ABC’s New Show ‘The Mayor’ Shows What Happens When A Rapper Takes on Politics (EUR Exclusive – WATCH)

*As the Fall TV season unrolls, the Paley Center for Media hosted the 11th annual PaleyFest honoring the ABC series, “The Mayor.”

During the “purple carpet” event, EURweb.com associate Loren LoRosa had the chance to meet up with the cast of the comedy/drama to get the inside scoop of what viewers can expect this fall.

The series takes a comedic view of politics in America as a young rapper, Courtney Rose, played by Brandon Micheal Hall, runs for mayor of his city.

His focus, like any other millennial is to be known, make it big and rap beside some of the biggest artist in the game. The way he plans to do it, is by dabbling into politics within his inner city.

“If Kanye West saw this show and was like hey I want to work with him, I would go crazy” – Brandon Micheal Hall

Not even intending to win the election, just to create a buzz around his music through his campaign, the biggest plot twist occurs when Brandon’s character Courtney actual becomes the next mayor of his city.

I think its important that we are not preachy cause the people that need this show the most are probably not the ones who voted the way I voted.” -Yvette Nicole Brown

Even better than “The Mayor’s” message was the undeniable chemistry between the cast during our time with them at the premiere. From watching the guys in the cast joke and compliment each others “purple carpet,” to hearing them speak about the friendships gained throughout their journey on set,  there is no doubt the chemistry of the cast will serve as a prompter for good TV!

With politics in America feeling so hopeless in 2017 a show like this is definitely needed!

When asked, if this scenario were to happen right now, “what rapper do you think would make a great president?,” Marcel Spears told EURweb:

“I honestly think Queen Latifah would make a great president, we need some U.N.I.T.Y in the white house right now.”

“The Mayor” will have its season premiere via ABC on Tuesday October 3 at 9:30|8:30c
