Basketball tournament: After leading for most of last night’s game at the Philly Palestra, Chester fell apart under defensive pressure and lost 70-65. With around 20 seconds left to play, a bottle of Haterade was thrown to the court from the Chester section of fans, to which the Lower Merion radio announcer commented by calling the Chester fans/community “criminals and animals.” He also said that he “expected that from them.”

To everyone out there who was offended by the commented that slipped out of my mouth during tonight's Lower Merion/Chester games, I am sorry for what I said and deeply regret how the comment was perceived.
I listened to the tape and played it back several times. My comment was, "Fans are throwing open gatorade bottles onto the court. One just splashed all over the place. THey are criminals and animals. Chester fans continue to rain down water bottles now. This poorly represents the Chester community--but it's what I'd expect from them."
I did not intend to call the chester community criminals or animals. I specifically meant to point out that I thought the specific fans who threw the bottles onto the court were acting poorly...and I slipped and said animals and criminals.
Regardless, I should not have said this and I went way too far. It was an emotional, roller coaster game, with a lot of animosity between both sides leading up to the game. This was a great lesson for me, and I realize how poor my judgment was with those comments.
I got carried away and vow to do whatever is necessary to improve the situation and show my repentance. If there is any way to get the message across more directly to the Chester community, I'd be happy to do so. Again, I deeply regret what I said--and hope that you accept my apology. Email me if there's anything else you'd like from my end. Again, to the community of Chester, I APOLOGIZE.

I saw ANTM and I really am sick of Gina with her scary, whiney behind and CU when she told Danielle she was going to following her to the shower. I was surprised she wasn't kicked off last night. I have to admit Jade bought it last night and was LMAO at all of them trying to walk in those tall ugly shoes. I flipped back and forth between ANTM and Black/White and caught the part where they were in Leimert Park which is located on the Shaw "Crenshaw". The Pank father just doesn't get it and isn't trying so I have dismissed him and the Pank Mother is now see what Blacks go through when we are in parts of their world. Stormy Ms. Jay has that Model walk down. I like Ms. Jay he/she cracks me up with those facial expressions.

Comment: ST. LOUIS -- A St. Louis radio station quickly fired a talk show host for uttering a racial epithet as he talked about Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on his morning show Wednesday.
Dave Lenihan apologized on the air immediately after making what he said was a slip of the tongue. Tim Dorsey, KTRS' president and general manager, agreed the remark was accidental but said it was nonetheless "unacceptable, reprehensible and unforgivable."
Lenihan had been heaping praise on Rice, who has frequently said she aspires to run the NFL one day but has more recently ruled out seeking to replace retiring Commissioner Paul Tagliabue.
"She's been chancellor of Stanford," Lenihan said on the air. "She's got the patent resume of somebody that has serious skill. She loves football. She's African-American, which would kind of be a big coon. A big coon. Oh my God. I am totally, totally, totally, totally, totally sorry for that."
He said he had meant to say "coup" instead of the racial slur.
KTRS listeners began calling the station to complain. Twenty minutes after the utterance, Dorsey went on the air to apologize to Rice and KTRS listeners.
"There can be no excuse for what was said," Dorsey said. "Dave Lenihan has been let go."
NAACP chapter President Harold Crumpton commended Dorsey for his swift action.
Reached at home, Lenihan said he never uses the slur he uttered and thinks Rice is "a fantastic woman."
Lenihan had been at KTRS for less than two weeks. "It was my dream job," he said.

I talked with my sister today and she told me that she felt so disgusted. I asked her why. She said she had just left my nephew's school and found out through the Teacher's Asst, that a number of Kindergarden Children were not graduating to the next grade because they had not done in projects or homework assignments. My sister and I could not comprehend why these parents were not working with their children on homework assignments??? This really irritates me. The parents know that their children will not pass but they don't care. You are teaching your child at a very young age that you don't have to apply yourself in school and that education is not important. Are they any teachers on the board? Do you see this type of thing often among black children?

WASHINGTON -- More than 800,000 pieces of children's jewelry are being recalled by two companies because of the danger of lead poisoning that killed one child, the government said Thursday.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 300,000 silver-colored, heart-shaped charm bracelets were recalled by Reebok International Ltd., a unit of Germany's Adidas-Salomen AG, after a 4-year-old child swallowed one of the bracelets and died of lead poisoning.
"I want to assure all of our consumers and our retailers that I will do everything in my power to ensure that no other family, no other child, suffers a similar tragedy," Reebok President Paul Harrington said in a statement.
The 8-inch-long metal bracelets and charms have the name "Reebok" engraved on the side of the charm. The bracelet was provided as a free gift with the purchase of various styles of children's footwear at major shoe stores nationwide from May 2004 through March 2006.
In a separate action Thursday, the CPSC said about 580,000 necklace and ring sets, imported by Dollar Tree Distribution Inc., are being recalled for a lead poisoning danger.
The silver-colored, adjustable rings come in a variety of designs with a toy "gem" in the center. The necklaces have a black string with silver-colored clasps and a silver-colored charm with a "gem" in the center.
The packages are printed with "Mood Necklace," Mood Ring," "Glow in the Dark Necklace," "Glow in the Dark Ring," "UV Necklace" or "UV Ring." The "UV" jewelry packaging reads, "The Sun's Energy Will Change The Color." Printed on the back of the packaging is "SKU 815485" and the name "Mannix."
The jewelry was sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bills, Dollar Express, Greenbacks, Only $1 and Super Dollar Tree stores nationwide from September 2003 through February 2006.
Consumers owning either the Reebok or Dollar Tree jewelry should take it from children immediately, the CPSC said.

I am so pizzed off right now. The morning started off so well. I woke up, did my mornin thing then went outside to deal with my garbage...(We jes did the basement and the amount of garbage i gathered is ridiculous!) Today I decided to put out 9 bags. I made sure to place the correct amount in each bag (last time they left some bags 'cause it was 2 heavy..the nerve!)So I was happily sipping my ginger tea when the LANDSCAPERS ARRIVED..AT 7:45am. Er...hello...isn't it too early in the morning ane way too cold for them to be here? Can't stand companies that make business decisions instead of sensible decisions. I mean we ain't got no grass to cut!!!! As if I don't have enuf bills!!!

A Kansas man was arrested at a Tulsa strip club after police say his toddler son wandered from an unlocked car into the club over the weekend.
Christopher Greg Killion, 31, was arrested Saturday on a complaint of "encouraging a minor child to be in need of supervision." He posted $500 bond and was released from the Tulsa Jail.
The toddler told police that his father told him to stay in the car, and that if he left it, "monsters would eat him," reports indicate.
A manager at the club had called police to report that about 30 minutes after Killion entered the club, a 3- to 4-year-old boy came inside looking for his father.
Officers determined that the boy had been left alone in a car in the strip club's parking lot. The car was unlocked and parked about 20 feet from a four-lane street. It was raining and 45 degrees outside at the time, an officer noted in the police report.

Comment: Isaac Hayes showed up on Wednesday's 10th season premiere of South Park after all, with the voicetrack for his character Chef %*$embled from the soul singer's past episodes.
That is not to say that a truce has been reached between Hayes, who left the Comedy Central show last week as he criticized South Park 's "religious intolerance and bigotry," and the show's creators and writers, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
Hayes, a devout Scientologist, was said to be upset by the recent satire of the religion on the show, though Stone and Parker rebutted that their star had no trouble appearing on 10 years' worth of episodes that poked fun of other beliefs.
In Wednesday's episode "The Return of Chef," the character is brainwashed by a cult called the "Super Adventure Club" – which converts its followers into child molesters.
The good kids of South Park try to break Chef of his new ways, telling him the club has "filled his head with lies," but he decides to returns to the fold of the Super Adventure Club. As he heads back to the club though, Chef dies after he falls off a bridge onto rocks, is burned, impaled and mauled by a mountain lion and a grizzly bear.
"A lot of us don't agree with the choices the Chef has made in the last few days," character Kyle says in his eulogy at Chef's funeral. "Some of us feel hurt and confused that he seemed to turn his back on us. But we can't let the events of the past few weeks take away the memories of how Chef made us smile. … We shouldn't be mad at Chef for leaving us. We should be mad at that fruity little club for scrambling his brains."

Morris Brown students want trustees ousted. By ANDREA JONES The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 03/23/06. A group of disgruntled students at beleaguered Morris Brown College is seeking the ouster of the school's board of trustees and asking for $52 million in restitution, saying board members have made a "series of financial missteps" that have rendered the school "helpless against a crushing wall of incompetence."The students, represented by Alexander Hamilton, a Morris Brown alum and Virginia-based lawyer, sent a demand letter this week giving the board 15 days to step down or face a class action lawsuit."I don't think the school has given the full picture of how bad things are right now — how severe the problems are," Hamilton said. "This is a fight for survival."
Getchel Caldwell, Morris Brown's acting president, said Wednesday that the school was aware of the demand letter and that it had been forwarded to the college's lawyer."We can't validate or speak to the merits of the claims," he said. "We have sent it to our counsel to review." Morris Brown, which has an enrollment of just 44 students, lost its accreditation in 2003 and has continued to operate as a scaled-down version of its former self. Students are no longer eligible for state or federal aid and the college is still deeply in debt. Bonds on more than $50 million in campus property recently were sold to a Baltimore investment company. Trustees and alumni attended a fund-raising meeting earlier this month to try to figure out how to raise the more than $3 million the school will need to buy back the liens. That amount comes due in April, the same month that Dolores Cross, Morris Brown's former president, and Parvesh Singh, the school's former financial aid director, will go on trial for federal fraud charges. President Samuel Jolley abruptly resigned in January. Hamilton said alumni are worried the private investor will call in the bond and foreclose on the school's property.
"This is a plea," Hamilton said of the demand letter. "It's a last gasp for an institution held captive for years by the incompetence of the board."
Three students — Student Government Association president Alasa Hawkins; Ryan Washington; and past SGA president Mike Izanady — signed the letter. The college offers three degree programs, school officials said.
Nine faculty members and 48 staff members are employed. At its height, Morris Brown, which was founded in 1881, had more than 2,700 students and 108 faculty members.

Comment: My daughter came home with bad grades when she was in the 8th grade. The school provided them with assignment books and I told her to bring it to me. This hiefa had what she wore everyday written in there instead of homework assignments. I got her azz good. I EMPTIED her room. I left her with 5 pair of dingy jeans. 5 faded shirts. One pair of ran over tennis shoes and a too little coat. Took all her cd's, dvd's, fingernail polish, jewelry, hair products, body wash, perfumes, ALL her shat!! Put everything in the garage. When I FINALLY let her have her stuff back, we were still finding stuff in the garage a month later. LOL!!

A toy rabbit, pastel-colored eggs and a sign with the words "Happy Easter" were removed from the lobby of the City Council offices, because of concerns they might offend non-Christians.
A council secretary had put up the decorations. They were not bought with city money.
St. Paul's human rights director, Tyrone Terrill, asked that the decorations be removed, saying they could be offensive to non-Christians.
But City Council member Dave Thune says removing the decorations went too far, and he wonders why they can't celebrate spring with "bunnies and fake grass."

REAL MEN - good men - take responsibility for the children they father. If they get a woman pregnant, they do the right thing: They stand by her. They support their child. They don't try to weasel out of a situation they co-authored. They shoulder the obligations of fatherhood, even if they hadn't planned on becoming a father. Once upon a time, men confronted with news of an unintended pregnancy knew what was expected of them. Often they married the woman who was carrying their child; for those tempted to behave irresponsibly, society devised the shotgun wedding. Women, too, knew what was expected of them. They tended to be very careful about sex. If they didn't always wait until they were married, they waited for a relationship that seemed to be marriage-bound.

Men didn't have to marry women they impregnated; women didn't have to reserve themselves for men who were committed or whose intentions were honorable. With the devaluation of sex came the devaluation of fatherhood. Men got used to the idea of sex without strings. So did women, many of who also got used to the idea of motherhood without husbands. Government helped, too, mandating welfare benefits for unmarried moms, and child-support checks from "deadbeat dads." With the incentives for marriage weaker than ever, more and more children were born out of wedlock. In 1950, just 4 percent of births were to unmarried mothers. By 1980, the rate was more than 18 percent. It stands today at nearly 36 percent. All this is bad enough. Comes now Matt Dubay with a proposal to make things worse.
A 25-year-old computer programmer in Michigan, Dubay wants to know why it is only women who have "reproductive rights." He is upset about having to pay child support for a baby he never wanted. Not only did his former girlfriend know he didn't want children, says Dubay, she had told him she was infertile. When she got pregnant nonetheless, he asked her to get an abortion or place the baby for adoption. She decided instead to keep her child and secured a court order requiring him to pay $500 a month in support.

It was her choice not to have an abortion, her choice to carry the baby to term, her choice not to have the child adopted. Does Dubay have a point? Of course. Contemporary American society does send very mixed messages about sex and the sexes. For women, the decision to have sex is the first of a series of choices, including the choice to abort a pregnancy - or, if she prefers, to give birth and collect child support from the father. For men, legal choices end with the decision to have sex. If conception takes place, he can be forced to accept the abortion of a baby he wants - or to spend at least the next 18 years turning over a chunk of his income to support a child he didn't want.

Yesterday at the University Of Chicago I had the opportunity to listen to one of our great minds Dr. Cornell West. He spoke on many great topics including the death of Corretta Scott King.
Harry Belafonte was the one who paid for the funeral of Corretta including the only insurance policy that the King's children had on her. Harry Belafonte was invited to the funeral on Thursday and than uninvited on Monday. Why? Because Bush and his administration refused to participate if Harry Belafonte was to appear. Yes, the man who bought and paid for their mother's funeral and made sure that the siblings had a good insurance policy that he also sponsored was told he could not attend Corretta's Funeral. The legacy of the King family was abused by their own children. Bush who cared absolutely nothing about Dr. King or its legacy used the opportunity for his political purposes. Dr. Cornell West definitely was disturbed by this as was everyone who attended forum and is hoping to get some answers from the children of the King family. An apology at this point I don't think would be sufficient. How can they right the wrong that was so embarrassingly done in the face of all Black people who marched to the drum of freedom that the King's so pleasantly lead, can this be fixed? Boy, those damn Kids!

A local radio personality was kicked off the air Wednesday after using a racial
slur when talking about U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Dave Lenihan, who was in his second week as a morning show host on KTRS (550
AM), was fired almost immediately after saying "coon" while describing why Rice
would fit well as commissioner of the National Football League.
"She's been chancellor at Stanford. I mean she's just got the patent resume of
somebody that's got some serious skill," Lenihan said, according to a recording
provided by KTRS. "She loves football. She's African-American, which would kind
of be a big coon. . . ."
"'A big coon?' Oh my god," Lenihan said during the morning broadcast. "I am
totally, totally, totally, totally, totally sorry for that. OK? I didn't mean
that. That was just a slip of the tongue."
The remark prompted an on-air apology 20 minutes later from the station's
president, who said "there are no excuses" for what was said.
"There is no place for anything like that in this world," KTRS chief Tim Dorsey
said. "There is enough hate. And we certainly are not going to fan those
flames."
Dorsey said he decided to fire Lenihan after listening to the broadcast several
times.
"I don't know what is in Mr. Lenihan's mind. I know what I heard," Dorsey said.
"I know it was reprehensible."
A State Department spokesman declined to comment.
Rice's qualifications to lead the NFL have been fodder for talk radio since the
current commissioner, Paul Tagliabue, announced that he is retiring in July.
Rice, who was actually a former provost at Stanford University, is an avid
gridiron fan and follower of the Cleveland Browns. In 2001, she told Glamour
magazine that running the NFL is her "dream job."
But this week, Rice said that the football position "came open at the wrong
time."
Lenihan had been at KTRS a week and a half, Dorsey said, part of an attempt by
the station to recast its programming since it became the new flagship station
of the Cardinals. The team bought half of the station last year, a move that
has led to a personnel switch at the "Big 550." The station fired almost all of
its on-air staff shortly before Christmas.
Lenihan's radio resume is limited to three years at WGNU (920 AM). Before that,
Lenihan says, he lived in Scotland.
Reached at his home Wednesday, Lenihan apologized again, saying he meant to use
the word "coup" instead of "coon."
"I've never, ever really used that word in my life. Maybe psychologically-wise
deep down perhaps, but it's not how I feel," Lenihan said. "It's not how I
raised my kids. It's kind of wrecked my life to be honest."

Chymes with then-WKBQ (106.5 FM), were fired after using a racial slur against a caller. They are back on the St. Louis airwaves.
And last month, minority workers reporting to a job site on Interstate 64 near Caseyville encountered a dead raccoon hanging by a wire around its neck.

The racial slur that got a local radio personality fired has also landed him in
trouble at another job.
Dave Lenihan, who was in his second week as a morning show host on KTRS (550
AM), was fired Wednesday after saying the word “coon” while describing why U.S.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would fit well as commissioner of the
National Football League.
Today, the Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, where Lenihan was an
instructor, said he has been suspended while the school reviews his conduct.
“He is a faculty member and he has been suspended pending an internal
investigation,” school spokesman Thomas Keller said.
Keller said that Lenihan has been with Logan since Sept. 2004, where he teaches
anatomy and neuroanatomy.
According to the school’s Web site, Lenihan has a Ph.D. from the University of
Edinburgh in Scotland and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in
Davenport, Iowa.
Lenihan said that he meant to use the word “coup” when the offensive language
came out instead. He has written Rice an apology letter.
“I think you are a great leader and I hope to one day see you in the White
House – you have my support,” Lenihan wrote. “I hope you can forgive me for
this slip of the tongue.”

The Star Princess was en route from Grand Cayman to Jamaica when the blaze started in a cabin and spread to others nearby, according to a statement from Princess Cruises, which is owned by Miami-based Carnival Corp. The ship was carrying 2,690 passengers and 1,123 crew members. Princess Cruises said it was trying to account for all the passengers. The fire-blackened Star Princess docked in Montego Bay just before noon. No smoke was seen coming from the vessel as rescue personnel boarded. All passengers remained on the ship. The starboard side of the ship, which faced dockside, showed no damage. But about 70 exterior cabins on the other side appeared to be charred. Some passengers milled on the decks, but they were too far away from reporters.
Carnival Corp. Chief Financial Officer Gerald Cahill confirmed the fatality and injuries during a conference call. He said at least two of the injured were suffering from smoke inhalation. The U.S. Coast Guard dispatched investigators and fire engineers to help determine the fire's cause and whether the ship's was seaworthy, Coast Guard Petty Officer James Judge said in Miami. Teams were expected to arrive Thursday afternoon. "Our No. 1 concern right now is safety," Judge said. The Jamaica Tourist Board was arranging for the passengers to stay in Montego Bay hotels, said Nadene Newsome, spokeswoman for the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.
"We haven't found out yet where the fire in the ship started or why it started," Newsome said. Star Princess sailed from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on March 19.

Mrs C. became a drunk again after her first love came back in her life, woo'ed her again then was shown as a fraud. During this time it was revealed that unwed Mrs. C and this guy had a baby which was given up for adoption. Fast forward, it was further revealed that Jill is Mrs. C's daughter. Mrs. C is mad at Jill because she blames Jill for running the above mentioned man away (who I think was the daddy) and becomes an alcoholic again. "I believe they've been forced against their will," said Angela Virginia, wiping away tears.
Her 11-year-old son, Purvis Virginia Parker, and his 12-year-old pal Quadrevion Henning aren't the type to have to just wandered away, their families said. Purvis is a quiet boy who dreams of becoming an artist, and Quadrevion has a stack of honors from his school for good behavior and attendance.
"He wouldn't know anywhere to go. He didn't know anyone outside his rim," said Quadrevion's grandfather, Garry Henning. "That door never opened unless I knew where he was going."
The boys were out playing Sunday afternoon when he last saw them.
When they didn't return home that evening, their families called police.
Dozens of officers spread out across the northwest Milwaukee neighborhood Wednesday in an escalating search, knocking on doors and searching vacant buildings, wooded areas and even the sewers for any sign of the youngsters.
Police Chief Nanette Hegerty said Wednesday's search turned up no substantial leads, and officers have said the lack of tips has been unusual.
"The longer they're missing, the more concern there is," Hegerty said.
She said there was no apparent link to another missing child case about three miles away. Seven-year-old Alexis Patterson hasn't been seen since she disappeared the morning of May 3, 2002, after her stepfather walked her to school.
Fliers with the Purvis and Quadrevion's pictures cover windows and cars in the boys' neighborhood, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has posted their photos online.
The $5,000 reward announced Wednesday was established by a local company, Dawes Rigging and Crane Rental, for information leading to the boys' safe return.
Someone must have seen something, said Latrice Kazee, 33, Purvis' godmother.
"They're not talking, and I don't know why 'cause this is no game," she said.

I think this will all come out because the show (i read) is trying to get Malcolm to appear on a few episodes. High School Student Arrested For Oakley Murder
OAKLEY, Calif. (KCBS) -- A 17-year-old Deer Valley High School student has been arrested on charges that he murdered a fellow classmate found dead in her Oakley home last night. The girl's mother came home to around 6:00 p.m. last night to find her house ransacked. Her 14-year-old daughter lying dead in the hallway. Authorities suspect the attack on the Deer Valley High School freshman may have occurred just 45 minutes before the mother arrived. Oakley police arrested the young man at 11:30 Wednesday night. "We developed information with the assistance of the family that led us to some folks that we needed to talk to," police chief Chris Thorsen told KCBS reporter Holly Quan. Police said the suspect and the victim knew each other, but would not provide more information about their relationship or a possible motive. Neighbors said the house in the 2200 block of El Lago Dr. had been broken into several weeks ago, a crime unheard of in the10-year-old subdivision. Oakley's last homicide was recorded in 2002. An autopsy on Brown has been scheduled for later today.
The story fails to mention that the child was brutally raped and that the mother found her naked with her head split open.

Comment: KABUL, Afghanistan - Senior Muslim clerics said Thursday that an Afghan man on trial for converting from Islam to Christianity should be killed regardless of whether a court decides to free him.
Abdul Rahman, a 41-year-old former medical aid worker, faces the death penalty for becoming a Christian under Afghanistan's Islamic laws.
His trial, which began last week, has caused an international outcry. U.S. President Bush said Wednesday he was "deeply troubled" by the case and expects the country to "honor the universal principle of freedom."
Diplomats say the Afghan government is searching for a way to drop the case, and on Wednesday authorities said Rahman is suspected of being mentally ill and would undergo psychological examinations to see whether he is fit to stand trial.
But four senior clerics interviewed by The Associated Press in their mosques in Kabul said Rahman deserved to be killed for his conversion.
"He is not crazy. He went in front of the media and confessed to being a Christian," said Hamidullah, chief cleric at Haji Yacob Mosque.
"The government is scared of the international community. But the people will kill him if he is freed."

Raoulf is considered a moderate cleric in Afghanistan. He was jailed three times for criticizing the Taliban's policies before the hardline regime was ousted by U.S.-led forces in 2001.

The long battle over the hip-hop magazine The Source may finally be over.
The state Supreme Court ruled yesterday in favor of the magazine’s investor, Black Enterprise/Greenwich Street Corporate Growth Partners, which last month took control of the magazine from its founder David Mays and its president, Ray “Benzino” Scott.
The Source has had problems with both circulation and advertising in recent years. Mr. Mays began losing his grip on the magazine after defaulting on an $18 million loan from Textron Financial Corp. last year.
