*A jury has acquitted former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez on two counts of murder.

The 27-year-old is already serving a life sentence for the 2013 killing of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd, who had been dating the sister of Hernandez’ fiancee at the time of murder.

On Friday (April 14), the former athlete was found not guilty in the murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who were shot to death as they waited at a stoplight in the early morning of July 16, 2012.

The only charge Hernandez was found guilty on by this jury was unlawful gun possession and was sentenced to 4-5 years in state prison for that.

The jury had begun deliberations last Friday.
