*Jay Z has pulled his catalog from competitor Spotify… which only makes sense considering he’s the owner of the struggling music streaming service TIDAL.
According to reports, a search on Spotify revealed only two collaborative albums with R Kelly are listed: Unfinished Business (2004) and Best of Both Worlds (2002). There are now also only five singles, all collaborations: “N****s in Paris” (Kanye featuring Jay), “Numb/Encore” (Linkin Park with Hova), “All the Way Up” (Fat Joe and Remy Ma ft. French Montana, Infared and Jay Z), “Clique” (Big Sean with Jay Z and Kanye) and “Dirt Off Your Shoulders” (with Notorious B.I.G.), per Billboard.com.
Spotify confirmed in a statement that “some of his catalog has been removed at the request of the artist.”

Earlier reports erroneously claimed that Jay Z’s catalog had also been removed from Apple, but many of his albums are still listed, including: The Black Album, Vol. 2…, Hard Knock Life, Vol. 3: Life and Times of S. Carter, Kingdom Come and 2013’s Magna Carta… Holy Grail.
One of the reasons why Jay Z removed his titles from Spotify and not Apple may be because the former’s ad-based freemium tier pays artists less in royalties than subscription tiers.
Meanwhile, a media outlet called NOISEY caused a firestorm with Jay Z stans by referring to him as a ‘bitch’ in a recent headline. The outlet’s Twitter headline read: “Messy bitch Jay Z has pulled a bunch of his music from Spotify.”
The Tweet has since been deleted, but not before swift angry reactions poured in. Read more about it at thejasminebrand.
