*Kim Kardashian says she and hubby Kanye West are raising their daughter North to be aware of her biracial identity.

“I’m very conscious of it,” Kardashian, 36, says in the September issue of Interview magazine, where she and North appear on the cover. “Kanye always has his family around and people who look like my daughter — that’s important to me. She’s obsessed with her curly hair, and if she finds someone who has the same hair, she runs to them and is like, ‘You have curly hair like me?’ And we get to talk about it. We also talk about it with my niece [sister Kourtney Kardashian‘s daughter] Penelope, because she and North look really different, but they’re best friends and they’re together all the time.”

Kardashian, who welcomed son Saint with Kanye in December 2015, also discussed keeping an open dialogue with her children about topics like Caitlyn Jenner‘s transition.

“We want to raise our kids to be really aware. I think that’s all you can do. The more you talk about things and keep them out in the open, the more they won’t be taboo,” Kardashian explained. “Kids are already so open. They say anything. So if you educate them, they feel like they have this knowledge and then they feel empowered.”

During a guest-hosting gig this morning on “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” Kim revealed that North isn’t her baby brother’s biggest fan.

“I don’t know if it’s ’cause she’s the older sister … I don’t know what it is, I thought it was a phase but she does not like her brother,” Kardashian said. “I thought it was like ‘OK, a couple months, she’s just warming up to it.’ The phase isn’t going away.”
