*Dylann Roof, the man responsible for the Charleston church shooting that killed nine people in June 2015, pleaded guilty to all state charges Monday afternoon…that’s nine first-degree murder charges, three attempted murder charges, and one weapons charge.

He was sentenced to nine consecutive life sentences and three consecutive 30-year sentences. This is on top of the death sentence doled out by a federal jury back in January.

“This is the surest way to see that Dylann Roof is executed,” Scarlett A. Wilson, solicitor for the state’s Ninth Judicial Circuit, said in a statement following the hearing. “We hope that today truly will close a chapter for these victims.”

Roof will now be transferred to a federal penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana, to begin his death row sentence.

The white supremacist was sentenced to death by a federal jury for his attack on the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historically-black church, during which he sat in on a bible study for over half-an-hour before shooting the black churchgoers in attendance. He was reported to have stood over his victims while shooting them repeatedly and reloaded seven times during the attack.
