Comment: I am truly saddened by the death of Kirby Puckett,he was so young only 44 years old. I remember the 1991 World Series against the Atlanta Braves and how Kirby played his heart out in that series he was a great player and will be missed..

Comment: Just more proof that it doesn't matter how old you are, weighing 400 pounds will can kill you. Especially when all you are doing is fishing, golfing and eating. R.I.P.

Comment: My condolences to the family. People aren't even making it to 50 or 60 anymore - life is so fragile and leaves very little room for any errors.

Comment: >erics - that's a generational thing that's being passed down from one generation to the next, and someone in the family has to stand up, and curse that thing and proclaim life to the living men, and the men to come. Some man who is bold and strong, and knows how to take authority over that thing. Otherwise, it will continue on.

Comment: I'm going to put a different spin on this. Kirby had to end his stellar baseball career early due to glaucoma. IMO the poor physical health after his early retirement seemed to be a manifestation of the silent mental battles he was dealing with. There were those people close to him saying they had concerns about his health, yet they also remembered a kind, nice man with the multi million dollar smile. I do wonder if Kirby was able to really deal with the ending of his career. Since I'm not that on point about baseball, let alone the players, I do find it easy for me to ponder on the less obvious.
