*Donald Trump just underscored with vigor his original Saturday response to the racist events in Charlottesville, Va, saying, ‘I think there is blame on both sides.”
Speaking to press in the lobby of Trump Tower in New York, the president was combative and defensive as the press barked out questions about his response to the deadly violence that plagued the white supremacist rally over the weekend.
“What about the alt-left?” Trump asked, insisting that counter-protesters should bear some responsibility for the violence in Charlottesville. “What about the alt-left that came charging at, as you say, at the alt-right? Do they have any guilt? What about the fact that they came charging with clubs in their hands swinging clubs? You had a group on the other side that came charging in without a permit and they were very, very violent.”
“I think there’s blame on both sides and I have no doubt about it,” he said.

Minutes after Trump’s press conference, America’s most famous white supremacist David Duke tweeted gratitude toward the president:
Thank you President Trump for your honesty & courage to tell the truth about #Charlottesville & condemn the leftist terrorists in BLM/Antifa https://t.co/tTESdV4LP0
