The Turner-owned network has officially given a series order for the Rashida Jones-produced dramedy “Claws,” The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Due in 2017, the 10-episode single-camera comedy is described as a midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness that follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous Floridian manicurists in the traditionally male world of organized crime.

Their South Florida nail salon is owned by Desna Simms, played by Niecy Nash. Carrie Preston, Judy Reyes and Harold Perrineau co-star.

The series will showcase that there’s a lot more going on at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon than silk wraps and pedicures.

The idea for Claws was conceived by Eliot Laurence, who penned the pilot and will serve as co-executive producer.

“Claws is wild and hilarious, and we can’t wait for viewers to immerse themselves in this fascinating world,” said Sarah Aubrey, executive vp original programming at TNT. “This is a show with great storytelling featuring empowered female characters and brought to life by a diverse group of incredibly talented individuals both in front of and behind the camera.”
