Comment: I've given him a chance but I like him better in the stupid movies and in stand up. There is nothing like Tony TC George and Herman. They had the flavor I like and they are local. If I wanted to listen to a syndicated show I'd listen to Tom Joyner. ChakaTee did you sign the petition?

Comment: This subject was soooo on my mind this morning. I was going to post on the free 4 all. But this is right on time. I can't stand Steve Harvey's show. Someone please send me the petition at ebonetyee@yahoo.com. I really miss the "real" morning show. I think DC is too sophisticated for Steve. Talk about a step down. I hope the station listens to the listeners and bring back TC, George, Tony and Herman. But I doubt that it will ever happen. So sad.

Steve is NOT funny to me, and I personally think the show is boring.
I'm actually starting to listen to Star & Buckwild.
Steve is just CUNTRY, and he over plays it to the death, so some folk think he's aight, but ewwww. I don't think he's that funny stand up either. His show was just OK. And he's mean spirited. Don't let ANY one of his "co-host"/lackeys get a couple of sentences out before he opens them big azz gams of his to speak.

Comment: I have tried to listen to the Steve Harvey Show this week in an effort to actually give the show a chance, however, this show is just bad. He talks well into the start of a song. He talks over callers. His whole "I'm country" gimmick wears on my nerves. WE GET IT! I don't think WHUR will bring back the original team, because radio is just shady like that - but I won't be tuning in.

Comment: While I enjoy Steve Harvey standup I DO NOT enjoy him on my radio. Further, I did not appreciate how WHUR carried the situation. One moment, I was listening to my beloved radio show and then without warning, here comes Steve. NO promos. NO appropriate goodbyes from my morning team. NO nothing. It was like on Monday here is his loud behind. He talks over people, there isn't enough music, and he is rude. Further, I appreciate LOCAL radio because I like knowing what is going on in my community. Local radio opens up doors for businesses/programs/etc. to help each other out. National programs are just too cold. While I admit, the contests are a bit better and the money might be a bit fatter, I just like knowing what is going on with my neighbors. When Russ Parr was only with WKYS, the show was better because he was only concerned with the DC area. Now because he is a nationally syndicated show, the show is ridiculous. Its lost its touch. I miss my morning show. No insult to Steve, I just simply miss my morning show. I guess I'll go back to Donnie Simpson.

Comment: This is how I feel about him. Whomever told him he would make a great radio host lied like a mofo to that fool. Ghank> obviously your city is not being tortured by him 4hr a day. So I'm gonna give you a few reasons why he sucks (hell look how big his lips are he got to be suckin somethin) anyways, yes he's rude & don't care, yes the talks over people his own co-hosts has had to tell him he's not suppose to talk after the record plays, yes he hollars & screams into the mic all morning. I mean damn. This man has spread all over the country in different cities faster than aids. That's why he thinks he's the bomb, but instead he is a bomb. And no they don't let people know about a change when they get ready to make a move that's how they do, you turn your radio on & be like wtf. is going on. I have to radio hop all morning. I use to listen to TJMS til Jay Anthony starting gettin on my nerves. I think Russ Parr was the best til they kicked him to the curb. He might have a fan or two in Calli. So in answer to your question Ghank yes he is that bad. Peace!

I did listen to Steve Harvey on Monday, and didn't really care for it, but I thought I would give it a chance,so I listen for the entire week and it didn't get any better. Steve Harvey is funny on TV and Standup, but that show is really bad. Sorry Steve but we really like our 96.3 morning crew.

Comment: If the folks continue with the protests (boycott and petition), he'll eventually be removed. We had a similar thing happen in the SF Bay Area when Tom Joyner's show replaced one of the bay area's own -- Renell on KISQ 98.1. I actually was looking forward to Tom Joyner's show, but I listened to it and thought his morning show was boring as hell. The show lasted about 4 months and they eventually brought back Renell. So to all the folks in DC, continue protesting the station. The GM will notice the decline in listenership and put your homegrown talent back on the air.

Comment: I did not think TC, George and Tony were all that. Tony was the best to me. TC honeslty got on my nerves many mornings and at times I found her to be straight annoying. She would say things we all knew already and the guys did better when she would take off to me. I have heard much better female on-air personalities. I think they were all from out of town anyway. HUR trying Harvey for a bit is no surprise to me. I thought they were actually going to do this before TC George and Tony got started. Steve is just Steve. He is going to speak his mind. I have never been a gigantic fan of his but I respect his struggle to make it to where he is now. DC has alot of people from South Carolina, North Carolina, basically all of the Southm so the show may not do that bad because he checks in with the southern syndicated stations he's on ALOT. DAS in Philly has had Harvey for a while now, what has the reaction been up there? Any Philly people know? Peace!

Comment: Russ Parr on KYS is a joke to me. They got rid of his show in Philly and called him a big bama. Some thought he was fruity or down low fruity himself.
Donnie on PGC just ain't doin it to it like he used to like on the old days of WKYS in the 80s and early 90s. He's forced to play that thug junk and then he mixes in some old good RandB but it just isnt the same. Mostly on his show they discuss Sports, National Enquirer Headlines and American Idol. He used to talk about Music History with Artists. Now it's mostly junk. Huggie Lowdown can be funny though. Peace!

Steve used to also work on LA The Beat, also Radio One Owned in LA, now his show is on HUR in DC, the city of Radio One's Headquarters. TJM is funny, Russ if funny, Steve Harvey is funny in his STAND UP. I also miss the old crew. There was balance with the different morning shows. Now it's out of whack with the outlandish SH on one end and RP on the other. He would talk badly and often about how us Angelenos need to get ourselves together (crime, education, black/latino relations, etc.)in that real country voice that is so NOT California. John Smalley and Ananda Lewis (his replacements)don't exactly set it off in the AM but I'll take them oved that ish any day. So my heart goes out to DC!!! Anyhoo, I used to flip flop between Russ Parr and Tony & crew on a regular since both had elements I liked. To me, Tony was the worst..but I thought as a group they worked well. I miss the old Russ Parr days when Olivia was on...Alfredas & Shequanna are growing on me, but sometimes they are a bit much. I like Steve Harvey as a comedian, but I'm not feeling his show at all. Comment: Personally I don't have a problem with any of the national radio shows. I've listened to Tom Joyner, Steve Harvey, Micheal what's his name. They all are cool in my book, however, I still prefer local shows because they can talk about what's going on in Detroit specifically. I think the issue is one of money. As the big companies buy up all the small stations its cheaper to have one national show then to have lots of local shows in a time slot.

There is also this on the jop competition thing going on. Everyone is protecting their careers. It sucks. He at least is opening the lines of communication. But sometimes his "Swinger" shoes to me is a bit much, though there are folks out here like that. You can tel that dude had lived much of his life in the clubs and with the ladies. Some parents of Howard U's students have complained it is too raunchy because the station is on Howard's campus.

Just to let you know I used to listen to kys when it was candi shannon and donnie simpson - 14 years. Then Donnie's son was coming of age and listening to rap and he began playing more and more of it on kys. I then found 102.3 with taylor gwinn and st james only to be run back to hur for tony tc and george cause tom joyner took over 102.3. The only way I'd want Donnie on hur is if he swears before Almighty God not to play the music he's playing now! PLEASE JUST SIGN THE PETITION Y'ALL. Steve is hot and has said that DC just gonna have to get used to him cause he ain't going nowhere - please let's show this loud suit wearing soup cooler for lips having cut up err'y word he says brother packing back to whereeverthehell he came from!

Comment: Interesting posts by all. I grew up on DC Radio too. Donnie to me is just not doing it like he used to. The man has connects up the ying yang and a repore with all of em to boot. He just is falling short of how I know he really is and can be and I think it is because of who owns PGC and what their directive says even he can do or not do. It sucks. Donnie had help with his smart bud who knows how to negotiate contracts to allow him to play some of whathe wants to play too but to me its not enough. Donnie could be using his position even more to RAISE THE GAME IN R&B, HIP HOP AND MORE but he falls short of doing it. EVER LISTEN TO PGC AFTER DONNIE SIGNS OFF? IT'S BACK TO THE MADNESS FUL FLEDGED FOR ANOTHER 20 HOURS UNTIL WE HEAR HIM AGAIN AT 6A.

Comment: 93.9 WKYS back in the 80s was cool and hip and smooth as silk - look at it now - thugged out to the max. Russ Parr is a joke. He does more to contribute to the madness then anything. He shows no responsiblity and he is getting paid. and that crew hw has with him - Lord! Madness! Yeah they got rid of Olivia Fox all over money and I heard he didnt even go to bat for her in the meetings. Dang!

Comment: Cathy Hughes and her son Alfeed own Radio One - WOL has the most knowledge, yet all the hip hop stations go with the thugged out madness owned by the same people - does that make sense to you? Even the hosts on WOL talk about it. LOL! Dang!
Radio One is the audio version of BET!

Comment: Are the standards in commercial radio being lowered on purpose? Are the powers that be doing the same thing to radio they did to tv all those years ago? Lowering the quality on the free joints, forcing people to get better quailty on cable and now satelite radio. Sounds like a plan to me! Umph!
WE GOTTA PAY NOW FOR A HIGHER QUALITY OF RADIO THAT USED TO BE ON REGULAR RADIO FOR FREE! AND GUESS WHAT? IT COULD BE CHANGED OVERNIGHT! BUT SOME GREEDY INDIVIDUALS UP TOP ARE PROFITTING FROM IT ALL THE WAY IT IS NOW. THEY JUST SAID "TO HELL WITH THE PEOPLE!" DANG!

Comment: bigheaded bull, the old jazz 90 wdcu? The Best. DC hasn't been the same since on a consistent jazz level. Back in the day Jazz 90 beat PFW in consistent Jazz Play alone every time. And JAZZ 90 didn't cram fund drives down the listeners throats 10 times a year either! LOL! JAZZ 90 did their fund drives twice a year and they were out! lol! GiiiiaaaattDang! How many dag on fund drives does PFW do a year? 12? LOL! PFW trips me out! LOL! That conscious raising Hip Hop station they got called Cipher is good though and so is that brotha named Cleveland on Fridays - Good sTuff!!! ;)

Comment: Yo, ya'll know what was good stuff?! The day it was Donnie's Anniversary on the radio. They brought back everybody they could find, Shannon, Kevin "Slow Jammin" James, you name it. To hear that old crew on WPGC in the morning again was a treat! These were the real professionals who LAID THEIR THING DOWN! These yougins on the air now sound like High School Radio. Oh, someone else who is good to me -Jeannie Jones on KYS - she's good. I respect her. She's a pro. Michell Wright on PGC? She's done some positive things too. esp her cable music show. These are two sisters to me who have been able to keep their dignity in place along with laying down their own style amidst all the drama and changes. ;)

Comment: I thought Dallas was the only ones who got Steve thrown at them. All of a sudden he is on 105.7 (old school r&b)and the old dj's were out. I don't think its such a big deal like it is in DC though. Nobody really listened to the old dj's, so Steve is pretty much accepted down here. But thank god for Skip Murphy, and Gossip to Go, there's no need to listen to anybody else. I would even listen to Rickey Smiley before I listen to Steve in the morning.

OK, DC got some of the most finest black women you will ever see in your life, but shorty girl represents the worst chicken heads you will witness in DC! Think of some of them ignorant buck wild youngin girls that be wildin out on the Metro Subaways and busses after 3pm M-F who have no manners and are loud as all get out, that's what she is, yo! LOL!

Comment: well i'm a Bama and proud to be one. now i've listen to steve harvey over the internet. he seems ok to me. but i hate the star and buckwild morning show. it's just not my cup of tea. my young adult children don't like them either. they talk way too much. shoot i'll take tom joyner anyday. not a big russ parr fan either. we should get back to local talent as much as possible. or at least give us a choice like the people in chicago. i'm in austin so any urban radio is good but some deejays just go on and on and on. what happened to the music?

Comment: Steve Harvey is not funny. I was calling around asking people what happened to Tony, TC and George and nobody knew. That was a bad move on WHUR's part and they need to recognize what is keeping people tuned in and it damn-sure ain't no Steve Harvey. Bring back da real morning show. I am now a former WHUR listner.

Comment: I tried to listen to Steve. He just was not entertaining. I mean, I was not happy when they took off Doug and Lorna in the afternoon but I did get used to Michael Baisden (most of the time) but sometimes with him I end up listening to CDs, Talk radio or Jazz on 105.9 If it does not get any better, I'll be hooking up my iPod indefinitely.

Comment: Nothing against Steve, but I think the students and listeners of WHUR should do what they can to get him removed and a local show reinstated or formed(if the previous team wasn't getting the numbers). The whole basis of an educational station is to train and set the right example. Broadcasting is a business, but students who major in broadcast journalism can't get a job these days because of lawyers, judges, comedians, athletes, anybody who can talk and has some pull or money. WHUR should set the example! Students and listeners should protest, boycott and do what needs to be done!

Comment: When will they ever learn? V103 here in Chicago made the same mistake of letting George and his morning team go - that's how DC was able to get him. Now, the same "Clear Monopoly" has done it again. Don't they realize that the public will eventually catch on to the numbers game they are running? What will happen to these "media lords" when their listeners realize that it is all about the money to them? These fat cats sit in their ivory towers so out of touch with who pays their bills, it is almost comical. What they count on, people, and what enables them to get away with these kind of arbitrary decisions is APATHY. They count on us just grumbling away and still TUNING IN. They never expect us to contact their SPONSORS and threaten their bread and butter! And trust me, that is the only thing that will catch their attention. Who advertises during the morning on WHUR? Call THEM, write THEM - the money grabbers have to listen to the money spenders (um, that would be you, the CONSUMER) Do not go quietly into that good night. WHUR is not doing you a favor by broadcasting - you are doing them a favor by listening. If all you do is grumble, the next thing you know, they'll be stealing a presidential election from you ... but that's a different petition.

Comment: WHUR tried to pacify us by putting Tony Richards on for a segment of the Steve Harvey show -- it isn't working. The petition is still being signed, and the protest is still on for April 28 in front of WHUR from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
We will continue to fight until the entire Real DC Morning Show is back on the air -- where it belongs.
Steve Harvey must go!! Bring back the Morning Show!!
