Lebron James, Kaepernick and the Power of Protesting President Trump (Video)

*Attorney Antonio Moore looks at the statements made by President Donald Trump in Huntsville Alabama pushing owners to fire players that protest police violence in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.  More critiques how Trump looked to fire his base speaking of American values , and a need to punish players who stand against the flag.

Moore also delves into an analysis of the tweets by NBA star Lebron James in support of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, in response to the released news that President trump has rescinded their offer to visit the White House. He also looks closely at the response James gave to Tamir Rice incident, one in which James largely sidestepped the killing of Tamir Rice by Police in Cleveland, Ohio.

Colin Kaepernick Statement 8/27/16:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color… To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Lebron James Tweet 9/23/17:

U bum already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

According to USA Today: Curry said the amount of support he’s seen from players across the NBA has been “unbelievable.”

“It was amazing to see all these guys rally around each other and speak up,” Curry said. “That’s what this is about. We’re not trying to divide and separate this country. We’re trying to bring everybody together and speak about love and togetherness and equality. I think that was demonstrated in response to what happened this morning, which is a powerful thing for sure.”
