Comment: I guess this is better than hawking products (ala George Foreman)...this will undoubtedly ensure the financial stability of Ali, his many wives, and his many children.

Name: B00TANEB00TUS
Comment: No it's not better...do you know how much money Foreman has made hawking grills...His name is synomomous(sp) with grill machines...People refer to any grill machine as a foreman...I just hope they use common sense when lending his name and likeness to any product...I hope his family has some say in how his likeness will be used...I don't wanna see him selling roach spray again...He11 you don't know what white folks will attach his name to...I'm glad the legend got paid but this seems weird to me..."Ali veggie burgers"..."Ali, Ali anti-freeze"...."Jolly Ali popcorn"...

Name: Teigh
Comment: George doesn't have any more control either...he sold his name to the Grill makers because they got tired of cutting him royalty checks and for some strange reason...George agreed to the buyout

Name: McNasty
Comment: It's the same thing and it's called business. George agreed to the buy out because he himself couldn't count up to the dollar amount they paid him. I ain't mad at either of them. I do hope they understand that there should come a responsibility along with selling their names and likenesses. The black community doesn't need any more boo boo the fools!

Comment: Cha-ching... all the way to the bank. I'm proud of Ali making such a big move and then the biggest move of all, keeping a percentage in tow. Teigh, no disrespect or anything, but you don't sound like you understand the concept of "passive income." Lending (selling) your name for endorsement purposes is one of the easiest ways to financial freedom, because you do absolutely nothing and checks keep coming in. One COUld say... Ali... why don't you spend your own money and sell the products that you want to sell and make money that way. But such a plan fails to take into consideration that many most businesses fail and that most business ventures take a great deal of planning, money, and effort. Lending your name for endorsements is the height of flattery and is so much the "no brainer" that it's barely worth the discussion. All this premature talk about "sell out" is the talk of broke folks (not saying that's you).

Comment: $50 million is lovely for him and his family. But I hope his minority stake doesn't mean that his family will have no say in how his image is used. It would be a shame to see old footage of him in Swiffer commercials ("knock out dirt"), ads for exercise machines ("knock out fat"), or bug spray ("float like a butterfly, but kill bees"). In my opinion, when people's images or songs or what have you are used in any and every ad, it diminishes the seriousness of their legacy. But I'm glad that his family will be set with this money.

Comment: actually it says that they paid him 50mil for acquisition rights to 80percent...now, knowing a lil about intellectual property: he retained 20 percent...which is good and he MIGHT be getting a percent of any revenues generated in addition to the 50mil.....

Comment: I am so sick of the word "sellout"..hey, making a deal that would be worthy and legitimate to feed your family is not selling out..the brotha is old and has a horrible disease..no boxing money is coming in..he gotta do something to keep the bread coming in...chillout..I swear some of our folks take this a little too overboard with the sellout terminology....

Comment: $50 million still seems low to me for selling the rights to "All Things Ali" from this point until forever. I think he could have gotten much more then that if he shopped it around some more.
