Comment: Michael Jackson is a genius,billionaire,who knows how to run a multi-billion dollar empire.Michael did the right thing ,in closing neverland,because he does not live there anymore,he lives in Bahrain with the worlds RICHEST people ,the ARABS,the super rich oil tycoons.michael is a king,now he lives with kings ,michael is one of only a few billionaires in the world. Comment: Genius billionaires do not need court orders for folks to get paid. GENIUS ?yeah If knowing how to get over on the little guy while you live high on the hog is genius.. then genius he be. He probably lives in Bahrain cuz they dumb enough to extend him a line of credit on his name alone. He used all that up here so now he milking the folks over seas. I ain't going for it!!

Comment: good decision, Mijac. 69 employees coming to work for 3 months supposedly not being paid makes me go, ummmm? also, quite of few of his employees were housed there not paying any bills and being paid to 'work'... but if your boss was away for over 6mos... how much work would you do? Let them go Mike..now Roger Friedman's mole is out of a job...poor Roger..he has to find a different way to create those fantasy stories...LASTLY..Mike is not selling Neverland...

Comment: yunvme and Jusaying the whole story is not in the reports that is in the media...Mijac has always gone above and beyond for his employees since 1984 when he bought Neverland....when he moved to Bahrain staff was let go because he wasn't going to be there and that was arranged from last year...ummm???

"He therefore decided to close his house and reduce his work force."
The action came a day after state labor officials announced that Jackson had agreed to pay his Neverland Ranch employees hundreds of thousands of dollars in back wages, avoiding a lawsuit by the California Department of Industrial Relations.
Employees who received their back pay Thursday were told they were being laid off because the state had shut down the ranch, the syndicated television news magazine "Entertainment Tonight" reported on its Web site Thursday night.

Comment: Now, I may be fried for saying this, but um, if your boss left the country and had no plans to return, why would you not look for another job? Who are these people who would work for 3 months and get no money? If my firm was closing, or if I see partners, etc., bailing, that would be the signal for me to jet, unless I thought I had something coming. How in the world did they hold back the banks with the mortgage, carnote, etc. I mean things happen to us for sure, but do we have a responsibility to remove ourselves from a situation that is not working for us?

Comment: I think there are people in society that if given the chance to work for/with one of the biggest celebrities in the world, and to be a part of that exclusive world- they will do anything to remain there. Most of these people were living there rent free. No rent, no bills, free food, living in a Mansion. Who wouldnt stay?

Comment: Hmmmmmmmmmmm, The Department of Labor can choose to lower the fine, if they feel the person in arears is making a "goodfaith" effort to pay back wages. I have no doubt, that MJ will pay. AS for the rest, I will await Ms.Bain's comments on anything else........

Comment: Gurlfrand, you asked a valid question and if you knew the LD.. you would have the answer...what I will say the the labor depart just like PETA reacted to a story on Mijac from a tabloid report without checking and getting the facts...if you read the articles about this story from last week upto today...you will see certain info is being left out... like where is this supposed injured employee that prompt the department to send this story into news headlines...ummm??? In any case, glad Mijac trim the fat at Neverland..

Comment: Mijac needs to be a little more careful with how he treats his employees. The mom of one of his former accusers worked for him, and sometimes people get mad enough to seek revenge. As for all the ques about why would people stay if they weren't getting paid, I would stay too. I would quit doing my daily duties (who would find out anyway) and spend my time snooping around, trying to find any kind of dirt that the tabloids would pay me top dollar for. Besides, you know the state department will make sure you get your money anyway. I bet some of those folks just clocked in and hung out. Plus, I bet a lot of those people worked with the animals and would've done anything to make sure they were okay, even take a financial hit (you know how hardcore some animal lovers are).
