*Director Anthony Hemingway, whose resume includes episodes of WGN’s “Underground,” FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” and Fox’s “Empire,” has signed on to helm indie feature “Bury the Lead.”

The drama, written by Justin Kremer, centers on a talented journalist on a quest for a Pulitzer Prize who fabricates a compelling news story. But when his concocted conspiracy becomes real, right and wrong become entangled as his career, family and life are engulfed in murder and mayhem.

“Bury the Lead” will be the first project from new production banner Elston Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Elston principals DeAnna Cooper, Kevin Cooper, Billy Dec and Kat Stephans are producing while Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner is executive producing.

“Anthony’s directorial approach and his ‘sui generis’ vision really allows the audience to live inside the space,” explains Cooper, president of Elston Films.

Hemingway directed the 2012 film “Red Tails,” starring Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr., and he was nominated for an Emmy for directing “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
