Comment: I have to say I have never been a fan of Karl "the mailman" Malone but I have to give him props for stepping up to the plate for helping out people in the Gulf Coast Community. So, he wasn't one of the paid contracts on the administrations bank rolls huh? Makes U wonder what is the purpose of FEMA when there are willing people who want to help individuals and they are blocked by this organization because they didn't fill out the proper paper work (or were not on the approved list of contractors - e.g. Halburton)....

Comment: Mr. Malone is the man...He will truly be blessed for his selfless contributions to assist..

Comment: milehigh- you and I are on the same page. I was thinking to myself that it's a crying shame that the gubm'nt doesn't even want to allow people to do a good deed for fear it will mess with their money. When the flooding started in New Orleans, Walmart trucks full of food, water and supplies were turned away from the city by FEMA over the same type of BS. I'm glad Karl ignored those clowns and did what he had to do.

Name: Priceless
Comment: this is why FEMA needs to be disbanded cuz once they used to operating with nothing but red tape culturally they can never change and poor performance like they displayed for Katrina will be there when we get hit with that killer flu for which they only have 2 million doses of vaccine for and not enough tamiflu to fight it off either ... glad they didn't try to physically and legally stop Karl and his team cuz they don't seem to even want those people to get help without charging them money they don't have if they look like you and me ... heyell even the pankies that lost everything can't pay that kind of money to have shat cleared

Comment: Go Malone.. I am extremely proud of the way black folks with money and power came through for the people in need. That is totally insane to think that someone who just lost everything could possibly cough up thousands of dollars for removal of debris.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: I like it!

Name: Reds
Comment: Why is there so many red tapes to helping these folks. I was watching DemocracyNow last week, and folks who wanted to help were being blocked. Check out this article http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/09/30/14 11232. Also, it seem that despite the fact that the bulk of the donations are going to the Red Cross, they are not really helping - http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/09/30/14 11237. Does race have anything to do with it?

Comment: Karl Malone-you go-handle yo' biznass-no really, I think the man just did what he had to do f@#$ all the red tape

Name: KayKay
Comment: Karl Malone's doin' the damn thang ! *Cheezin hard over here* I'm proud of you; and i know your Mama is looking down on you, and she's as proud as she can be. Bless you.

Name: MelodyCool
Comment: Well I'm glad something finally pulled at Karl Malone's heart strings because I lost all respect for him after learning how cold and callous he treated his firstborn "black" twins. I always wondered why his mother didn't try to influence her son to associate with these children while he laid up in the lap of luxury with his millions. I'm surprised he was moved to help out as he's doing since he wasn't inclined to help his own firstborns. Read it for your self. I've included a portion of this very sad article: http://www.freep.com/sports/shock/shock17_20030617.htm "Cheryl Ford to blaze her own path" June 17, 2003 BY KRISTA LATHAM FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER When Cheryl Ford was growing up in tiny Summerfield, La., her daddy worked summers at Turner's Grocery, a store owned by his stepfather on the edge of town. And every time Ford and her twin brother, Daryl, went to see him there, "he pretended he didn't know them". "He didn't even look at us," Ford said. "It hurt." Ford and her brother understood. Karl Malone, their father, was a rich, famous basketball player for the Utah Jazz. He helped out at the grocery store as a favor to his family. He didn't need a reminder of the mistake he made in high school.
