*People who don’t know take one look at superhot comic Tiffany Haddish and assume, because she’s real easy to look at, that her life’s journey must’ve been a cakewalk on her way to fame. But of course that was just the opposite she says in her new memoir, “The Last Unicorn.”

In the book, the “Girls Trip!” star reveals several especially personal hardships she experienced in her life, specifically related to her childhood in the foster care system and even suffering a miscarriage while in an abusive relationship.

In an excerpt from the book, Haddish touched on the many times her foster-father molested her when she was just 13. She got graphic when she described how she fell for his BS to let him suck on her breasts to help them grow after he caught her stuffing toilet paper into her training bra.

Being naive and ignorant to reality, she began allowing him to do it every day before she left for school. She has no idea she was being molested by him.

“In my mind, ‘molested’ meant somebody hurt you in some kind of way. Like, they took something from you that you didn’t want to give,” she said. “And what the old man did never hurt. It didn’t necessarily feel good, either, it was just whatever. And he never tried nothing else with me, not even once. It was just like — in my mind — he was helping me out.”

She didn’t get her wakeup call until she was nineteen. Her eyes were opened to the truth when she confided in a friend about what was happening and she explained to her that she was, in fact, being molested.

The funny lady also touched on her former marriage in the book. She admitting to marrying and divorcing the same man twice. She explained that their relationship was so dysfunctional that he would get violent towards her at times. On one particular occasion, she recalled, he became so crazed that she was speaking to another male comedian after a gig, he (the husband) began to physically assault her right there in front of a crowd of people.

“He grabbed me by the collar, he was like, ‘It’s time to go to the room now,’ in front of everybody. Just snatched me by my shirt, and pulled me to the elevator and threw me in it,” she said. “Once we got to our hotel room, he was so quick. He snatched me by the neck and slammed me into the wall.”

The poor girl also revealed that she suffered a miscarriage as a result of one of his violent attacks. When it happened, she didn’t even know she was pregnant.

It’s interesting to see that Haddish overcame all that pain and adversity to became a comedian, a person who’s job and mission it is to bring joy to others to make them forget their own troubles with laughter.
