Comment: All I could think about was Samuel Jackson's character, Gator, in that Spike Lee movie. The picture of that bathroom turns my stomach. No one can help her, even family, unless she wants to help herself. That's the first step to admitting your addiction and that you need help. Any certified alcohol or substance abuse counselor will tell you that. She's been taken by family to treatment centers kicking and screaming and that's why it has failed.

Comment: TO pray that Whitney will one day hit rock bottom and decide to enter rehab and change her life around. Now, as for Tina Brown, I wonder how much she was paid for giving the interview and taking the pics. It's a crying shame that she felt like she had to put ALL Whitney's business on Front Street. Because I don't see how publishing this mess can make her magically wake up and decide to change. If Whitney is in denial about her drug habit, seeing this article will possibly infuriate Whitney and get Tina cussed out.

Comment: This is beyond sad. This is more than tragic. You can't put what is going on w/Whitney into words. As much as I want to try and believe that there is still hope for her, I don't know anymore. She obviously doesn't want help. When she has been to rehab, she leaves early and comes out acting worse. I noticed he trying to get back into the singing game (he did a video with Bob Marley's son). this is really, really scary. i'm very scared for whitney right now because this stuff kills and destroys lives and it won't stop till it's finished with you.

Comment: This is such a sad story. I never would have thought it had gotten this bad. I read this article yesterday on Sister 2 Sister website. I can only imagine how their family is feeling right now, being I have a family member with the same problem. The thing is, no matter how many times they go to rehab it not going to do any good until they make up in their mind they want to do better for themselves. You can talk to them until you are red in the face but they (addicts) will not budge. It's just a sad case. Hopefully, Whitney as well as others that are hooked on drugs will get their lives together. I pray for all of them.

Comment: I would like to think that this story is false. Whitney is also known for having her family members plant stories so they can get paid. What would be the point since Whitney has millions of dollars? Maybe she's not as rich as we think or maybe she doesn't want to give her family members money herself, but still that makes no sense. The picture of her is quite sad and how sad is it that Bobbie Kristina has to go to school with rumors of her mother being on crack! Comment: I don't know that the fact that the story is published in the Enquirer necessarily means it's untrue. HOWever, I would like just ONE "concerned" family member to go to either a conventional news source when 'reporting' on the acts of a more famous family member. Just ONCE. The story may very well be true, but the fact that's it's in a publication that is so tied to gossip and nonsense makes the family "reporter" look very shady and suspect.... ala Carey Kelly.

Comment: People do go to extreme measures to help out a family member!..If this is Tina's way, more power to her..Everyone else in Whit's camp are enablers..How did she get to this point?..Whitney was a chain weed smoker long before she met Bobby..Her household growing up contained two crack head brothers....The National Enquirer may add their own twist to certain sh*t, but most stories have a lot of truth to them!...I'll continue to that pray she gets it together..I would hate to sit and watch her funeral live on MSNBC.

Additionally if that whole family has participated in interventions for Whitney several times, who is to say that putting the story in the Enquirer won't be the thing to get her into rehab?! Lastly, because I know you saw their reality show and I know you know she's still using it is just too possible that the sister in law is indeed telling the truth. Comment: Can you imagine being filthy rich and able to buy the best drugs money can buy? That is Whitney's plight she has access to large amounts of cash so she could smoke 24/7. Most poor people have to smoke until the money runs out but this woman has a lot of bucks that she can get the best so that means her fight to get away from it will be harder because she is using the best money can buy. Comment: R.Kelly brother puts out a DVD about R.Kelly and he's automatically labeled a money hungry traitor who should have went to the police, but Whitney's sister-in-law goes to the Enquire and most thinks she trying to help!?! I'm with Don Juan, to a point, although I do believe Whitney is still using and possibly to this extent, I see Tina trying to capitalize off of Whitney's pain. Comment: i don't think anyone has any doubt (if the story is true or false) that tina brown did this for financial gain. all we can do is comment on the story provided. who knows who's bathroom that is. i do believe that whitney is using even more now than before. and if so instead of planting stories in the paper the family needs to try and get Bobbi Kris out of there and get Whitney some serious help. i'm talking about the type where she's going to need a straight jacket or something to help. i feel bobby for wanting to get his career back on trach and touring w/NE, but....he needs to take care of home first. if it's really this bad.

If anything, it will make her want to smoke more and blame it on the demons (more self-inflicted punches). Bobby sister did this interview to help herself. Comment: Coneyi, I hear ya, but someone needs to bring some money home. Yes, Whitney is worth millions, but she's apparently smoking up all the money and hasn't really done anything as of late to make any. She held Bobby up all those years, so maybe he feels like he needs to hold her up now. Besides, him being at home with her isn't going to make her stop. Bobby needs to make sure that the REST of the family is taken care of and that the finances are in order. HE may have to do what Mrs. Cole did for Natalie, and take some kind of legal action to restrict her from funds. And even though the Enquirer is a rag and I never buy it, 7 times out of 10 they print the truth. I remember when they broke the story about Eric Benet cheating on Halle, and no one wanted to believe it, myself included. Months later, what happened? Halle confirmed everything that was printed in that article. I'm sure Tina Brown knew she could get paid more for going to them versus CNN or E!, but I also think she is genuinely concerned. Someone said it before; when you have all your business put out there for people to see, including law officials that may open an investigation and possibly take your children, that's rock bottom and that's when she has to make a life or death decision.

Comment: Hey DonJuan, I don't know if this Story is credible but Whitney has been in rehab before, her voice is failing, we saw her life played out on that Bobby Brown show and a few of us have experienced the detruction of family members from crack and Whitney is showing signs that she has a problem. I think the sister in law was wrong as he11 and needs money and is probably still on crack and that part is a joke but Whitney does have drug issues I am sure and it not from Weed.

Comment: Like BigChassie, I too was married to a crack addict who became one 10 years into our marriage and I tried everything to help him even tough love that people spoke of. In order to allow my children to grow up without seeing there Dad go down the drain, I had to Woman up and leave the marriage. He went through 4 rehabs before he pulled himself together and missed out on all of his 30ies and the children growing up to become productive adults. He is now drug free Thank God and our Children still love and respect Daddy.

Comment: We always see Bobby in court about child support. We always hear reports about Whitney's family trying to get her into rehab. Why don't we hear any stories about the family trying to get Whitney's daughter out of her custody? If what Tina says is even remotely true, the family members (whoever is not on crack) should be doing everything to save Bobbie Christina from that madness. Where's child protective services? Where is Cissy and company coming to Bobbie Christina's rescue? It's disturbing that everyone is willing to sacrifice the child's well being so that we hope we can rekindle our fond memories of Whitney. If what some of the earlier commenters said is true, "That the addict must make the first step", then the "disease" is actually more along the lines of a choice than a true disease that you cannot control no matter how much you decide to fight it (i.e. - cancer, sickle cell, multiple sclerosis). Bobbie Christina, however, cannot make such choices. she is at the mercy of those who claim to love her. Save the child.

As much as I'm convinced that Whitney is cracked out and needs help, keep in mind that this article is in the National Inquirer people. I'm not buying all these alleged sordid details unless I see it reported by a reputable source. Also, what is up with siblings giving up nasty info on each other these days? I know it's a sibling-in-law in this case, but still... Going public like this is not going to make Whitney get help. It just adds fuel to the fire and gets 15 minutes for you. But if all of this mess is true it is really sad that and adult in 2006 can fall victim to something that has been apart of human awareness for such a long time. The dangers of it and the way Tina said she smoked it makes it really truthful because of the deceit involved. The only way you can tell she is on crack is from that nasty eerie smell it leaves while mixed with marijuana and ya'll know she got the good weed and crack jesus. I just dont understand. But I do know someone I used to work with he was making $80k plus a year and a saw him on crack and we spoke and he told me that he was off it for a couple of years and he just started back, He said the feeling was euphoric, he said it was a high like no other. To me this is a government issue just like Aids. The gov't needs to step in and do something about this.

Comment: Y'all criticizing EUR about posting stories a day or 2 later should realize that EUR posts whatever is available on the wire services before their internet publishing deadline. Most other internet news outlets continually update their sites throughout the day. So if someone posts a story on the free for all and EUR has it as a story the next day, it simply means EUR got wind of a story after that days' edition was put up, hence why it may show up a day later. The only time I've seen EUR post midday is when there's some late breaking news. Crackhead Whitney is not late breaking news. :)

Troubled pop superstar Whitney Houston — once a bigger seller than Madonna — is running out of cash. Insiders tell me she is literally broke, with no current income and huge expenses. Not only that: Whitney’s life is such a dismal mess that, according to sources, her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, is living with Whitney’s brother Gary and sister-in-law, Pat, close to Houston’s home in Atlanta.
And it just keeps getting worse: A local Atlanta lawyer told me yesterday that he recently had housemates Whitney and ‘80s pop star Cherelle (real name Cheryl Week Norton) evicted from the luxury townhouse he’d rented to the latter last fall. Houston’s name was not on the lease, but the landlord says she was living there and has witnesses to back him up.
Now the landlord says he’s about to sue both women for about $17,000 in back rent and about $8,000 in damages for the mess they left behind. That includes carpets and furniture ruined by burn marks and broken windows. The papers will be filed shortly, he tells me.
When the landlord went to speak to Houston about the noise and filth emanating from the townhouse, he told me the singer appeared “disheveled” and her voice was gravelly. On the plus side: “She was very pleasant.”
Houston still owns a beautiful home in suburban Atlanta, but moved in with Cherelle at least temporarily for an extended party last fall. Houston and Norton, according to my sources, abandoned the befouled townhouse and moved to the Atlanta neighborhood of Buckhead. She has since returned to her Alpharetta home, where husband Bobby Brown has also alighted after having last been seen partying in Los Angeles. There, Brown told friends alternately that Houston was pregnant and that they were divorcing.
Sometimes -- let’s face it -- we have fun tweaking the stars. But that’s not the case with Whitney Houston. I’ve known her well since 1989. She was once a beautiful girl with the greatest voice in the world and an unlimited future. What’s happened to her in the last few years is the worst kind of show business tragedy. Friends of hers tell me they fear for her life. This is a monumental disaster for which no one wants to take responsibility.

Comment: The original Mendham home, records show, was bought in 1987 for $2.2 million; Houston borrowed $1.4 million to pay for it. In 1998, as part of a refinancing plan, she took a $6.45 million mortgage that involved buying a second home in Mendham around the corner from the first. It also appears that she bought a condominium in North Bergen, N.J., simultaneously with a $3.4 million mortgage.
In May 2003, Houston obtained a $2 million, 15-year mortgage against the Mendham house. At the same time, records show she also took out a second equity loan against the same property for $500,000. Three months later, there’s a new $700,000 mortgage for a different property.
Houston’s financial problems are simple, and they were easy to predict. She is a singer, not a songwriter. Unlike Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Madonna, Houston does not write her own material. Or, to be more exact, she never attached her name to her hits and took a cut of the publishing. She has only five song credits on ASCAP’s Web site.

Comment: This is rare among modern singers: Almost all of them including Barbra Streisand, were smart enough to write some hits of their own. And if they didn’t, like Bette Midler and Cher, they made their stage show a central source of income. One reason Mariah Carey has not had to tour extensively is that she has her name on dozens of hits.
It’s kind of surprising that Houston fell into this trap. She’s watched both her mother, Cissy Houston, and cousin, Dionne Warwick, neither of whom wrote their own hits, tour endlessly every year and work to keep up with their expenses. You’d think she would have learned something from their experiences.
What’s evident is that through the years, Houston has had inadequate advice and counsel. Depending on just record sales to get her through bad times was a mistake. While Houston had many bestsellers, they are well in the past. Simply singing a hit record is not enough if you’re not going to save your money. The real profit in the music business comes from touring and publishing. Houston has toured very little in her career. And with no songs on her resume, she has no perennial moneymakers on which to rely, like Carey’s “Vision of Love” or Madonna’s “Like A Virgin.”
So Whitney, with dozens of dependents and no income, is indeed broke. News reports claimed she got a $100 million recording contract from Arista Records in 2001. In reality, she received a $20 million advance. Take half off from taxes, it’s $10 million. Another $2 million might come off in fees. Then deduct the costs of her 2002 flop album, “Just Whitney” — which sold just 540,000 copies — and her 2004 Christmas album, now ranked on amazon.com at 68,000. Suddenly, it’s not so much.

Comment: And that doesn’t take into account her notorious lifestyle. And I’m not talking about the first class airfare, the nice cars, clothes or jewelry. Houston has frittered away millions of dollars living on the edge and being irresponsible. Had she not entered into a spiraling down world of drug addiction, and kept recording and touring, she would be —at age 42 — a very wealthy woman with a reputation as the best singer of her generation. That none of that has come to pass is shameful.
Houston’s next big problem is going to be with Child Protective Services in Alpharetta, Ga. Even though Bobbi Kristina lives away from home, there will no doubt be a new investigation based on the "Enquirer" story. If 50 percent of the report is deemed true, Houston and Brown could easily lose their daughter for good. One wonders if that will be enough of a wake up call for the singer who once represented the best of America’s youth.

She supported him for many years and took care of him. Now it seems like because he has somewhat restarted his career he's abandoned her and that's not right.

Comment: ricki- i hear you too. but if whitney is gone, then what. money isn't everything. family should always come first. i'm sure they are comfortable enough for a while so he can take time out and help his wife out. she held him down all those years. i don't agree with that. bobby is a grwn man. the drugs and his legal battles are what held him back. he needs to take care of home first.

Comment: It doesn’t help that this week Whitney was sold out by her sister-in- law, Tina Brown (not to be confused with the real Tina Brown, thanks). Tina’s brother is Houston’s often-arrested and imprisoned former pop star husband Bobby. Tina sold the most salacious stories she could muster to "The National Enquirer" and the "UK Sun" tabloid, along with pictures that suggest a horrifying saga of Whitney’s drug abuse. Her take could be as high as $200,000. There has been some suggestion that Brown, needing cash, put her up to it.
Ironies abound: First, Whitney entered rehab one year ago. Obviously, it didn’t work. And second, sources say that Whitney took care of Tina Brown’s children, said to be six in total, while she was in rehab herself. Even at her worst, Houston, friends say, has tried to keep her husband’s relatives happy.
“There are 30 members of the Brown family,” says an insider, “and they’ve all sponged off of Whitney.”
That’s the problem. Generous to a fault, Houston has now managed to spend most of her earnings taking care of her own family and Brown’s. She has two main %*$ets: a five-acre estate in posh Mendham, N.J., %*$essed in 2005, according to public records at $5.6 million. In 2003, she also purchased a large home in Alpharetta, Ga., a for $1.8 million, almost all of which was borrowed.
“There’s no money,” says an insider. “She’s really broke.”

If she truly wanted to help Whit,why not do it behind closed doors; have a heart to heart talk Whitney and Bobby, have a family intervention etc. The picture shown on the EUR above does concern me,though. Comment: Southernbelle, you are absolutely right. If there were no truth to this story, her PR people, managers, record label, hangers on, family, and Whitney herself would be coming out of the woodworks to refute it and threaten lawsuits. Just because a story is in the Enquirer, it doesn't make it false. Lots of the so-called celebrity weeklies are only interested in, um, the paler side of life. And the "serious" news organizations like CNN might feel they are above this kind of story. After all, there is a war going on. It seems that only outlets like the NE and A Current Affair will cover this kind of story, so they get a bad rap, but a lot of what they publish might be true. However, if Whit is as bad as Tina says, this isn't going to embarrass her. All that will happen is Tina won't be invited to the next party at the mansion. And, um, how does putting Whit on blast for using sex toys or wearing a diaper help her fight her drug habit? That was TMI!

They said Bobby Kris, is living with Whitney's brother and sister in law. She needs help. There a grain of truth in anything. Maybe Whitney's not knocking on death's door, but she's doing drugs.

Comment: I also question Tina's motives and whether or not those photos are genuine. That said, it's very clear that Whitney has a serious drug problem and even her auntie Dionne and her mother admit to knowing about it. Even if the story is 100% true, i doubt very seriously that CNN would do a story on Whitney's drug problems. Even some of the other tabloid like shows would shy away from it unless they were in the home to take actual footage from the bathroom and that would not happen because legally Tina cannot take cameras into Whitney's home. I really think money is behind it. $200K will buy a lot of crack. I am praying for her and her family, especially her daughter. I have a cousin who has been trying to get off the pipe for over a decade. He had bright future at one point and has a lot of book sense, but clearly not enough common sense NOT to try some $hit 10 times better than sex. His mother, who is a minister has done everything to help him and even when he's doing well, she says she hears him in his room crying for it because he wants it so bad. It's no joke.

Comment: Whitney and her addiction has become a media joke. We all have recieved emails in which "look how bad Whitney looks" is the topic. We have commented on numerous stories here. Until Whitney cussed Wendy Williams out, she was making an entire career out of dogging crack head Whitney out. The public likes to shake their head at how pitiful she is now but seldom stop to think about how they may have contributed. Can you imagine being married to the man that you love and having everyone in the Black community tell you that he isn't shyt, and that he isn't good enough for you, and that he's a thug, and predicting how long your marriage will last? It is hard to be a crossover star and have two sets of hands grabbing at you. I am not trying to make excuses for Whitney. She's a privilaged byatch with an uppity attitude, a sharp tongue and a focked up understanding. A lot of Whitney's ills are self-inflicted. However, Whitney is no worse than Robert Downey Jr. She is no more an addict than was he, however, she is treated differently. She is laughed at and joked about whereas Robert Downey Jr. was repeatedly forced into rehab until he got clean. It is time for a federal judge to step in and mandate that Whitney go to rehab and not come out until she is cleared by the staff of that facility and clean. The alternative is death!

Comment: Couple problems with Chakatee's article post. Celine Dion does NOT write her own songs, never has. But she's set for life with her Vegas gig. Also, anyone who watched Being Bobby Brown knows that Whitney is not even close to being generous to a fault.
I also agree that no real reaction to the story from anyone in Whitney Houston's camp is a SCARY sign that this Tina Brown story is most probably true.
