*As you’ve heard by now, Jill Scott and her husband Mike Dobson are calling it quits after a year of marriage. On the same day she filed for divorce, Scott also asked for a restraining order, which was later granted.
Following news that she filed for divorce, Dobson responded by calling Scott “evil.”
Now he’s reaching out to Bossip about wanting to be civil with his ex as they move forward with the divorce.
In a statement through his lawyer, Dobson told the gossip site that he vows to be more cordial to Scott if she agrees to do the same.

“Please know that this very public approach to a sensitive matter like a divorce was never my intention, nor will it be my approach moving forward, despite the false statements published about me daily,” he said. “Jill and I collectively have three children involved here and for the sake of their privacy and dignity, I would just ask all parties involved not to comment, say mean things and to please respect my individual privacy, her privacy and our children, who have to read all of these comments and statements.”
In the divorce papers, Scott cites improper marital conduct as the reason for the split. But Dobson says he never mistreated her during their 13-month marriage. In fact, he feels blindsided by the divorce.
Dobson also denies Scott’s claims that he was unemployed during their marriage. He says he’s worked for the city of Atlanta for the last six years.
In his statement, he thanked those who have been supportive as the divorce plays out in public.
“From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you all, Dobson said. “For anyone worried, please trust that God’s got my back!”
