*Louis Gossett Jr. will replace James Earl Jones in “Foster Boy,” a feature film based on a true story.
The legal drama follows a high-powered litigator who takes on the case of a disadvantaged African-American young man. They uncover the abuses of the for-profit foster care system.
Gossett is replacing Jones as a judge in the film, currently in production in Los Angeles.
Jones exited the project due to a competing commitment, according to Variety.
The script is written by attorney-turned-screenwriter Jay Paul Deratany (see video above), based on his experiences as a litigator in Chicago. Youssef Delara is the director.
Matthew Modine and newcomer Shane Paul McGhie co-star in the film. Other cast members include Julie Benz, Amy Brenneman, Greg Germann, Evan Handler, Jordan Belfi, Lex Scott Davis and Krystian Lyttle.
