Comment: I think everyone should leave Whitney along, including the media. How many more stories do we have to hear about another celebrity voicing their concern about Whitney. Everytime a radio station plays a Whitney song we always have to hear from the DJ after the song how they hope Whitney gets well. Please, enough already. Whitney is doing Whitney. She has to get over this bump in the road. My only concern at this point is what Bobbi Kristina might be feeling/thinking. She is only a child, but a child perhaps shamed by her mother's antics.
Gosh, I am tearing up thinking about Bobbi K. It isn't fair.
But, I am optimistic and suspicious of these random reports.
Black folks UNITE and fight to rid our communities of drugs and the dealers that push them. Hey, that's a start, I guess.

Whitney will have to admit to herself that she has a problem, you can talk until you are blue in the face, if she doesn't take the time to realize she is killing herself, as well as her daughter's emotional, mental, & physical being, nothing can be done.

A friend of Whitney's reached out to her by writing a letter voicing her concern about her friends waning health and drug addiction and some folks are upset about that? MsVanese, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm certain when it comes to any addiction, the impaired individual has got to WANT help, but if that individual is so far gone past the point of no return, maybe someone needs to intervene to pull them back from the abyss. As a friend, its actually their solemn duty to step in and at least TRY! If something fatally happens to Whitney, alot of folks will be saying "why didn't anyone say anything? Why didn't anyone attempt to step in and save this woman's life? Why didn't anyone offer some kind of aid?" Someone above mentioned something about the ladies minding their own business when it came to Whitney's addiction. How can we perpetuate that mentality when Mary and Beyonce see first hand that one of their own is literally killing herself? Especially Mary who's had bouts of drug addiction in her past. If anyone knows firsthand what demons Whitney is fighting, it's Mary J. Blige. Like Betty Wright says in her song "PAIN"; that when you're already down on the ground, you can't pick up nothing but dirt, at least wait until you get up on your feet so you could reach for a star... maybe, just maybe she needs a helping hand. nightshift mentioned that "where there's smoke there's fire." Well, Whitney's situation is a raging inferno that is spreading fast. There's a great show on A&E I believe called Intervention. When friends and loved ones attempt to help the addicted individual by telling them how that addiction is affecting their friends and family. Whitney needs this now folks. As with any addicted individual, we must step in. Heck, we HAVE to. It would be the wrong message to simply "leave Whitney alone."

Comment: I agree with much that Luke__Cage says. If you knew someone was intoxicated and impaired and you were with them, would you tell everybody "leave him/her alone, it's not our business. Whitney is in a state of mind where she can't trust her own judgement and since MJB has been there and kicked it I think that she is a voice of experience and maybe if Whitney can see that she kicked it then maybe she can too. I really think we're being callous about Beyonce wanting to making it "all about her" why should she have to do that especially since she has money and a successful, growing career, not logical to me.

I think everyone knows the Addict has to want to stop, but friends can still voice their concern and offer help. Just one person might get through to her. Short of having her declared incompetent, NOBODY can help Whitney but Whitney. She needs to leave the environment that she is in and find a place that makes her not want to use. Obviously there is a problem that she is running from or something she is looking for in the drugs; comfort, love, etc. Addiction is no joke. I will continue to pray for her & her family.

While Bee's heart is in the right place, I doubt very seriously if it's going to have any impact on Whitney. No one else has gotten through her fried brain so far. She kicked her best friend Robin to the curb, and instantly gave Angela Bas-sett the cold shoulder when she told Whitney of her concerns. She never made peace with her father before he died, and threatened to take BobbiK out of the country away from her mother's interference. Whitney is a grown woman who has created this whole unfortunate lifestyle for herself (and no, I do NOT blame Bobby for her drug abuse). I also feel that law enforcement is partially to blame. Because of her celebrity status, they never prosecuted her when she was caught with the marijuana at the airport. She has pretty much gotten away with everything she's done so far. Her voice is not good and she's not touring, so she hasn't made any money lately. I'm hearing she's on the verge of losing her home in NJ (not sure how true that is?). Her little bit of money from "I Will Always Love You" is about to run out by now. Yet these events haven't convinced her to get her act together. Maybe she'll get her wake-up call if Bobby takes BobbiK and leave her. Otherwise she's going to wind up like Dorothy Dandridge, Janis Joplin, Judy Garland, and Marilyn Monroe - legends who left too soon.......

Comment: All I can say is that "Crack" is the most serious drug ever invented by man and so many great people have tried it and can't seem to kick the bad bad habit. I just thank God that I was out of trying when that came along but I do have younger neices and nephews and I pray that they don't get hooked on it but no one is strong enough to beat it. So with letters from friends, hopefully she will read them and through one or two she will come to reality before its too late. She will never be that great singer but she can help others. All we can do at this point is pray for her that one day soon she will see the light....
PS Some of you are so negative about other people...its almost like you love seeing that happen to a person which is so wrong...

Comment: I have a relative that has been on crack for the past 20 years. In and out of the best rehab centers (one had a recidivism rate of less than 8%). He gets off that shyt for a minute and than back on. It has been a roller coaster ride for more than 20 years now. Everyday I expect to receive a phone call informing us he is dead. We have tried everything. I have thought about relocating him to somewhere in America where crack is hard to get. But if there is a crack house within 200 miles, he will find it.

If they didn't speak up, everyone would be like where was MJB, where was Beyonce when Whitney was strung out? Same old negativity. If you remember in Being Bobby Brown Whitney had on a tshirt when she went to see Bobby at the hotel and he asked her where she got that shirt from and she said I went to see "the girls" i.e., Destiny's Child on their world tour last summer while they were in Atlanta which is where their new DVD just released was taped. She was with Destiny's Child and hung out with them in ATL. I know this for a fact. SO the fact that B would reach out to Whit is no surprise because she is one of her role models and they are tight like that. No B does not hang out with Whit like Cherelle and do drugs and shoot the shyt but these ladies are in the same industry and are friends and respect and love each other a great deal. Most of us have never been exposed to seeing a "Crack Den" before and those pics would hurt anybody to see that someone is living that foul. So the fact that these pictures had the impact on Beyonce and MJB is no surprise especially them knowing Whit personally and those of us in the industry who know she has been on drugs for over 20 years. So I wish everyone would just stop with "leave her alone" when you really have a heart and care about someone you can't just stand by and watch them destroy themselves and their families. Cissy and those close are doing what they can but there is no hurt or harm in those with a voice and a presence to reach out too. Why must Beyonce be expected to save every crackhead on the street of Houston? That is ridiculous. She can't save the world. But she can make every effort to help and be there for someone like Whitney. Also for people to say this is a publicity stunt on B's part she does not have to do this for publicity. She is already an international star with films, millions of records sold, and money in the bank let's not be absurd. And she can't hop in a minivan from L.A. when she is wrapping up filming for 'Dreamgirls' which is why she had to write a letter versus go see her or call because she is in the middle of filming.
Lastly everyone is bashing Tina Brown. Yeah I admit talking about the sex toys was a bit much. But had she not shared the picture or told the story many would be none the wiser about how bad Whitney's situation is. I wake up in the morning ever since the story broke fearing they are going to air a report Whitney Houston found dead on an overdose. Something has to be done to salvage this wonderful and tremendous life.

The desire for that narcotic is the main thing they care about in their lives. They have to hit rock damn bottom (no pun intended) before they choose to change their lives. Helping them before that happens is enabling them. Now, that doesn't mean that we aren't hurting for them...that we don't care...we just can't help. If Beyonce is Whitney's friend, I know she's hurting for her and probably has reached out to her. Do I believe the report from this British rag, No!

We all are aware of his reputation and his problems have been public record for some time. He had to have her high for her to come on worldwide TV and proclaim his has-been behind "The King of R&B". Comment: I have to agree with the posters who said this Bey wrote the letter for publicity. Everyone from Tom Cruise to Paris Hilton will say/do just about anything to make headlines because they're competing for publicity. You don't need to have a product (new album, movie, book, etc). Your publicist's job is create ways to keep you in the public's eye so that you're not "forgotten." Even Madonna once said that her biggest fear is to be "forgotten." I'm not trying to single out Beyonce but she won't be the first or the last celeb to write a letter without her publicist sending out a press release about it.

Jess wrote above about it being almost impossible to save drug addicts from this. I have seen it in others (worked at an ER for five years). Crack is, in my opinion, the literal actual Devil. You see people put that shee-ite to their lips and literally watch them become zombies. I've seen men give AIDS to their sons, sharing heroin needles after crack binges; crackhead parents who molested their own three year old daughter and the momma took the daddy back, despite raping his own children; children who have to take scooters six miles, round-trip to school because the parents are smoking up their bus tokens. It truly, truly is tragic. I saw a stillborn baby that had died when it had a heart attack from the mother hitting a crack pipe once too often. I will never forget that image: a child crying and then frozen in that position. I never forgot it and that was ten years ago. I don't know what the solution is but it's not reaching out through the press. Pray for these people, not just Whitney, because it is the ugliest, most heartbreaking insanity you will ever see.

Beyonce may have mentioned that she would like to help Whitney and the paper just embellished the story to sell papers. If Whitney's situation is as bad as they say it is, then we should all keep her and her family in our prayers.
