Comment: I'm still ticked off at this brotha, ans will be for a while. Dude signs a 5 year/$50 million dollar deal and then walks away from it because he couldnt handle the stress? %*$!( please!! Gimme a break. All of us deal with stress in our everyday jobs, for a lot less money! In the minds of many, Black people already have a reputation of not being diligent workers, so this nonsense just plays into the stereotype further. Homeboy signs an agreement then breaches his contract and walks away from his job for still-mysterious reasons. I know its not always about the money, but when this brotha got his big contract, a lot of us black people were happy for him, especially since blacks rarely get top-dollar deals like that. Now he's decided to walk away from his deal...its such a disappointment.

Comment: DoctorSmooth, Dave gave his reasons on Oprah on why he left the show. If you go to the archives on Eurweb from last week you can read the story.

Comment: ericsgirl - Dave gave his reasons, but if you listened closely it boiled down to--he couldn't handle the stress of being in charge. He had creative control of his show, so all that bs about not wanting to "sell out" was within his control. When Dave said "They gave me a contract for $50mil and then said 'here you go', dropped the show in my lap and said 'see ya' ", it spoke volumes. He was in charge and it was a lot of stressfull work to run the entire show without the handholding of the network execs and their people. Oprah responded "yeah, sometimes you have to be careful for what you ask for because you might just get it."

Comment: I think Dave couldn't take the pressure anymore. I bet it was getting to him and he was getting stressed out. Shoot they gave him a 50 million dollar contract so he had the pressure of making sure season 3 was even better than the first 2. I don't blame him. I'd rather him leave the show than stay there go crazy and get on drugs trying to deal with the pressure and start going downhill.
