The Pulse of Entertainment: Universal’s ‘Fast and Furious 8’ Combines Action and Comedy Perfectly (WATCH)

*Universal Pictures presents to theaters April 14, 2017 the 8th installment of The Fast and Furious franchise, which is also known as The Fate of the Furious, Fast8 and F8. Director F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) perfectly combines the legendary fast action of the “Fast and Furious” brand with comic-relief.

Fast8 is a fast moving two hours and 16 minutes and it stars Vin Diesel (Chronicles of Riddick), also producer, as Dom (Dominic Toretto) a reformed criminal working for a DSS Agent; Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (Scorpion King) is Luke Hobbs a DSS Agent who hires Dom’s team for a covert operation to stop home-grown 21 Century terrorism; Jason Statham (The Transporter) is Deckard Shaw, a rogue Special Forces Agent jailed by Agent Hobbs, persuaded to join the covert operations to save the world; Michelle Rodriguez (S.W.A.T.) is Letty Ortiz, Dom’s new wife, a former street racer and part of his team; Tyrese Gibson (Transformers) is Roman Pearce a reformed criminal that is part of Dom’s team; Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges (“Law & Order: SUV”) is Tej Parker a mechanic that’s also part of Dom’s team; Golden Globe nominated Kurt Russell (Stargate) is Frank Petty who recruited Agent Hobbs for the covert operation called Cipher, and Nathalie Emmanuel {“Game of Thrones”) is Ramsey a computer “hackivist” and new member of Dom’s team.

In Fast8, Petty enlists Agent Hobbs, in jail wrongfully imprisoned, for a covert op to stop a cyber terrorist and Hobbs then recruits Dom and his team for assistance. During the operation Dom goes rogue and betrays the team and his wife by joining the terrorist group stealing devices that can be used to terrorize. Fast8 starts off all about Dom having to go against his team so you know its action packed, but just when you can’t stand the friction between them any more the reason why he has betrayed them is introduced. This secret in-a-way brings comic-relief but it also increased my desire for Dom, himself, to take-down the new age terrorist – Cipher.

Universal Pictures' The Fate of the Furious 8 stars Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges and Jason Statham.
