*One of the most polarizing figures in sports over the last few months has been LaVar Ball, the father of UCLA standout, Lonzo Ball, and two high school stars, LiAngelo Ball and LaMelo Ball.

As the eldest Ball brother prepares for the upcoming NBA draft, it doesn’t look like LaVar is going to slowdown his branding of his three stars in the making.

The average person has two to four million sweat glands that act as the body’s cooling system to protect it from overheating. Most top-notch college athletes who have a chance to go pro are worried more about sweating too much during their first television experience rather than what sneaker brand will represent them. But Lonzo Ball, whether he wants to worry about it or not, is right in the controversial mix thanks to his outspoken father.

As LaVar and Lonzo travel the sports media circuit, visiting Fox Sports 1’s Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, and ESPN’s First Take, the eccentric eldest Ball is not shy about promoting his sons and his Big Baller Brand clothing line.

According to Deadspin, LaVar Ball has made various hyperbolic claims ahead of the NBA draft about his eldest son Lonzo. He has said that Lonzo will only play for the Los Angeles Lakers, that Lonzo is a better player than two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) and NBA champion Steph Curry, and, perhaps his most outlandish statement, that LaVar himself would win in a game of one-on-one with the five-time NBA MVP and six-time NBA champion.

“All I said was that my boy is going to play for the Lakers, and I’m going to speak it into existence,” LaVar told ESPN. “I want him to be a Laker, but I wasn’t saying he’s only going to play for the Lakers.”

LaVar clearly isn’t shy about stirring up controversy to give his BBB company awareness and promote his sons’ talents.

When asked about his father’s statements, Lonzo Ball replied, “All I do is go out and play basketball, man.”
