*The Fox drama pilot “Empire” seems to be adding cast members by the hour.
On the heels of Malik Yoba joining Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Jussie Smollet in the hip-hop themed project from Lee Daniels, Deadline.com is reporting that Gabourey Sidibe has now signed on for a recurring role.
The story centers on Lucious Lyon (Howard), a charismatic, savvy music superstar who is about to take his company, Empire Entertainment, public. Henson plays his ex-wife and Smollet will portray their middle son.
Sidibe, fresh from her role in FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven,” will play Lucious’ hard-working assistant.

*It’s the story everyone is talking about. Or should we say It’s the question everyone is asking: is singer Brandon Howard the son of Michael Jackson?
So far a DNA test, which came out positive, has been mostly debunked and some are saying the father is Joe Jackson or someone in the Jackson family. However, the Jackson brothers recently stated there was no truth to that rumor as well.
Finally, this past Friday, musician Augie Johnson, whose vocal group Side Effect featured Brandon’s mother, singer Miki Howard (pictured), said that he’s Brandon’s father. Interestingly, based on the response we’ve seen on our messageboards, most people don’t believe him. it’s as if they want to believe that Brandon Howard really is Michael’s son or at least a Jackson. *We’ve been hearing a lot from the man who made “Who you gonna call?” a global catch phrase. On March 6th, musician Ray (“Ghostbusters”) Parker Jr. received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Attended by the who’s who in the music and film industries, speakers at the ceremony included Bill Withers and Brian Holland (of Holland/Dozier/Holland fame).
Parker is the 2518th recipient of the Hollywood star in the Category of Recording. In addition to his blockbuster “Ghostbusters” – which along with other versions of the song sold over 35 million units – Parker and his band Raydio are also known for such hits as “Jack And Jill,” “You Can’t Change That,” “A woman Needs Love (Just Like You Do),” and “The Other Woman.” Parker’s star is located at 7065 Hollywood Blvd. next to fellow music giants Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonius Monk, and The Funk Brothers. When his star was unveiled Parker exclaimed “Unreal!”
