*Aisha Harris, the author of the article that triggered Megyn Kelly’s comments on the race of Santa Clause, has weighed in on Kelly’s remarks.
CNN reports that Harris let Kelly have it on Sunday’s “Reliable Sources” in which she criticized the Fox News host’s response to her work. On her show Wednesday, Kelly stated that Santa just is white” upon responding to Harris, who argued that Santa should not be portrayed as a white an. Kelly’s comments ultimately set off a backlash in which she has been widely mocked.
“I felt like they were kind of playing the victim there, and the fact that they tried to deflect it and say they were also making a joke out of it, it just didn’t — it didn’t ring true to me,” Harris told CNN’s Brian Stelter. “She said it very emphatically on the program, on Wednesday, and to me, there was nothing joke-like about that.”
Kelly’s reaction further reinforces the reason why the Santa article needed to be written, the Slate blogger added.
“There are a lot of people out there who automatically assume that Santa must be white and there’s no way — it’s laughable that he could be anything else,” Harris said.
