Comment: Triple that "amen." Timely and so needed. Hope this message reaches the people who really need to read it.

Comment: >tsktsk: Right. INCLUDING the members of his own conservative party who find no shame in pimping God for their own agenda as well.

Comment: The sad fact is - as much as I agree that the minister should not be pulling up in a BMW745i (because to me it ruins his credibility), at the same time I've been so brainwashed over the years that if he pulled up in an '85 Accord, I'd look at him kinda funny...

Comment: Excellent article. Papasmurf jokes but it's so true, we have become so conditioned and brainwashed that we believe that preachers are suppose to live "better than us". They have us believing that we are not living within God whelm if we are living in lack or not experiencing the finer things in life. It so sad where the church is going. Jesus was a missionary, a poor one at that, but very few churches do anything for the poor communities outside their massive doors.

Comment: Yeah I know the Church across the street from me just bought a new van and electronic message board. I also know that the pators wife wasn't happy with the Parsonage and the church rented a knew house for them with a pool. And the pastor didn't to want to drive his own car to other churches so they bought him an SUV. What any of that has to do with God message is a mystery to me.

Comment: A couple of years ago WWJD - What Would Jesus Do? was a popular expression. If you attend a church where the pastor wears $3,000 suits and lives in a million dollar home and drives a $100,000 car (or has a private airplane), ask yourself, if Jesus was here in the flesh, would He do those kinds of things? Despite how the pimps (oops, preachers) try to distort the word and convince you that God wants them to be prosperous, ask yourself that question. I think you already know the answer.

Comment: PS: I realize that none of us is perfect, I know that I certainly am not. But I'm not bettering myself financially by calling myself a man of God and taking advantage of those who follow me. And I sincerely hope that there is an express lane to Hell for those who do.

Comment: Yes the pastor should have a vehicle that can get him where he needs to be. Yes he should have a home that he is proud to raise his family in. Should it all be at my expense just because his "showing" of prosperity makes those needs multi million purchases. Uhhh... NO! I've seen my pastor come from a hoopty to a nice SUV in the course of 12 years. He informed us that the purchase was to carry recording equipment as well as get to his destination. So when we go the van can hold more people and less equipment. That was reasoing I can live with.

Comment: Good one, JP. What that pastor missed is that people won't be drawn to God because of his material possessions, rather by his Godly spirit. Where in the Bible does it say everyone is supposed to be wealthy and live in $$million homes? Our material things do not reflect our character or relationship with God.

Comment: AMEN JCP. I am a member of Reach Out and Touch Deliverance Ministries, in Richmond, VA and there we believe in our name, Reach Out. The ministry is not in the church, it's outside of the church. It's about giving, and reaching out to the community you are in.
