*Rihanna has come out to squash reports of a feud with Beyonce after a gossip site suggested that her “like” of an Instagram post was indirect shade.
Despite earning eight Grammy nominations on Tuesday – tying Drake and Kanye West for second-most nods behind Beyoncé’s nine – Rihanna appeared to express disappointment over being left out of two particular categories by liking a post that also took issue with the snubs…before also tossing shade at Beyonce.
Someone with the Twitter handle @Rihannagang_ wrote: “Congrats and all to @badgalriri and all for her 8 Grammy nods but tbh f**k them because they snubbed her for Song of the Year and Album of the Year. Like how ni**a? I think they didn’t want her tied or passing someone else *cough cough* [lemon emoji].”
Rihanna liked the post, which caused the blogs to draw a straight line of hate between Riri’s “like” and the lemon emoji.
Wrong, says Rihanna, who posted a response to the non-story on Instagram:
“I never actually read your caption, thought the pic was funny and moved right along! Til I seen it pop up over and over! I’m petty af, yes. But this is just unnecessary! I wish y’all would drop this topic and see things from the bigger picture! We don’t need to be putting black women against each other! We deserve to be celebrated, and the Grammy Academy agrees!”
