Trump Speaks on Oscars’ Ending Boo-Boo – Show’s Ratings Down for 3rd Year

trump & oscars
*With his popularity and credibility at record low levels for everyone except his “Trumpsters,” Sunday’s Oscar ending snafu was just what the doctor ordered for Donald Trump.

The president, along with his fans, think the whole Best Picture screw up happened because the show’s producers were busy throwing insults at him.

“I think they were focused so hard on politics they didn’t get the act together at the end,” he said about the now infamous incident.

Surprisingly it was Trump’s first comment on the award show and he wasted no time going in on the production.

He told Breitbart News:

“It didn’t feel like a very glamorous evening. I’ve been to the Oscars. There was something very special missing, and then to end that way was sad.”

Viewership for the Oscars was down from 2016 according to the Nielsen company on Monday. The number of viewers to this year’s show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, was 32.9 million a noticeable decrease from last year’s Chris Rock hosted show.

This year’s numbers are the smallest since 2008 when just 31.76 million viewers tuned in to the show which was MC’d by John Stewart .

Maybe the fact that the 2017 ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, had a decided political edge against President Donald Trump contributed to its ratings fall.

But as CBS News points out, the anti-Trump sentiment was hardly unexpected after the politically charged atmosphere of the Golden Globes, which aired in early January with a number of onstage voices, particularly Meryl Streep’s, taking to task the then-president-elect. After that, some Trump supporters called for a viewer boycott of the Oscarcast, which may have partly accounted for the audience’s fall-off from last year.

But then again the Oscar telecast has been on a losing trend for three years straight. In both 2014 and 2013, the awards show reached more than 40 million viewers, whereas 37.3 million were watching in 2015. Ellen DeGeneres’ 2014 stint as host still holds the highest ratings for an Oscars broadcast in the 21st century, with 43.74 million viewers tuning in.

The answer to the problem seems obvious to us. Get Ellen to host!
