Comment: Patti DOES NOT like to start late at night. I have seen her come in second or 3rd in a fest where she was obviously the top act. She always requests it. I guess maybe b/c she is getting old, but also b/c she can get tired. She has only started late in a few shows in the last 12 years that I know of.
Where are all the patti fans. Weigh in

Comment: Lawdy @ Rivera Beach done started the "finger pointing" already.X, you are correct in that Patti doesn't like a late start. Alot of things are factored in, diabetes, the change in climate, the lateness of the hour. But to have a workshop and spend more monet to determine the factors of "what could have been", that's BS. as for Patti, as always, Loves me some Patti. Get your rest and whatever else you need, because we want you to feel better, and no apolgies ( even though she did, that shows a truly classy lady she is) your fan based is sealed on cement.

Comment: I can remember the last time I saw Miles Davis -- it was the JVC Jazz festival in New York. There were two shows that night and he appeared with Kenny G. I went to the late show and guess who opened first -- MILES DAVIS. If you wanted to see Keeny G you stayed until 1:00am but Miles was going home. Obviously they were more concerned with keeping people there than making sure Patti Labelle could perform at her best. I also recently saw Roberta Flack at the Apollo. She looks fantastic and has an incredible band of young talented musicians. Within her two hour set she sang no more of six of her songs (and I think it might have been a little less than 6 but I'm giving her the benefit) Point here -- eventually Roberta mentioned her new project -- introducing new artists, although it was very obvious when they performed three Marvin Gaye songs. Having gone to that show, I fully understand why she does not perform that much anymore. Can she still perform -- absolutely. Did I want to hear all the Roberta Flack gems? Absolutely!Does she want to perform only her songs -- absolutely not.... Patti Labelle is a tremendous talent however at her age she can not sing her signature songs at the level she did five years ago, or even two years ago. The whole debacle was not her fault entirely however she should use this incident to re-group and rework her show (and contracts) to perform in a manner that works well for her -- maybe even change the arrangements.

Comment: Why da fock do you need a workshop to pinpoint where you planned poorly? *sucking teeth*

Comment: Priceless, I was just about to write the same thing... a workshop -- WTF?!? This is the result of poor planning and scheduling. All they need to do is make sure this doesn't happen again next year by either shortening the lineup or making sure that artists like Patti Labelle do not come on so late.

Comment: Patti LaBelle deserves an apology but a workshop to discuss what happened when they know what happened is a waste of taxpayers dollars. They can't rewrite history but they can prevent this from happening in the future. When planning next year's event they need to learn from this and schedule their artist better.

Comment: Teigh, I have seen Patti perform many times, and she gives 100 percent. I don't think she needs to change her arrangements she can still blow. The problem here was they needed to let her start at a normal hour with decent weather. Singing in the cold is not good especially for someone her age and a diabetic.
