Comment: Welcom Back Kotter was one of my favorites too, so now I guess I'll get to see it ghetto style. How boring.

Name: Grace
Comment: I fell out laughing when I heard this yesterday on one of those shows that come on at 6:30pm.

Name: robijoa
Comment: Yeah for some reason, we've seen plenty of Welcome Back Kotter type movies in the past. I can't see where all the sizzle would come from. This will be on DVD before you know it.

Name: Luke_Cage
Comment: Although I admire that Cube is involved in so many projects and extending his artistic arm into other venues, not "every" old school show or movie should be remade. Hollywood has not figured this out yet and with no real creative influences out there with original stories to tell for movies from directors or writers, folks will continue to remake all of our favorite tv shows into movies and mess them up horribly. If we haven't learned anything from watching these remade tv series or movies: Dukes of Hazzard, the Honeymooners, I Spy, The Mod Squad, Starsky & Hutch, Wild Wild West, & Bewitched is that they should never have been remade. But at least The Fugitive, Mission: Impossible, Star Trek (some of them), The Addams Family, Man on Fire, The Thing, The Untouchables and the Brady Bunch seemed to hit box office gold when they were remade. I'm not saying this is going to be a bust, but Welcome Back Kotter was one of my favorite tv programs from my childhood and some shows need to just stay untouched. It's like a current R&B young male singer trying to remake "Always & Forever." Some things are sacrilegious and should be left alone. Next we'll hear that they'll be remaking Good Times, All in the Family & The Jeffersons. Geeez.

Comment: to: Luke_Cage] You can add Dallas to your list.

Comment: Amen Luke_Cage! Remakes don't work anyway for instance oh The Honeymooners! If Cedric the Entertainer didn't already have an established career he might have been run out of town for that hot mess! I loved Welcome Back Kotter but translating it to current day with a different type cast? We'll see, Ice Cube is pretty good and getting better but this is a stretch.

Comment: LUKE_CAGE> you know, i too am with you on this. but i also think it depends on the TV show that would make a good movie. the shows that you mentioned were and should have been for TV ONLY. but, now there are TV shows that would make good movies like Mission Impossible, Star Trek, Addams Family. and it's probally due to the way it's directed too. now to be honest, i can see a TV show like, "GET CHRISTY LOVE" made into a movie or if you want to go way back, THE MAN FRON U.N.C.L.E" and you know they are turning DALLAS into a movie too. so it should be interesting.

Name: ericsgirl
Comment: I loved me some Welcome Back Kotter. I hope he use some of the original members of the show for cameo appearances. I would like to see Boom Boom Washington and Epstein. I hope this movie does well for Cube.

Name: ericsgirl
Comment: Oh yeah could you see John Travolta making a cameo in the movie singing his Barbarino song and doing the Barbarino dance.

Name: coesmo
Comment: Even though I loves Welcome back Kotter as a child, you can't bring everything back.....

Name: beboyz
Comment: I hate all theses dayum remakes. we need to respect and treasure the originals. We were talking about the Josie and the%*$!(@cats movie yesterday. It was a flop and a bad idea. I wish cube success but I already dont want to see this HAM.

Name: Luke_Cage
Comment: Very true bigchassie. Directors, storyline and liberties taken to the direction of the tv show means alot too in the end of how successful or unsuccessful a show or movie may be. McNasty, I only watched 1/2 an hour of the remake of the Honeymooners and turned it off. I like Cedric, but that was a movie that should not have been made. I remember when the first Mission: Impossible came out and they invited the old actors to come and see the screening. And they all walked out. Even though Mission: Impossible was a tight movie, the original actors hated it and the way they were portrayed in the movie.

Comment: I like Ice Cube, but this is a bad idea. It seems like it will turn out to be low budget straight to DVD type of deal (remember The Honeymooners? YUCK!) Sorry, cant support this.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: Is there not anyone in Hollywood with enough creativity to come up with original thoughts. New ideas a far and few between. I admire Cube's successful transition from rapper to actor now director but just like the Honeymooners and Dukes of Hazard this screams disaster. It will be truely difficult to incorporate those characters into today's society. That group of individuals were a reflection of the time and it will be difficult for many of us to relate to them from a modern perspective. Like ericsgirl>I would enjoy watching Travolta do the Barbarino song and dance which is why I'll purchase the DVD when it hits the shelves. In todays society, Horshack would be a social misfit. Epstein will have an identity crisis. Washington a thug. Travolta would live on the other side of town and none of them would be friends. I wish Cube luck and maybe he'll prove me wrong.

Comment: What ever happened to originality in hollywood?? I'am 40 years old and all of these "remakes" are making me sick because these ppl think that the public are stupid. Give us some original ideas and not the same tired azz recycled stuff. I can get this show on dvd so Cube better come up with something else.

Name: PHScott
Comment: Well, it's official (again)- Hollywood has TRULY run out of fresh ideas... However, if Cube wants to move forward with this personal travesty and embarrassment, perhaps he should grow his 'fro back and play the part of Epstein. That way, he can have his mother write a note explaining where the money (and his credibility)went when the movie loses millions at the box office.

Name: Gurlfrand
Comment: How about a movie version of the Beverly Hillbillies or the Munsters (they did the Addams Family back in the 90's) - what about this Miami Vice movie that Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell are currently working on?

Name: SilentJay
Comment: CAN SOMEBODY ANY BODY PLEASE TELL ME WHY? I mean didn't Cube see how bad Cedric doing the Honey Mooners was.

Name: ss69054
Comment: I think it will be a success. Cube is very intelligent and he plans very well. He has vision like no other. One thing I have always have admired about him is that he is different from the other stars. He is laid back, down to earth and HUMBLE about his success. He doesn't need an army with him to make him feel important. The only army I see is his family. I will always support him b/c of every film or project he has ever made has never been sloppy. He continues to be innovative and he doesn't limited himself to the same ole' hood movies. I wish him the best and I'm sure that his twist will be off the rocket!!

Name: bigchassie
Comment: GRULFRIEND> there was a movie about the beverly hilbillies already been made (the role of Jane Hathaway was played by Lilly Tomlin) and Miami Vice will be out in the summer.

Name: MER82
Comment: It smells like overkill to me---resurrecting stories that should have been told mind you about our legends-but there is a trend developing--telling old stories--either on dead people or old television shows and comics. Methinks I will move to Hollywood and become a script writer. New ideas for new education!!!!!!!!!!!

Name: bigchassie
Comment: TV SHOWS THAT WOULD MAKE GREAT MOVIES: "Get Christy Love" (i can see Jada pinkett smith play this) The A Team (Micheal Clarke Duncan can play BA) "Frazier" and i don't know why but i'm seeing "What's Happening?" (a great period movie going back to the 1970s) a great movie remake can be Cleopatra Jones (Vivica Fox) Ironside.

Name: beegirl
Comment: Are We There Yet was a terrible movie and does not need a sequel. I watched the free DVD at home and still wanted to walk out on the movie. Another awful Hollywood trend is that they will make a sequel to any movie that makes even a little bit of paper at the box office, quality or not. This box office slump will continue until Hollywood realizes that people want to see something ORIGINAL!

Name: DCGG
Comment: Gimme a break as stupid as this project sounds - I'd watch Welcome Back Kotter anyday over Madea...

Name: blackman
Comment: >beegirl...sorry to inform you ,but Are We There Yet? was Sony's 2nd biggest grossing film last year. Only Hitch made more for Sony. The movie was made for kids and probably not for folks your age. I actually liked it. Cube do your Thang!!!

Name: streetdancer
Comment: Bigchassie: They are going to bring The A Team to the big screen, I don't know who the cast will be but it's already been green lighted and in the works.

Name: yardie1115
Comment: I agree with everything Luke_cage had to say. I was especially angry at I Spy since that was one of my favourite shows on tele in the good old days. Even if you have the misguided notion to remake a television show, why butcher the very premise that made that show good. Everything was wrong with the I Spy movie. I became quite unwell watching the previews. Needless to say, I did not make it through that sordid mess. Do you think that these film makers actually watched the shows they are remaking? I dare say they have not. Otherwise, they might actually come up with a decent effort. What's next.. Amos and Andy?

Name: MER82
Comment: And don't forget the other infamous trend of...remaking movies that were already done or the theme of those movies like, "Can't buy me Love"/ "Love don't cost a thing"--etc.

Name: Harriet
Comment: I like Cube much better as a rapper than I do an actor. In my humble opinion he is only a mediocre actor and wasn't fond of the BARBERSHOP movies. They were mired in historical inaccuracy and rather silly at most times and that is just my humble opinion. If you enjoy his films then that is fantastic! But I do not. WELCOME BACK KOTTER wasn't even that great of a show let alone a movie. I really wish that Cube and others like him would look at the scripts that so many Blacks are having tossed to the wayside so that room may be made to rehash some bullshyt and make it into a film. What's next? THE GONG SHOW movie? That is why I read and watch old movies.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: I like Cube, but I hope this is not like the remake of the Honey Mooners. Good Grief!... And by the way, "Welcome Back Kotter" was an awesome show back in the day, but it doesn't hold up well today. You can clearly see the over acting or a lack there of.

Name: nightshift
Comment: Harriet, I think Cube is a good actor, but I also know that there are some things that should be left alone. just like this "black and white" show, tune in? I think not.
