*The hashtag #BlackWomen is trending this morning because people are giving credit where credit is due in the defeat of accused child predator Roy Moore in Tuesday’s Senate special election in Alabama.
Receipts published by The Washington Post showed that 98% of black women voted for Democratic candidate Doug Jones in the traditionally red state. Early exit numbers indicate that black people, particularly black women, clearly made a difference in handing Moore the “L.”

People of all races took to Twitter with their gratitude, voting stories, to rejoice and to plan for the future — all under the hashtag #BlackWomen:
The heroes are the POC especially #blackwomen who got out to vote despite rampant #VoterSuppression, and the brave women who came forward about Moore’s sexual abuse. This is all about women.

If black people had voted 68% for a pedophile last night, the media would be spending all day questioning the moral character of black families and communities.

How can #BlackWomen leverage our power better? If we decide elections, what should we require in exchange for our vote?

Everyone’s happy #BlackWomen won this election. But don’t forget them when you wake up tomorrow or next week. It’s not the first time black women have saved our asses.
