*Terrell Owens will be sporting his usual No. 81 jersey when he dons the uniform of the Cincinnati Bengals this season.
NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp reported that Owens paid an undisclosed amount to fellow Bengals wide receiver Antonio Bryant for the right to wear the number he’s used his entire career. Some of the money, Sapp reported, will be donated to charity.
Owens, 36, will be introduced as the newest member of the Bengals later today after Wednesday’s announcement that the two parties agreed on a contract.
The Bengals had a chance to sign T.O. after a tryout in March, but gave Antonio Bryant a four-year deal instead to line up opposite Chad Ochocinco.
Quarterback Carson Palmer worked out with Owens in California over the last month and told coach Marvin Lewis that he looked really good. With Owens still available on the eve of training camp, the Bengals made a move.
Owens will get a $2 million salary and a chance to make another $2 million in bonuses, according to reports. He could earn $333,000 each for passing the following milestones: 60 catches, 100 catches, 900 receiving yards, 1,300 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns and 14 touchdowns, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

I think the Bengals going to be OK, unless TO does something really stooopid.
As long as they are winning, everyone will be happy, regardless of TO’s personal stats.
In the worst case scenario, I see TO acting as a decoy, with Chad cleaning up on the passes. And Cedric has the running game on lock. All TO needs to do is keep his mouth shut. Is that too much to ask for in one season, Mr. Owens?
But then again, TO may have the season of his life, winning the Super Bowl in the process.

I thought this was a good pick up by the Bengals no longterm commitments, with a hopeful shortterm boost. Good luck to him on meeting some of those milestones tho…opposite of Ochocinco not as many ball will be coming his way down field. He’ll be the medium to short range threat…with hopes that he can break a few tackles…60 catches seems doable in that role…100 I dont really think so…Ocho will get about that many and theres only one ball to go around…plus they have Bryant. Those yardage markers will be, IMO, almost impossible for him to acheive. Playing as the number 2 WR, Cincy being in a colder outdoor environment, and the hopes of running the ball alot more effectively to set up the play action passing game doesnt seem conducive to him getting all those yards. Not to mention if they’re either a losing team or T.O.’s not getting the ball enough the angst and frustration that he usually openly shows will distract from onfield productivity(I will agree he did a great job of being a team guy last year in sucky buffalo, but i think his management knew what was up and encouraged him to play it cooler bc they knew he was aging and would only be looked at as a shortterm option he would need to convince people he wasnt a nutcase(which in watching his show on occasion, i think he might actually be…but thats another story…lol)) With all that said I wish him and the team the best…SN: sorry so long folks…you can tell i love this game…

I look for T.O. to break over half of the incentives which should bring him to $3.3mil. He should get the 60 catches. That should be no problem. He’ll get 900yds easy. And the touchdowns will be about 15. And I look for the Bengals to go DEEP into the playoffs.
