*Maybe Nicki Minaj has a wicked sense of humor. Maybe she was just making fun of a poor, defenseless mentally ill woman.
Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. We don’t really know what her intentions were when she posted a video of her mocking the poor woman. But, on social media she’s paying the price for doing it.
On top of the negative reaction to her post, a mental health organization is going in on her for making fun of the woman.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-Miami) is speaking out, just like several of Nicki’s fans, saying the clip is an invasion of the woman’s privacy, which dehumanizes her.
NAMI says it has a problem with Minaj using her fame — she has 70 million IG followers — to influence young people in a negative manner. A rep for NAMI put it this way:
“Nobody would make fun of a cancer patient, and mental illness is an illness like any other.”
Several comments on the video claim it’s well-known in South Beach the woman in the video is mentally ill.
Nicki , you need to do better.
