Comment: Good Morning Lily and congrats on being #1, Happy Monday to everyone. Questions to ponder today: Why is that when the elections in Iraq were taking place, all out of country residents were allowed to vote absentee ballot, but displaced residents of N.O. have to return to Louisiana just so there votes can be counted? Also if the immigrants who did vote in the Iraq elections are now citizens of the US, why are they still voting in Iraq aren't they now considered U.S. citizens? If they are still Iraqi citizens living in the U.S., will they be marching along with the Hispanic immigrants today, or does this new rule plan to be enforced only on Mexican immigrants? Somebody help me out, I am just a little confused.

There was a couple of scenes that were sort over the top (bank loan scene) but all in all, it wasn't bad. I really liked how the African dude talked to her about all that damn cussing

Comment: Bigchassie I saw the "Phat Girlz" movie yesterday, and while I did enjoy it, I thought it could have been a little more, hmmmm. I can't think of the word right now. And Mimi, that bank loan scene was not necessary. That's what I don't like about TV and Movies sometimes, they go "over the top" too much.

Name: bigchassie

It felt good to do something for someone else, since so much was done for me in the recent past, me being a hurricane victim and all. I have their boxes packed and ready to go!! I'm so excited!

Comment: Hold up wait a second, did you all hear about the 911 dispatch operator who didn't help the 5yr old who called in to say his Mom had passed out? The Mom died before help could arrive, they have a recording of the call, and they are talking about the necessary steps will be taken after an investigation takes place. Can you all say BULLSHIT!!! If this were my family I would want her gone and not now, but right now!!!!

Name: LawdHvMrcy
Comment: Hello Kinfolk! ARCH>>> Prayers for you and your family... Loss is very hard to deal with- especially when it involves those who are so young... {RYTAY} Brokeback Mountain was a pretty decent movie. It started out slow, but overall it was good. The only thing I didn't like was the deception the main characters had when it came to dealing with their wives. It added a new meaning to 'DL'. The unfortunate thing was that the clues were there. The wives just chose to ignore them... I hope this helps! How does everyone feel about the little boy who called 9-1-1 in Detroit where they refused to send paramedics because the operator thought the child was playing? The mother died as a result of this.

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Hey Everybody! Sorry to hear about your situation Arch, that's a lot of bad news in a short period of time. RE: the Monique movie, I heard somebody complaining, can't remember who, about how, even though Mo is saying that the big girls should be accepted, in the movie she ends up with a hunk...basically, why can't the big men get any love. I guess the same thing could be said about Queen Latifah's movie with LL.

Name: LawdHvMrcy
Comment: DANG-- I see we ALL got the same thing on our minds this morning! MOISE>> Aren't you a 911 dispatcher? What are your opinions about the situation? Ok yall, I gotta head up out for a second, but yall be good and play nice! YLAWDY>> I think I saw you in church yesterday... em... while I was watching it on TV!

Name: YLawdY
Comment: All right..a question for the church going folk here. Does it count when you watch church on T.V.?

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Re: the 911 call, wasn't the lady dead by the time he called the first time? Anyhoo, I thought the operators were taught to send someone out no matter what. I mean, the caller has to pay for it...not the dispatcher right? Clearly, ambulances are not free which is how a lot of black or poor die in the first dayum place.

Comment: I need help..technical help. For some reason I can't log in to my Yahoo e-mail at home. This just started and I'm very frustrated with trying to find a fix that makes sense. Comment: STOOOOPID! BERLIN (Reuters) - When a German woman found a wallet containing 1,000 euros ($1,220) she decided it was better to get a reward from the owner than to keep the money -- even if that meant resorting to extortion, police said Friday. ADVERTISEMENT "It was a bit stupid. She could just have kept the wallet," said a spokeswoman for police in the southwestern city of Darmstadt. "But she wanted the finder's reward -- and might have got one anyway. But she opted to extort it instead." Police said the 47-year-old found the owner's phone number in the wallet and told the pensioner she could only have it back for 100 euros "plus 20 euros travel costs." The owner agreed to the terms, and tipped off police, who arrested the woman with the wallet at the handover point

Comment: >>Mimi, no I haven't I just recently started to purchase her books. A friend let me read Casting the First Stone and I enjoyed it very much, so when I heard that there were 2 books that followed the same character I had to read it. To be honest the 3rd one kind of strings you along and doesn't end the way you think it should. It left me wanting for things to be a little more neatly tied up. She may be setting the grounds for a 4th book.

Comment: Thanks yunvme. As you probably figured, I put a lot of effort into writing my blogs and including photos. My page again is www.myspace.com/brawnymeir. This week's blog is centered around my return trip from Kenya to Philadelphia. The focus is really on the mixed emotions that I felt leaving The Continent. It's hard to recognize when you have an emotional void and are in need of a friend. Well, I felt alone and was not afraid to admit it. Then I made a friend.

Comment: IJA - Chile, when I see the casualties of the war, it always makes me ill. Some of my classmates that I graduated with have kids as old as 21. Which means that I'm old enough to have lost a child in Iraq. That really makes me sick.

Comment: For anyone who speaks to GHank you can him this story. I know that he always says women have a hard time giving a man in a precarious situation a chance, which I agreed with him on some points because I can be very judgmental. But over the weekend I met a guy whose ex girlfriend is living with him, and is pregnant, the baby is due june 10. They broke up soon after she became pregnant, but then she became homeless and moved in with him. Normally, I would run away screaming from a situation like this, however, there is something special about this man so I'm going to give it a chance, especially since he was so honest about it. I think it's very rare though (almost unbelievable) for two people who have a child together and who live together to not still be messing around in some type of way...but he says they're not - not that it matters at this point b/c I don't know him. I guess we will see. Would you guys run? Where are the men on the board?

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Nappy< yes it makes me ill too. Like literally sick to my stomach. George Stephanopolous gives the list every Sunday…it makes me angry that American people don’t ever understand the gravity of a situation. Like, if Americans really understood what the soldiers lives are like on the ground in Iraq, we’d all be anti-war.

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: rytay and shala< LMAOOOOOOO Than you two! I know, I know, but he's got my curiosity peaked. I always feel like i'm running away from some man though... so it's weird that I'm even giving him a chance.

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: That should have read THANK you two! lol

Name: asize12
Comment: OMG, ARCH! I'm so sorry to hear that! God bless you and your family sweetie. May God be you & your family's strength at this difficult time.

Name: Nappy_Edges
Comment: IJA - I'm gonna totally go against logic and say If you feel that way about him, then stick with 'em and follow your heart. If it doesn't work out, that's fine. You'll have a funny story to tell folks in another 10 years or so. The only way you'll ever figure out what makes you happy and what type of man is right for you is to experience different men and different situations. As long as YOU don't end up pregnant by him living with him, his baby and the ex-girlfriend! (which you won't, of course)

Name: asize12
Comment: >IJA, this situation is SCREAMING out loud "BABYMOMMADRAMA"! Don't get yourself involved with some drama that's already taking place, even if he is being honest you don't know what HER intentions are. She probably thinks they're gonna be a big happy family now that she's living with him. She probably has a plan and she knows that for the most part, ain't no woman gone try to holla at him if they know that a woman, especially his pregant woman, is living with him. If you really like this dude and he's diggin' you too, then let him handle his live-in situation first THEN let him step to you correct. If you choose to stay, just anticipate some drama. JMO

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Nappy< YOU NEVER KNOW!!! lol just kidding. I don't think any reputable hospital would send me home with a baby, not even my own. I knew you would be the unorthodox one. Oh yeah, if something happens, the funny story will be told on the Free for all board BEFORE the 10 year mark. This reminds me, I had some comments to make on your one myspace picture.

Name: TAZBABY
Comment: YLawdY that 911 operator mess up big time. How horrible for this family and this operator has to feel just terrible about the call, well I hope she does.

Name: Mimi
Comment: IJA: There would be so much running going on! Let him work all that out first before you put yourself out there.

Name: asize12
Comment: IJA, one more thing. I'm not saying to stop talking to him period, y'all can still be friends. Who knows, he may just be trying to help her & baby find a new place and if that's the case, then you should stick around because he does sound like he has a heart. I just question her intentions, she could be telling him one thing but have another agenda. But, right now, uh-uh. Take it slow & let him handle his bitness first.

Name: RyTay27
Comment: >>>Taz, she needs a good ole fashion (a)ss whuppin'. What child would call 911 and say that their parent had passed out. I was sooo shocked when I saw this on CNN!!! And the poor baby got the same ignant operator when he called back the 2nd time. No excuse as far as I am concerned. She handled this all wrong.

Name: Nappy_Edges
Comment: ImJustAsking - I'm just saying...crazy shyt like that is what makes up the fabric of one's life. When I met my 1st long-term boyfriend, he lied and said he had one child - a 5 yr old. Come to find out, he had an ex-girlfriend living at his grandmom's house with a 1-year old. That's in addition to the 5 yr old. On top of that, he had an 8-month old! We stayed together for 5 crazy years. In retrospect, I'm so happy to have been with him (to get all the crazy dramatic shyt out of the way early in my life).

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: asize12 and MiMi< *hugs you both* I can assure you both this, I am a slow mover when it comes to relationships hence I've never been in one. But he gets points for being honest right????

Name: Mimi
Comment: Hey, didn't a cat call 911 because his owner fell out? What state was that, and if they can go see what a cat has to say, why couldn't little man get any love?

Name: YLawdY
Comment: IJA...a BIG cyber smack upside the head! What is wrong with you? Is your life too boring? It must be to invite this type of drama into it! Or you're a closet masochist. Let it out girl. Deep breath, on your mark, get set, GOOOOOOOOOOOO! The story might be funny in 10 years, but can cause a lot of unfunny in between time.

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Nappy< LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO he had ALOT going on girl. I LOVES it. So what made you stick around after he lied? I just broke it off with someone for not calling to say they'd be extra late!! asize12< you brought up a good point, what is going through the ex's mind. Via my myspace investigations (they both have pages) she does put that she's single but you're right, she could be plotting.

Name: TAZBABY
Comment: RyTay you are so right. I wonder what part of the news had she missed when they talk about little bitty people calling 911 when there is trouble. Not too long ago a little 5 year old girl called 911 to say her Mommie had gone to sleep and the 911 operator kept her on the phone until Paramedics arrived, this lady had gone into a diabetic coma. This 911 operator is in hot water and I hope she feels bad.

Name: asize12
Comment: >LawdHv, I was crying my eyeballs out last night when I saw that on CNN. My husband was going OFF on her! That was SO horrible! Then, her co-worker HAD THE NERVE to defend her!!!! JERK-OFF! My heart goes out to that baby boy.

Name: Mimi
Comment: IJA: Yeah, I guess he gets points; just not YOU at the moment! Stay strong, girlfriend. If it's meant to be, it will happen, but who needs extra stress?

Name: YLawdY
Comment: IJA...hell no he don't get points for being honest! He should handle his business before trying to add new bidness. It's a trick I tell you. Get you to thinking he's all heart and honesty when really he's starring in his own drama series. LOL However, if you must, take trini's gun, wear a bulletproof vest, use condoms, birth control pills, IUD's and have a backup!

Name: YLawdY
Comment: CTFU @ Mimi...going to see what the cat had to say!

Name: Mimi
Comment: IJA: Don't give him any!

Name: Nappy_Edges
Comment: YLAwdY - I'm telling IJA to go for it because I know that she's a very analytical, careful-treading dater. Yeah, it will be funny in 10 years, but unfunny shyt makes for a stronger, more focused woman in the long run. Sometimes, you need to "go for it" instead of thinking and asking folks and wondering. Basically, let the baby touch the stove, burn their hand and they will never touch the stove again.

Name: asize12
Comment: >YLawd, I think church on tv is fine. I believe that what God looks at is your yearning to learn & know his word. I don't think he'll judge just because you're learning it from tv. Don't get it twisted, everyone that attends church IS NOT entering the Kingdom of Heaven! TRUST! Going to church doesn't = Christian, accepting the fact that Jesus Christ died & rose again for our sins = saved;-)

Name: LawdHvMrcy
Comment: *sigh* IJA-- what in da heyall is wrong with you, chile? Didn't you go through the same situation with BCS where you 'welcomed' his honesty about his relationship with his ex but there was just 'something' about him that kept drawing you to him so you decided to continue the relationship? THEN you found out that he is full of shyt and wants his cake and eat it, too? Don't get me wrong, I applaud the brother for being honest. But, how would you feel if you were knocked up with the child of the man you are living with and he starts bringing other hussies home? I am SURE that chick is hoping that they will be 'one big happy family' someday... Don't get sucked into the fact that he was honest-- look at what he was honest ABOUT. If he was 'honest' and told you he was a frequent visitor to Brokeback Mountain, but he was really feeling you, would you kick it with him--simply because he was HONEST about his situation?!?!? *minimizes screen in disgust*

Name: YLawdY
Comment: Could be plotting? She don't have no momma, sister, play cousin? EX aint been EX long enough if she's still pregnant for her to have gotten over it! Now he may truly believe what he's saying, but we know how we do men. They can't think straight when we talk fast. "Oohh Imma stay here for a minute, Uh after the baby's born, we'll move; After the six week checkup..Oohh feeling attached to Tricketta, we'll stay a little longer." Next thing you know, baby number 2 is on the way! CTFU And heaven forbid if something is wrong with baby or baby's mama...they'll never leave.

Name: RyTay27
Comment: >>>Taz, I didn't see the co-worker. But what baffles me is that the mayor or commissioner is saying steps will be take after a proper investigation has taken place. Ok, let me ask this. Was this kid known for calling and pranking 911? Was the kid laughing? Did the child sound like he was joking in any way? From the audio I heard, I would say no to all of those questions. So what is there to investigate? She was wrong and should lose her job behind it. You never know if the Mom could have been helped had she reponded differently.

It hit the surrounding counties, but not where I live. I feel sorrry for all b/c that tornado decimated trailer and brick homes alike. Most of the deaths occurred from people who live in trailers. Lawdhv< YES, I did appreciate BCS’ honesty and after I realized he was going nowhere fast I cut him loose. You of all people know my long drawn out story! Remember? You were sick of hearing about it? He’s gone now, I overreacted with the whole missing him thing, but that only lasted 3 days, you know how dramatic I can be. And I really really did not want you to see Brokeback mountain b/c I knew you would come back with a 'tude. Comment: Wrongful Death Suit Planned After Boy's 911 Call Ignored Mother Died After Boy Called For Help POSTED: 6:41 am PDT April 10, 2006 DETROIT -- A prominent lawyer said he plans to file a lawsuit over the death of a Detroit woman whose young son was unable to convince a 911 operator his mother needed help. Geoffrey Fieger said 46-year-old Sherrill Turner, who had an enlarged heart, would have survived if help had been sent immediately. After Turner collapsed, Robert placed two calls to 911. In the first call, Robert said his mother had passed out, but an operator asked to speak with an adult. Robert Turner called 911 to get help for his mother, whom he found lying unconscious on the kitchen floor of their Detroit apartment in February, the station reported. "Then I had felt her tummy. She wasn't breathing. Then I had called 911," said Robert. "I told them to send an emergency truck right now." Police arrived after the second call. But Sherrill Turner was dead. Fieger, best known for defending assisted-suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian, appeared on morning talk shows with the boy, Robert Turner, who turned 6 last month.

Comment: YlawdY< Wellllll, being as though I have only had 2 discussions with him (we met Friday), I tried not to hammer him with questions cause who knows what either of us wants in this situation...but when I asked him why his ex was an ex, he told me it was nothing major, that they both felt their relationship at run it's course due to negligence on both their parts. Those are his EXACT words. They ere both students at my alma mater so once the semester was up, she had nowhere to stay and now she lives with him. That's most of what I know so far.

My "friend" is very attractive and honest but he was living with his baby's mama because she didn't have nowhere to turn and he didn't want to leave his children out in the cold. Anyway that was two years ago and guess what? Aint a dayum thing changed. Now I tried to keep it on a friendship level for as long as possible but you know eventually when youre dealing with someone you're attracted to...shyt will happen! So now I'm in his system and he's in mine and its very diffcult to let go even though we both know its for the best. Comment: Trini< Forgive me Madame Secretary if this is long but I take fashion very seriously. Okay good, definitely don’t get black shoes! You know I have one friend who ONLY wears black or brown shoes. BOOOOO Anyhoo, yes the bronze sounds great. Strappy looks good with Capri pants…although if the pants hit right below the knee and are tapered to the leg (especially if you’re short), it’s usually better to go for a pump (even a peep-toe one) b/c it elongates the leg and has a smoother transition into the ankle area. On the other hand, if your capris are not tapered and are more on the wide side, a pump can look awkward and strappy is better…unless the capris come down to the ankle in which case, once again, the pump would look better. NOW if you go for a pump, I would not go for bronze, I would do red, yes red – provided the pumps have no decorations or funky things going on. Simple red with black and white is stunning. But if you go for the strappy sandals the bronze makes sense…b/c red with straps is hookerish (not that you mind that), plus that zebra print is flashy enough. I will say that depending on the bronze, it could make your foot fade out…so you could consider a black or gold bejeweled shoe! Now, about Aldo! I have always heard that their shoes fall apart, even from a girl who worked there…is that true? I’ve never had a pair from there.

The next day, the local paper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S %*$. This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent. The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: NUN HAS BEST %*$ IN TOWN. The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10. The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS %*$ FOR $10. This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild. My dad also invites ex-husband to her high school graduation (not until 2007). I am annoyed with my dad for bothering my daughter with her father's non-sense. I felt he should have just let her know, he'd called and left it alone. In addition, I don't think he should be inviting him to graduation. Your daughter is 15 or 16 so I don’t think she’s harmed by her Grandfather telling her to call her Dad, it’d be different if she was younger. My friend went through a similar situation, her father was not around at all when she was growing up and her mom did NOT want him taking up a ticket at graduation. But since she’s been 18 she chats with her father and doesn’t hold a grudge anymore. She knows he’s still a loser and she accepts it. Of course, she’s also non-confrontational but that’s besides the point LOL. What does your daughter think?

Then, when I read a couple of days later that she recanted and dropped the charges I just had to SMH. She most definitely attempted to use the race card. Its unfortunate that the witnesses had the 'Big Joker' in their back pocket to beat her 'Ace'.

Hell, she wasn't doing too much before then. She's always throwing these guilt trips on my daughter. And, I'll be honest, I've always made excuses for her (she's getting her act together, she's trying to get on her feet, etc.). Well, now it's turned into bicth you getting over!!! Ain't no way she would let my husband pull the shat that she's pulling. Hell, he was doing more than her AND PAYING CHILD SUPPORT!!! Comment: Good Afternoon All!! I hope everyone is well on today. Just dropping in to check in with ya'll. We buried my 88 year old Grandfather on Saturday and it was a homegoing to remember. I got the call at work last Tuesday afternoon to come to the hospital as there was nothing else they could do for him and that it was only a matter of time. Apparently he had a brain anneurysm in his sleep. He had a pulse and was breathing on his own but he was technically brain dead. They said he could be in that state for hours or days. I left work and joined my family at the hospital. We were ALL there gathered around him letting him know how much we loved him. Pastor came and said the prayer. When the prayer was done, my Grandaddy took 2 long, deep breaths and he was gone. It was as if he had waited for us to gather and pray before he went home. One of the hardest things to see, but my heart instantly felt at peace that he was gone on to a better place. He had lived a long full life and mine is all the more better from having had him in it. I feel soooo blessed. We love and miss him a great deal already, but I know he and my Granny are cuttin' a rug something awful up there together. Thanks for letting me share. Have a great day!!

Comment: I’ve heard of grilling suspects — but ungrilling? Judge stops feds at last minute from seizing permanent gold dental work The Associated Press Updated: 3:54 p.m. ET April 7, 2006 TACOMA, Wash. - Talk about taking a bite out of crime. Government lawyers tried to confiscate the gold tooth caps known as "grills" from the mouths of two men facing drug charges, saying the dental work qualified as seizable %*$ets. They had them in a vehicle headed to a dental clinic by the time defense attorneys persuaded a judge to halt the procedure. "I've been doing this for over 30 years, and I have never heard of anything like this," said Richard J. Troberman, a past president of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. "It sounds like Nazi Germany when they were removing the gold teeth from the bodies, but at least then they waited until they were dead." Prosecutors had a warrant to seize the gold dental work, according to documents and lawyers involved in the case. But they eventually abandoned the effort, saying they mistakenly thought the grills were removable. The customized tooth caps, popularized by rappers such as Nelly, are made of precious metals and jewels and can cost thousands of dollars for a full set. Some can be snapped onto the teeth, while others are permanently bonded to the teeth. Flenard T. Neal Jr. and Donald Jamar Lewis both have permanently bonded grills, their lawyers said. Neal and Lewis, both charged with several drug and weapon violations, were taken Tuesday from the Federal Detention Center to the U.S. marshal's office, where they were told the government had a warrant to seize the grills. They called their lawyers as they were about to be taken to a dentist, said Miriam Schwartz, Neal's public defender. A permanent stay of the seizure order was that day by U.S. Magistrate J. Kelley Arnold, court documents show. "%*$et forfeiture is a fairly routine procedure, and our attorneys were under the impression that these snapped out like a retainer," said Emily Langlie, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office in Seattle. The defense lawyers criticized what they said was a clandestine attempt to have the grills removed. "It's shocking that this kind of action by the federal government could be sought and accomplished in secret, without anyone being notified," said Zenon Peter Olbertz, who represents Lewis. "It reminds me of the secret detentions" in terrorist cases. Langlie and court clerks said seizure warrants are typically sealed to prevent defendants from trying to move or hide valuables and evidence. They become public with the filing of a return that shows what was seized.
