Comment: Great article on a subject that a lot of folks have been thinking but couldn't articulate as well as you. I especially like the comment about the lack of "critical thinking". I lot of us have gotten lazy and it's time to get back to basics. One word of advice,though...your article may have been to long. Lots of people suffering from ADD these days. Thanks.

Comment: I really hoped that Darryl James might actually respond directly to those azz holes that lashed out in ignorance @ Darryl's piece titled "Diary of a Mad Black Man" last week; however; this response is on point and pretty much summons up my thoughts...

Comment: Although I am not all the way with you on the "Men in Drag" thing (see previous related comments), I think this article is on point and totally relevant to what is happening to this Nation and our people in particular. Comedy is becoming a fast distraction, just like anything else and quickened to go with the flow of everything else in this material-Corporate driven land. Quick, Fast, Now. NO time to wait-not even for the punchline. The sad thing is the majority of folk are too lazy or afraid--Fear is another element that keeps us from doing what we should--to do anything about this situation our entire Country is in. No one will speak out and call to impeach Bush. It will be the downfall of the USA--just like every "great" nation that came before it. Folk are too lazy, greedy, and afraid to do what they are supposed to do-we get up in arms about how kids act today as if they got this way on their own. We can't control what The Man propagates-but we can control how we respond and how we CHOOSE to deal with OUR problems plaguing OUR communities. What are WE going to DO about this?

Comment: I agree with the the state of wher eDarryl sees our people. I am assuming he is speaking of our people. I want to say however that this is a very complex problem we are dealing with. This is my opinion, but I think many times we frame the debate in too narrow of terms. Take for instance the situation of the poor and hurricane Katrina, many people want to lay the blame of all of this at the feet of the President. Those people were poor before any hurricane came. I know there is more to this but I am trying to drive the point that there is much more to the story than what we see in our current events. We need to look deep into history and not just Black History. we need to tie back to today because we are only repeating what has happened in the past. As Black people we haven't been free very long and as for this wealth we have it is very new money for many of us. I could go on but this thing is DEEP.

Comment: I agree with the premise of the article and with what MER82 and Big Russ said--it is very deep. The Society at large is falling into shambles, but as for Black folk we have been so conditioned to numb our pain and accept Anything less than, that we act like it physically hurts to think for ourselves. It is very sad, but it was written, ironically-these are the times we know more than ever-no one can claim they don't know about anything. Information is everywhere...but the problem is no one is willing to Do anything about what we have learned. Its like we want to go down with the White man's sunken ship. We started buying full force into the hype. We lost our sense of selves, brother and sister hood. We want to blame people for being poor, we don't want to help each other, we keep supporting things that aren't good for us, we keep spending money like we really have it---and for what? Where does that leave our children?
At the end of the day, what do we really have left?
