Comment: I guess we were all thinking the same thing. How in the heck is that house going to have one bathroom? $70,000 a month is alot of money. He might as well buy the house. I wish i could win and see him in concert at his house though.

Comment: Of course EUR left out a big chunk of the article, but there were 11 bathrooms not 1. Anyway, here's some of the story..
MARCH 20--Claiming that his $70,000-a-month tenant Prince undertook an extremely tacky makeover of his Los Angeles mansion, an NBA star recently sued the mercurial singer over the purple-hued alterations. In a January complaint, Carlos Boozer, a forward with the Utah Jazz, sued Prince/MPG Music over unauthorized work done on the 10-bedroom, 11-bath West Hollywood property, which is owned by the C Booz Multifamily I LLC. According to the lawsuit, Prince/MPG Music violated its eight-month lease by "painting the exterior of the [house] with purple striping, 'prince' symbol, and numbers 3121." Prince's new album, "3121," is scheduled for release tomorrow. Inside the home, among other renovations, a purple monogrammed carpet was installed in the master bedroom and plumbing and piping was added in the downstairs bedroom "for water transfer for beauty salon chairs." As part of a promotion, Prince is expected to hold a private concert at the Hollywood property--which recently was listed for sale at $11.9 million--for album purchasers who find a Wonkaesque "purple ticket" inside their CD cases. The Boozer corporation filed its lawsuit two months after hand-delivering a "three-day notice to cure or quit" to the Sierra Alta Way property (which can be seen in the aerial photo above). Responding to the lawsuit, Prince's counsel denied the owner's allegations, adding that rent was accepted for December and January "without objection." In mid-February, a month after the complaint was filed, an attorney for the Boozer company sought the suit's dismissal, a request the court approved. Since the dismissal was granted "without prejudice," the landlord has the ability to file another suit on the same claims. The Prince/MPG Music lease, which ends May 31, stipulates that all parties involved in the rental agree to sign a confidentiality agreement about the deal. It also states that the tenant may cancel the lease with 45 days notice "should the weather conditions of the Los Angeles rainy season...prohibit enjoyment of the property."

Comment: LOL, I guess Prince said since he is paying a total $560,000 for 8 months at $70,000 a month why not change a few things. LMAO! This is Prince and I just love him. I bet the upgrades stay when Prince moves out and the market price on the property will go up even higher just because Prince Occupied the home for 8 months.

Comment: Why would Prince rent a house first off, with the address of 3121 in Los Angeles and then re-decorate it ala Paisley Park - his estate in Minneapolis? Prince has always been a bit eccentric but this makes no sense whatsoever to me...

Comment: Boozer makes to much money, his game ain't all that. I got a good laugh over this and when you have FU money, you can do whatever you want. By the way the CD 3121 is the slap as my lil sis would say.

Comment: Hehehehehe! This article made my day....I loooooove Prince and all of his eccentric ways! Like someone said, if anything they will be able to get more money for the property now just because "His Royal Badness" put his gorgeous self thru the door. I just love it!

Comment: CTFU! Go on, Gemini. Prince says hey, if I must be there and payin' all that dough, why not make the situation condusive to my flow? LMBAO! I saw the changes on Eyewitness News last night, hell, it anything, he made it better. That royal purple carpet was off the meter, it made me feel comfortable and soothed just looking at it. His name symbol was in the same style that gothic, caligraphic type work that is the same as the 3121 numbering over the door of the joint, so if anything, Prince enhanced the muf%*$!a!

Comment: Khufu, it's a white spacious house that looks like the Roman baths. With wide columns and spaciousness. I could see why he dug it, it's really airy and spacious, with an aura of total freedom to converse with the Gods.

Comment: Ericsgirl...L.A. rent is high period. The average one bedroom apartment (in a multi-unit property) runs about a grand a month. Depending on where you live, singles (smallunits w/no bedrooms)are about the same price. I have relatives in the South who nearly pass out when I tell them how much I spend every month.

Comment: dsgirl, yeah that is high. I am in Dallas and if you are paying $1000 a month that is for a townhouse or 2 bedroom. And that is in a nice area.

Comment: That situation will be well taken cared of. Prince's net worth got a major boost during the Musicology Tour and he was rich before that too. He will pay that off with pocket change. Could EUR find a more recent pic of Prince? That pic looks circa 1996.

Comment: I live in SF area. You can't find anything for less than $2000/month and that can be a hole in the wall. Cross the bay in Oakland, you can probably find a 1 bedroom for $1700/month in Jack London Square. Any cheaper and you will be living in an area you wouldn't want to take the most hardened criminal.

Comment: I don't know if Prince will be able to make good on his promise to make amends. He spends like he's MiJac. I think that guy was smart to agree to drop the suit w/o prejudice so he can file again if Mr. Purple Haze forgets he f'ed up the man's crib.

Comment: DCGG: It does make sense about renting the place in LA. How do you get music and movie moguls to come to Minnesota? I'd pay $70,000 a month to avoid going there.

Comment: HOLLYWOOD - Fans waiting to buy copies of Prince's highly anticipated new album, "3121," were greeted with something even better - a surprise performance by Prince himself.
Wearing a white top hat and jacket early Tuesday, the pop-funk maestro launched into a punchy set of songs at midnight at the Sunset Tower Records in Hollywood.
Fans screamed, dancers onstage shimmied, Prince broke out his frenzied guitar playing, and longtime collaborator Sheila E joined in on percussion, according to a Tower press release. "It was an impromptu decision. He lives in L.A.," said Serena Gallagher, publicist for Prince's label, Universal Motown Records.
About 500 fans who received special purple wristbands at 10 p.m. packed into the store, leaving others outside in the rain.
Prince performed classic hits such as "Let's Go Crazy" and "Purple Rain" and invited attendees onto the stage for a dance contest.

Comment: >khufu - Prince used to own property out here in Cali years ago, but, he sold it - a lot of stars have either decided to remain residents in their own hometown, or move somewhere else other than Cali - property taxes out here are ridiculous and you don't get a whole lot for your money, unless you are Hefner, Spielberg, or Aaron Spelling.

Comment: Damn Prince :)
You know that's cold-blooded to leave fans in the rain. It's bad enough we near cry when it sprinkles 'cause its enough to make our hair go back and we sure can't drive in a few drops from the sky. Especially in Hollyweird. How 'bout a couple of guitar riffs at Amoeba Records tonight between 6-8p. Just a joke, folks. Ercisgirl, I got folks in DFW and they did ask me about relocating recently. Hmm. DCGG, that's funny and I haven't heard the word efficiency since about '97. They combined them make high @$$ rent.
