*“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” the Larry David-fronted comedy series returns this fall after five long years.

At the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills last month, David debuted scenes from the highly anticipated ninth season, which will jump ahead six years and reveal what each character has been up to in the first episode.

EUR/Electronic Urban Report correspondent Ny MaGee was on hand for HBO’s TCA panel for the show, and Mr. David was in full “TV Larry” persona — which he explained is not all that different from “real Larry.” He was joined by executive producer and co-star Jeff Garlin, executive producer Jeff Schaffer, and co-stars Susie Essman and J.B. Smoove.

When EUR ask Mr. David if “real Larry” is generally annoyed with most humans, just like “TV Larry,” he jokingly replies: “A little frustrated, yep.”

He also revealed that his interactions with people — as amusing and/or awkward as they may be — don’t usually provide him with material for his show, contrary to popular belief.

“A lot of people think they’re always providing me with fodder, but they’re not,” he tells EUR. “You know, all of a sudden, I’ll write something down, and they’ll go, “Oh, did I just say something? Did I just give you that?” “No, no, you didn’t. Shut up. No.”

In a preview for the upcoming season, Larry appears on an episode of Judge Judy, so we just had to ask him…. why Judge Judy (this writer happens to love her, BTW) and not Judge Milian (The People’s Court)?

“Judge Judy actually is in my ex-wife’s family, so I knew her,” Larry reveals.

He also explained why he decided to bring the series back now:

“You know, I kind of — I’m not a misser, so to speak. I don’t really miss things, people that much. But I was missing it, and I was missing these idiots. So I thought, “Yeah, what the hell?” And I got tired of people asking me, “Is the show coming back?” I couldn’t face that question any more, and I wasn’t ready to say, “No, never.” And I kept saying, “Oh, you know, maybe. Who knows?” So I thought, “Yeah, I won’t have to be asked that anymore.”

Actor and comedian J.B. Smoove expressed his excitement about the series return and what his character, Leon, will be up to this season.

“Oh, man. You know, I told — I tell people all the time it’s a new “Curb,” same old Leon, and I think that is the thing that I love about the character. I love that he’s an in-the-moment guy,” J.B. says.“He’s a guy that lives day to day. You know, I was looking so forward to getting to Larry’s ass again this season, and I think it’s been — the first day on the set, it was — I could tell the man had a little gitter. Do you know what I mean? He’s already white, but he was even more white that first day on the set. But I think once we got going… The first day was crazy.”

At this point, Larry notes that their first day of filming “was the day after the election, November 9th.”

“It was one of those days. Like, everybody was getting on their feet. But one take, and this man was back to gold again, you know, and he’s — it’s like playing tee-ball. He sets you up so well, you can’t go wrong, and I’m happy to be back on the show, so goddamn happy, ” J.B. explains.

Meanwhile, the weeks-long standoff between HBO and a hacker intensified last weekend with the leak of several episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” as well as other series — including “Insecure.”

The network immediately issued a statement, saying: “We are not in communication with the hacker and we’re not going to comment every time a new piece of information is released. That’s a game we’re not going to participate in.”

Season 9 of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is set to premiere Oct. 1.
