Comment: Good Morning, Happy Friday, and Patty's Day to the Back Irish folk on the board. Sincere thanks to everyone who said a prayer for my baby, she is doing much better and starting to take more food each day. She had an allergic reaction to the Amoxicillan (sp?), she was taking it for an ear infection. I don't usually celebrate this day, but after the week I had I think I might outdrink all of the Irish people at the bar today.

Comment: Before cops threw the book at him, Jakub Fik threw something unusual at them -- his penis. Fik, 33, cut off his own penis during a Northwest Side rampage Wednesday morning. When confronted by police, Fik hurled several knives and his severed organ at the officers, police said. Officers stunned him with a Taser and took him into custody. "We took him out without any serious injury, with the exception of his own," said Chicago Police Sgt. Edward Dolan of the 16th District. Doctors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital reattached Fik's penis Wednesday, sources said. He was listed in good condition Thursday, according to hospital spokesman Andrew Buchanan, who declined to comment further. Smashing car windows Fik, who lives in the 5400 block of W. Berenice, is charged with two counts of aggravated %*$ault and one count of criminal damage to property, said Officer Laura Kubiak. He told paramedics he was distraught over problems with his girlfriend in Poland, Dolan said. Police arrived on Fik's block at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports he was smashing car windows, Dolan said. Fik then broke into a house down the block. A group of six or seven officers %*$embled in front of the house, Dolan said. The occupants were not home, he added. Fik was bleeding when the officers arrived and may have already cut off his organ, Dolan said. "At that point, this guy came running out, naked, with a handful of knives . . . and started throwing knives at the police officers that were 10, 20, 30 feet away," Dolan said. Fik threw his penis during the confrontation, too, Dolan said. He then went back into the house and re-emerged with "another handful of knives," Dolan said. Dolan sneaked to the side of the bungalow's front steps and stunned Fik with the Taser. Fik fought back when officers went to restrain him, Dolan said. "About 10 feet from the front porch, right on the sidewalk, was his penis," Dolan said. Dr. Greg Bales, associate professor of urology at the University of Chicago, said severed penises are uncommon but surgery usually works. "As long as the penis is placed on ice and reattached within a few hours, the success is usually pretty good," Bales said.

Comment: He was a suspect from the start, and on Thursday the 16-year-old was charged with last month's stabbing death of an 11-year-old boy in his West Side apartment complex, a law enforcement source told the Sun-Times. James Terry of Chicago was charged as an adult Thursday with first-degree murder. The teen had been detained for the past 30 days in the county juvenile detention center on a drug possession charge. DNA cemented case The charges come nearly a month to the day after the stabbing of Clay Ether in an apartment building at 3550 W. Washington, where the boy lived with his mother. A source said the charges were filed after the suspect's DNA was found on the knife used in the slaying -- evidence that reportedly cemented the state's case against the teen. Testing was done at Illinois State Police Crime Lab "recently," according to the source. Terry has denied the charges. Details about a motive in the killing were not available, and family said there would be no reason someone would go after Clay, the quiet, affable kid they knew as "C.J." But at the time of the slaying, police and relatives said Clay, a student at Robert Emmet Academy, was stabbed in the chest about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 15 after he allegedly got into a quarrel with a man in an upstairs apartment where Clay had gone to play video games. Clay was able to return to the family's apartment and offer his final words: "Mom, I've been stabbed." Terry is expected to be in bond court today at 26th and California.

Comment: ROME, Ga. -- Police believe the remains of two fetuses found in a storage unit were self-aborted by the wife of a former Indiana women's basketball coach. That information, released in a police statement Thursday, was the latest in the bizarre case that started last week when authorities in Bay County, Fla., received a tip that Sarah Jo Warner Izard had told friends she kept the remains of two fetuses in a storage shed in Rome. Izard is the wife of the late coach Jim Izard, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Feb. 28. Were any laws broken? "Sarah Jo Izard told the third party that she had been pregnant two times, one time in 2001 and one time in 2002,' Rome police said in the statement. "Both of these times she had allegedly self-aborted these pregnancies and she had saved the remains of the fetuses.' Authorities are trying to determine if any laws were broken. No charges have been filed, and police are unwilling to speculate on what laws, if any, may have been violated for storing the fetuses. The Izards lived in Rome for two years when Jim Izard coached the Berry College women's basketball team. He resigned in January 2005 and moved to Florida, where he committed suicide last month. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta is performing DNA analysis and other tests on the fetuses, which is expected to last at least another two weeks. The investigation started last week when Rome police were informed by the Bay County sheriff's office that Sarah Izard had told friends that she stored the remains in a green plastic container inside a leased storage unit. On March 9, police searched the storage unit and found the container, removing two smaller containers from inside it -- each holding a human fetus in some sort of liquid, Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson said. Henderson said that the state crime lab's initial finding was that one fetus was a male and another was "too disintegrated to determine gender.'

WOW. After looking at BET for so many years, it had ME thinking that black folks are a bunch of shucking n jiving, beligerant grill-wearers. TV One is a breath of fresh air. I haven't watched 5 minutes of BET since that channel popped up. If I want to see videos, I usually watch MTV2. Bottom line, I've written BET off. They are dead to me.

Comment: bighead< Thanks for posting that for Thruthefire. Speaking of divas, there is a lady I work with who is a Director here (very important) and we always compare clothes, shoes etc. Welllll she is a fabulous woman HOWEVER she has a HUGE BALD SPOT!!!!. Well, she is always complimenting on my style and I tell everybody that I wear wigs. I was trying to convince her to wear one and she said she doesn’t think she can b/c it would be like she was trying to be someone else. Well, finally she bought a wig, and homegirl looks beautiful. I had to pat myself on the back b/c she was way too fabulous to walk around with a bald spot.

Name: bigheadbull2
Comment: Never been to PM or KofP must try them. I'm taking my daughter Chanel to Arundel Mills this weekend for a sping fling only because she put my little love basket up to asking me. He said " Na-na can you buy my mommy some clothes?" Of course I told him yes but I think that place is overpriced not that it was ever billed as a discount mall. The good news is they opened a Neimans on the 3rd of March.

Comment: My 15yr old niece is so interesting. She is off today and has a laptop in her room. It is not connected to the internet but she figured out that there are 2 spots in her room where she can get wireless. I go downstairs and she closes the laptop. I make her log it back on and she is on Instant messenger with someone. So I say to her: I know you are on the computer, so why would you close it when I walk over? It looks so sneaky, like you are doing something wrong. I don't know about that child with all her attitude.

Name: bigheadbull2
Comment: I will say this once and only once. Every woman should own at least two wigs. A short one and a long one. I own none myself but I will. You never know when one will come in handy. Now if you are one of those strange birds who's identity is tied to their hair I would not advise a wig but counseling for you.LOL

Comment: IJA - I've seen women with visibly thinning hair or huuuge bald spots. I think if I had either, I'd just shave my head bald. That way, when I sometimes wore a wig, it wouldn't itch so bad. Then again, I wouldn't have anything to pin it to...In honor of St. Patrick's day, I just had an apple martini for breakfast (its kinda green). Let me now chase it down with some food and get some work done...

Comment: I hope you black mother's and fathers on here are chastising their children. Beat that azz when they get out of line, my friend was telling me the other day about a 16 year old girl acting like a 4 yr old with her mother asking for something she wanted the girl called her mother a %*$!( (white Woman) he said the woman slapped the girl so hard she fell into the cans stacked up in the aisle. She ran and got the security who in turn called the police. The police came and the woman told them what happen and they put the handcuffs on her, she told them to take the girl because she couldn't come back home with her and told them that if she called her another bytch she was going to kick her azz again. Well they let her go because evidently the girl was acting out so bad that others testified to how the little trollop was acting when the mother hit her. I don't believe in slapping but I guess if a child of mine caught me off guard I might have done the same thing. But I do believe in beating that butt. I am not going to raise someone in my house and allow them to rule over me and to call me whatever comes to their mind, and in my house it is my way or the highway take your pick. You can't live under my roof unless you follow the laws of my house and that is child or man.

Comment: A friend of mines niece has been acting up in school and at home. His sister has been trying to be patient with her. But the girl came home real late one night last week and when her moms asked her where she was the girl got smart. An argument ensued and the girl cursed her mother out. At that point the mother lost it and beat dat azz! The girl said i'm going to call the cops and the mother said go ahead (the same thing my moms would have said). Well guess what? she called the cops and the cops came and arrested the mother. It was a Thursday night so she had to say there over the weekend! The parents dont want the girl back in the house. The little girl is only 12! I'm sorry but I but i believe spare the rod and spoil the child! I'm not saying children should be abused but if they deserve a spanking they're gonna get one. I used to want kids but now i don't. If that was me when they released me from jail i would have told them to they might as well follow me home because i'm gonna beat dat azz again!

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Arch and CQ< Spankings don't work for every child. You have to tailor discipline according to the person. I was an only child so me and my parents were really close. I probably got spanked once. But spanking would have never worked for me b/c I am very good with pain therefore you would have to beat the sh!t out of me before I would even care. What worked for me is when my father would say "i'm disappointed in you" and would refuse to talk any further - then I would cry and cry and cry. Kids react to being hit the same way adults do. For many kids spanking makes them resentful and teaches them to fix things with violence. I think people grow up to be disciplined IN SPITE of spanking not because of it. JMO

Name: sigmascribe
Comment: I made it back. I am a lifelong Auntie! AND I will tax that azz!! The teenage years earn nice open hand slaps to the mouth...because that's what usually gets them in trouble. You can think about what is said so there is no reason for that to be the means to your end. One of my god-daughters tried that getting help because I popped her in public. I told her I had bail money. And if she kept it up I would get my monies worth.

Name: TommyStrong
Comment: LMAO @ sigman

Name: mickidee
Comment: IJA - I have an only child and I found that me telling her how that I am disappointed in her does the trick for me. Of course, when she was much younger, she did get a spanking from me. I look at some children and think they definitely need a spanking, and if their parents won't do it, I would love to. I usually say that I have been blessed, because my daughter hasn't given me harldy any problems in all her 17 years. I agree that you have to tailor discipline according to the person though, because each child may be different. Now this is a trip with children, sometimes they act one way with their parents, but another way with other people. I usually have a way with children, where they will listen to whatever it is I tell them, and I get a lot of respect from them. I have been viewed as being mean, because I am not afraid to tell them NO, but I dont' believe you should let children get away with certain things.

Name: mickidee
Comment: Sigma - I hear you on that one!!

Name: asize12
Comment: Well, I agree w/Arch, CQ but I also agree w/ IJA because it does depend on the child. I actually did/do whoop my kids because it was necessary. My daughter got whooped when she was younger (she's 15 now) and my son (he's 9) still get them depending on the severity of the crime that he commits. His last whooping was when he was 8 and it was for clownin' @ school, momma don't play that. Now that he's a bit older and he understands that we don't tolerate misbehaving in school, he's gotten his act together for the most part. It's funny because now, we've come up with a better way to discipline him if he cuts up @ school. My son LOVES money, when I say LOVE I mean LOVE! He told me when he was 5 that he'd be rich by the time he graduates from high school. He's tight w/ his money and he saves very well. So, my husband came up with the idea of taking his money and giving him $10 each week that he's good at school. When I told my son that we were going to do that, he cried crocodile tears! You would've thought that I beat the po' child! So, what we did was take $100 of his money and like I said, we give him $10 if he behaved himself for that week. I told his teacher about it and asked her to give us a weekly report of his behavior and if he was good the ENTIRE week, then he got $10, if not he got ZILCH! This has been working SO well, he has already collected $70 of his money back! I just got his report card yesterday and she said that his behavior has improved tremendously. So, the moral to this story is, whooping him wasn't working, taking his money DOES!

Comment: Tommy>> I have 2 boys, and I'm raising them alone...they know that I'm crazy, and I don't play, but they will test me, and I'll knock them out, they want to test me again, knock 'em out again. I'm heavy handed, so I don't have to use a belt. I tell my kids, especially the youngest, cause he's a dramatic little sucker, that if I go to jail for whupping them, whoever has to bail me out is going to whup them, then when I get home, they are going to get another one and then they will be packing their stuff up cause I'm not the one for a kid to think they are going to run me....IJA>> You are right, spankings don't work for everyone, like right now, I'm doing other means of punishing, but I throw in the occasional beating when necessary..let them know, I still got it. I have 2 boys who are going to be taller than me, so therefore they need to know, I don't care if you 7 foot, my 5'2 1/2 azz will lay you out by any means necessary! LOL!

Name: asize12
Comment: LOL @ trini! Girl, the reason my daughter was on punishment was because her a*ss was on her CELL phone until 4am! See, her slick butt didn't know that I can monitor her calls online. She gone write me a long letter telling me how 'sorry' she was and that she'd never do it again thinking that I wouldn't put her on punishment...WRONG!!!! So, I took her phone from her & kept it w/ me while I was sleep. Why did her cornhead boyfriend (we call him cornhead) send her a text message the next night @ 3am!!! I texted him back & said "Chris, this is Deja's mother and I would appreciate it if you would not text nor call her between the hours of 12am - 8am, thank you." I wish I could've seen his face when he received that text! LOL

Ever since then when I would get mad at my mom I would not talk back, I would say, mom I’m mad at you, and she would say why? LOL And there would be a discussion about why she wasn’t letting me do what I wanted. She never changed her mind as a result of the discussion but it helped me understand her POV. If I do have kids, which I’m not sure about, I hope I never carry out the urge to hit them and I’m sure I will have the urge. People say, a child shouldn’t hit a parent or family member b/c the child should love and respect them. Well, if you love and respect your child then why hit? I can’t get with the spanking thing. To me, spanking is something people do when they don’t know what else to do. I know that black people consider that a white way of thinking but I just can’t accept someone hitting me or me hitting someone else – unless I’m competitively boxing which I have done in the past. There’s always a chance that you could hit a child and they react by hitting you, not because they want to or think that it’s ok, but because that’s a NATURAL human reaction. Then, as an adult you’d be pizzed and humiliated if you got your azz kicked. Then you would want to take a different approach. but like I said, I don’t have kids but I do know I would never dream of hitting my dog!!

Comment: IJA, Oprah said the same thing, she doesn't believe in spanking...what do you 2 have in common? Neither of you have kids. I actually think it depends on the child because some kids need spankings, and I'm not saying BEATINGS, there's a BIG difference. To each his own, but I think if a lot of these kids today had gotten their a*ss whooped, they wouldn't be as disrespectful as they are! Without discipline, your kids will run you, period. Discipline doesn't always have to be whoopings but I believe that your children should have a small dose of fear in their parents. Meaning that before they do something ignit, the think in the back of their head "Oooh, momma or daddy will kill me if I do this!" So, 9 times outta 10 they won't do it. But then on the other hand you have those kids that do it anyway and suffer the consequences. All I can say is to do what you feel is best as a parent, that's all you can do. Nobody know's how their kids will turn out. You just have to pray for them daily, that's what I do.

Comment: Trini>> That is my dance since it is Friday! Yall ain't ready for that! lol I believe that discipline depends on the child. When I became a teenager, putting me on punishment worked for me. I should have worked for Sprint since my right ear was always hooked to a phone. So, to take that phone away from me was devastating. And, if while on punishment I managed to roll an eye, or suck a tooth--my mom would quickly add another week. I remember one time I was up to like two months. AND my momma wasn't slick. Trini--my momma got high tech on a sista. When she went to work, she took that little piece out of the phone handset so that you could HEAR folks, but they couldn't hear you...

So as a social worker I know her anger is understandable. She lives with us has her own room, private school, the works! Her mom has a gang of sisters (all of who hate my brother) who are very much in her life. She got so much attitude tho!!!! I wonder if we messed up by not lettin her have it when she was younger, or if we did right considering her circumstances.

Comment: Kids today got it made for real. If we could call the cops in my youth, my whole family would be on death row. For example, when my mother went grocery shopping we could not leave the house, not even to the corner and play strikeout or softball. My brother tried it once, he got beat so bad we called him Kunta Kinte. We still joke about that. But guess what, none of us stepped out of line. There are too many distractions now. High priced gym shoes, snooze dreams, ipods, internet access, cable and cell phones. When you take away most of that, you can get them to focus.

So I remember it very well and I know that kids have reasons for doing things that don't go away by you putting your hands on them. Some of the things your kids do may seem petty and simple to you but to them they are big deals - I'm only speaking as the youngest person here.

Comment: VANCOUVER -- Oregon City, Portland and Vancouver police have broken up what they say is a bank fraud scheme that used homeless people to open fake accounts, spanned three states and netted an estimated $300,000. Dan A. Orlovskiy of Vancouver, who is described in a search warrant affidavit as the scheme "leader," is scheduled to be arraigned today in Clark County Superior Court on 19 charges. People involved in the scheme opened accounts at Bank of America in various Washington cities and then quickly made deposits at branches throughout the Portland area and in California using stolen or forged checks, according to a March 2 search warrant affidavit. The money was then quickly withdrawn. Homeless people -- including one recruited from Sacramento -- were paid $100 to open the accounts, and the Sacramento man was given $50-$200 to make as many as several fraudulent deposits a day, the affidavit said. Deposits also were made by Orlovskiy and others, said Portland police Officer Travis Fields, who added that most of the money made through the scheme's estimated 500 bogus transactions over the past 11/2 years apparently was used to pay off the mortgage for Orlovskiy's home -- %*$essed at $486,700, according to records at the Clark County %*$essor's Office. The 3,850-square-foot home was listed for sale Wednesday at $795,000. "I don't know if I'll ever get another one of these," Fields said of the case. He said more arrests are expected. Orlovskiy, who has owned a construction company, is being held in Clark County Jail on $50,000 bail. He will be charged today with 10 counts of second-degree identity theft and nine counts of unlawful possession of payment instruments.

Comment: >IJA I agree with you that spanking doesn't work for every child and I don't just advocate to beat your kids azzes on GP, but I do think in some cases corporal punishment is necessary. If I had a child and he/she wouldn't mind me and I chastised them and they called the police, they azzes would be living in the "reform school" do they even have them anymore? But on the real child nothing can live in my house that is not respectful or obedient to me (I am not asking my man to be obedient-just real and considerate)but no child of mine would be cursing me out, that bytch would be minus a tongue when I got through with her azz. Hey I don't beleive in child abuse, but have you ever wondered why so many kids are getting into crime so early, poor parenting. This government has pfucked up the home by imposing their judgement into family matters. I don't believe in bull whipping kids, knocking them down stairs or anything that extreme but you got to mind me and that's just it. I FEEL SORRY FOR ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE KIDS THAT ARE OUT OF CONTROL!

Comment: Good Morning...child abuse is pushing a kid down the stairs; or flicking lit matches--sticking their head in the toilet--that kind of stuff. Whipping is different than beating, but a few good smacks on an out of control kid is good because it tells the kid they are NOT in control. If parents are consistent, by the time kids reach a certain age--a parent should just be able to give the "evil eye" and the "churrin" should instantly get to acting right. Also, kids like to show out in public so there should be a "special" place--maybe a few feet away from the "incident"--(if the evil eye doesn't work) where the parent can pull the kid over to the side and ah --well you know...

She thought I was bluffin', so I actually called Annie Malone & asked them if they had a program for girls that are misbehaving and the lady said, "Yes!" They let them stay there for a week so that when they leave, they'll have a better appreciation of they're parents and their life. I swear, I had that # on speed dial! Another punishment that works for her now is taking her basketball priveleges away. She plays ball @ school and if I told her that she couldn't play or go to practice, she's pass out! So far I haven't had to do that, she's a pretty good kid for the most part. Now my son, he's the little mischevious one. I remember when he was in the kindergarten, he went to a private school. Why the principal gone tell me "Have you ever thought of putting him on Ridlin?" (she's was white)First, I asked her "Are you a psychiatrist?" Second, I told her "Ridlin is just a cop out for these teachers because they don't know how to control the kids in their class." I told her that I refused to put my child on a drug that would alter his character just because his passive teacher didn't know how to control him in class!

Comment: Hello Everyone. Things have been a whirlwind for me in the past week or so with all the family issues, health issues and just plain ol everyday issues. My father is starting dialysis next week so I am in the process of dealing with that whole thing. I know a lot of you guys read my Advice Chick letter posted yesterday. Actually, the letter was written a month ago and just decided to send it to her last week just to see the feedback it would get. (See Advice Board my comments) But with all the things I am trying to do, I will not be posting on Eurweb anymore. As much as I would like to hang with some of you, I know I simply don't have the time (or in many cases, the sanity) for it. It used to be cool to have an objective opinion about things but many of you take it to a whole new level. Some of you I have met and I hope we can still run into each other from time to time. But in all, take care of yourselves and it's been real. Peace!

Comment: My cousin's 15 year old daughter thought she was bad as heyell when she got to sophomore year in high school. She was VERY VERY VERY spoiled from the jump - so it only got worse as she got older. Well, she got this lil boyfriend from the other side of town and started wilding out. Staying out late, talking back, etc. Then one day she came in late and her Dad reminded her that she was only 15 and she can't come in the house when she wants to. He put her on punishment and she said "Whatever, see if you can keep me in here." He stepped to her with his finger in her face and before he could get the full "Listen Young Lady" out, she punched him in the stomach. He doubled over (he's a little chunky, lol) and she pushed him down the rest of the way. WELL, her Mom comes down the hall and peeps the scene. She was like OH HEEELLLL NAW - YOU HAVE LOST YOUR DAYUM MIND!! Oh you so bad huh? Well, Moms threw those hands up and challenged her to a street fight. And MOMS whooped that azz for real. And guess what? All of that bs she was doing before STOPPED immediately. She graduated 2 years ago with honors and is currently a junior in college with a 3.8 GPA. Behaves beautifully and is a real upstanding young woman. But dayum - it took a REAL beatdown to bring her back to her senses. Today she still gets embarrassed when someone brings it up, but she chuckles a bit and says I don't know what I was thinking. So, you just never know....

Comment: GHANK it is normal to be disappointed.; however, your disappointment is equivalent to being unhappy. It is ok to be unhappy at times, but when it is the essence of who you are, it drains and repels people because they always have to pick you up and encourage you. I recommend that you use your faith in God to become a light. People are always attracted to the light. As you become a happier person, you will attract positive people in your life that will support you and believe in you. When the time is right, you will find a woman that will believe that you can go from living at home to owning one. A woman that knows that older men often make great parents. A woman that knows that God put the union together because the internet, single ministries, blind dates, etc… never worked. With almost 7 billion people on the planet, you can easily believe that one is for you. You can strike out a million times, you only need one home run. Stay positive and when you least expect it God will bless you.

Comment: LawdHvMrcy my children are grown and they won't cuss in front of me at all. Now that my children are grown and I have quite time, I see I raised them with a hard hand like my mother did. I know this might sound abusive but my daughter (that oldest one again, she was my thorn in the side and my mirror when she was a teenager) was coming through my door at the age of 16 at 1:30 (way past her curfew) and started to lie about where she had been and before I knew it I had throw my crystal drinking glass at her and cut her leg. I felt bad the next day but at that moment I didn't. *hanging head with a sneeky smile on my face* We are a great mother daughter team now cause she is grown and have her own now :O)

In fact she's the one who taught me how to cuss. Its crazy because most people think wow, that is so disrespectful, but they don't mind it. Now 10 years ago if I cursed in front of them I would have been toothless

Name: LawdHvMrcy
Comment: Trini, my grandmother has a sailor's mouth. I think she says 'shyt' more than a port-a-john cleaner. I have to tell her sometimes that she can not speak like that around the children *pointing at myself*-- to which she exclaims "Aww Shyt, you ain't no dayum child no more!" Her vulgar vocabulary is limited to the 'less vulgar' curse words. I have only heard her say 'f*ck' once, but it was when she was telling one of her infamous nasty jokes...

Comment: bigbullhead2- ". . .Now if you re one of those strange birds who's identity is tied to thier hair I would not advise a wig but counseling for you. . ." Strange birds? I think it is fine and dandy if a woman wants to wear a wig but I don't think it necessary to insult those who prefer natural hair and styles more conducive to their self and history. My identity is not defined by my hair- my hair is an extension of my identity. Because I did not want to be bald or thinning at 40, I decided at 33 to stop proceessing my hair. I did that so that wearing a wig would be an option and not a mandate. Going natural is not easy for there are so many people opposed to natural nappy nicca hair. I read a couple of weeks ago of a new requirement of no "ethnic or natural hairstyles- mainly locks- in the Hampton MBA program. They said it didn't fit into their model of success. Hampton University is a Black school! I don't think that people who prefer thier natural hair and styles need counseling. Just a little bit more acceptance and understanding and less accusations of being crazy for choosing to rock their own hair.

Comment: Harriet< Girl you be taking everything so personal! bighead can and will speak for herself but I don't think that was the way she meant that. Anyhoo, I did see the article about Hampton banning the ethnic hairstyles. Hampton has a strict dress code as it is so I just add that to the long list of things you can't do at that school. I don't believe in stifling anyone's identity but I believe they are concerned about the students being dimissed b/c of their hair when entering the job market. I think they could be making a mistake though b/c the more blacks who wear natural styles, the more it is accepted and therefore not looked upon as strange by whites. I wear my hair naturally like Kelis so it's big and bouncy however, I don't do that on job interviews, I waited until I was already working there.

I am excited, I must admit. We haven't had an exciting receiver in Dallas since Michael Irvin. Don't get me wrong. I like Keyshawn and think he probably got screwed as Dallas furiously worked to free up monies for T.O. and possibly (or more like prayerfully) Vince Carter. That is one of the things I hate about Dallas- the bulley like tactics they use when it comes to their players and I am still pizzed that Emmit Smith's jersey hasn't been retired. I guess you gotta be a white boy to get honored like that in Dallas. Anyway, the thought of T.O. in Dallas is still delicious.

Comment: Asize12 hi my angel. It depends there are meds to consider, how one is styling ones hair(braids, and yes even sponge rollers) look around at some women who came up in the 70 wearing sponge rollers and see that most of there hairlines begin at the neck. Your genes are the key to hair thinning and growth outside of medication side effects. A good supplement is nicion you can buy at the beauty supply or health food store. Dont be too alarmed if you see hair thinning every four to seven years more than usual. Hair goes throught three phases catogen, telogen, and antogen , conversly, fall, growth and replacement. On a daily basis 150 to 200 shedding hairs is normal. You will see more during the fall and replacement stage again every 4/7 years. And we shed more in the winter and fall on GP. If you should see shedding hair and a bulb on the end I would go to a doctor or hairdresser in that order cause there could be an underlying symptom. You may also try switching products too. You don't state if you relax your hair or what shampoos and conditioners you use. For example creme of nature is stunning for its detangleing properties yet over time your hair will not hold a style because the product builds up on the hair that is why it is good to use a clarifing conditioner after rinse repeat. We can get into this more once I am more informed on your hair grooming habits if this is even about you. Hope I have not gone on too long on this subject but I love it so.

Weave is my BESTEST friend;-) My sister is a Weavologist and she's been doing my hair for about 8 years. I only put a very mild relaxer in my hair maybe once a year when I wanna wear a ponytail just to give the full head of weave a rest. So, for all of y'all that saw my page on myspace, NOPE that's not my hair! Well, the main picture isn't my hair. The other pics of me are my hair and those pics are like 4 years old so my hair has gotten a lot worse since then. I do believe that it's hereditary because my mother, & my 2 younger sisters all have thinning hair. It really doesn't bother me that much because my sister does such an awesome job w/ weaving my hair. But, every now & then I think about the good ole' days when I used to have healthy hair.

If your papilla has not been damaged due to trama or sponge rollers it will grow back and somewhat thicker with the rogaine. Also for any one have had surgery in the last 6 mths to a year don't be alarmed if your hair starts falling if it not a head trama and had to be cut it will grow back.
