Comment: what happened to her daughter? if her mother and countless other black civil rights soldiers would have known more about what the so-called integration into the white society would do to the cohesion of our lives they would probably have rethought their strategy and decided we needed our own shism. i will never disrespect my elders who struggled to become a part of society at large, because they thought it would afford a better life for them and theirs. but what do you expect from a group of people who have shown us over and over how much they hate us, and how little they think of our comfort and security. all they want from us is our slave labor, our dollars, and, i would say our vote, but it has been proven lately how the political process is a sham. they want us to just go away so they don't have to watch us suffer the injustices this society has wrought upon us initially, and to this day; but also how we then became the co-conspirators in our own demise. we will always be on the bottom until we realize as a people that our salvation lies in our ability to love, respect, and assist each other in the struggle for liberation. not only from our oppressors, but from anyone who looks like us, and doesn't have our best interests at heart. never send your children to your enemy to be educated. they will become indoctrinated in how great these "other" people are, and how inferior we are. it's time to stop singing we shall overcome, and just do it!! 1love.

Comment: I wonder what Condi's Mom thought when she found out that Condi went 1000.00 per pair shoe shopping (in New York City) while the Katrina Debacle was unfolding?-----I wonder if Condi's Mama is aware that her offspring helped George Bush lie to America about Iraq and waste Billions of dollar's while the poor and middle class cope with little or no Health Care?----Sure Condi is a beacon of light for the people, sure she is. -------Condi is more like the daughter of (self-hating Black) Uncle Ruckus from The Boondock's show.

Comment: >Telthepe: I hear ya, feel you and sense your outrage at our lot in Amerikkka radiating throughout my body. My spirit tells me that you practice what you preach. Right on! It's very heartwarming to know that Rice's Mother was a civil rights crusader. But how can this 'daughter' who was also a friend to the Birmingham girls, defile her Mother's memory by joining the most racist, lying %*$ed, greedy administration in the history of the galaxy. She may as well be working for the Klan! She's a DISGRACE to her Mother and Mother AFRICA!! I don't care how many degrees she has, Grandma J. J. would label her..."an educated fool!"

Comment: "I remember my parents making it very clear that this was not about me or my worth," Rice said. "It was their problem, not mine." - Now see that is a problem right there to me and it shows why she is the way she is in some ways. She was told from an early age the race problem during that time was not her problem. She probably carried that thinking into her teen, young adult and even adult years as we all see. I wanna know why she is coming out with this now. When she was on Oprah that time she didn't even mention this. Oprah asked her about the four little girls that were killed in the bombed church and her response was about indifferent as I have ever seen for a woman coming from that same generation that lived ust miles away. she acted like she was totally disconnected from that whole time and even said her parents kept her away from most of it they could.

Comment: "I remember my parents making it very clear that this was not about me or my worth," Rice said. "It was their problem, not mine." - She has probably used that line to herself in her thinking for a great many things that affected black people from that time to present (Katrina). "It (is) their problem, not mine." - She probably was walking around New York going high-end shoe shopping and play-going thinking this about the Hurricane Katrina victims too.

Comment: She's a damn lie! I heard and saw her on 60 Minutes and she was going on and on about how her parents kept her so sheltered and didn't want her subjected to the racial issues in Alabama and they didn't want to cause problems so they never participated in any type of marches, etc. I remember that clearly and I thought to myself, well that explains why she thinks like she does. The bottom line is almost 80% of AA despise her and feel she is nothing more than George Bush's personal bed winch and she'll do anything to save face with black people because when the shyt hits the fan, Bush's azz will make her the fall guy and she'll be screaming RACISM, believe that!

Comment: Con-do-leeza is a joke, and now she has to stoop to mock the civil rights movement via her late mother? She will stop at nothing to prove that she is immune to being black. too bad she can't get to a black hairdresser to get those bbs fixed on her neck and forehead. This woman is a disgrace, and how dare her try and evoke anything related to the struggles that people endured during the first 60 years of the 20th century, and continue to suffer under the hands of the man of her dreams, Bush and his racist fellow Republicans.

Comment: I know I'm going to get beat up for this, but Condeleeza, to me, is no different than other Blacks I have met since moving to Birmingham. I find they believe in order to get ahead they have to denounce their blackness and immulate an angleo-saxon lifestyle and mannerism. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with getting ahead, but Condeleeza, I believe, purposely doesn't speak out on Black issues because she doesn't want to make waves with da bossman -- she doesn't want to be known as the Black Secretary of State, which she is. I have met many people from Alabama with education but they lack a sense of self.

Comment: TMan > Alot of African Americans shared the same sentiment. It was word more on the line of "White people are the one's with the issues and the hang ups, not us. We are just trying to live our lives as hard working citizens". So Condi's response is nothing new. If you speak with your Mom or your Granny (if they were around in the 60's) they will tell you just that, I know mine did. There was no reason for Black Americans to hang their head low, they didn't do anything wrong. They were just trying to live their lives & get equal rights. I'm not made at Condi. Working for the Government is like working for Corporate America. If you expect to move up the chain or hold an Executive level position, then you need to know how to play the game and be willing to play it. Otherwise, we would NEVER have an African American there...And I mean ever. Oh and by the way, If I'm not mistaken ALL politicians lie at some point of their terms.

Comment: there is a very pertinent question each and every black person has to ask themselves; that question is, "if i "sellout," can i look at myself in the mirror, and like what i see peering back at me?" some of us will emphatically say no!! others, it doesn't matter. i guess the real question is how can i ever be happy with a moneyed lifestyle, and all the accoutrements that go with it, and the masses of the people that look like me are still suffering? 1love.

Comment: ...there were some that look at Fredrick Douglass was a sellout. Most did not know at the time the method of his madness. But that brotha was working hard on the upper level of Government to move us (black people) a head. I think we throw that term around too frequent, sort of like how the race card is thrown in at every whim. I as long she's not compromising her religious, ethical stance and she's okay with it, I say Move Up, Sisah! I'm not mad at you.

Comment: ladyvyrd, interesting points. Those lines to me are nothing new either especialy coming from her. It just shows to me more of why she is the way she is. Personally, I don't trust her worth a damn, she's the type you'd put the average happy baby in in her arms and instantly the baby'd start crying. lol! but the same can be said for most politicians. She knows the art of filbustering like a politician, she also seems to know the art of talking in political code. She does that quite a bit. I understand playing the game. I also understand loyalty but she is a bit extreme to me as far as her's to the Bushes. Can we say dedicated, loyal office wife to your old boss even though she has a new position?

Comment: We're not right. The only reason why black folks hate Rice and are quick to criticize her is because she's a Republican. If she were a Democrat, people on this board would be defending her. I don't agree with her political views, but I'm not going to knock her for trivial reasons such as her hairstyle and political affiliation. I'm starting the think the best way to trick black folks is to put a (D) behind your name and tell them what you stand for.

Comment: This is not an issue of Con VS Lib or Dem VS Repub. The issue is now Wrong VS Right and the Truth VS a Lie. You would think that more people were paying attention that Bush, Condi, Cheney, and others knew that Iraq didn't have any WMD's that could harm us. The facts are out there if you are willing to look. Just for the record, Iran will be capable of building a Nuclear bomb in 5 to 10 years. But according to Condi, Cheney, and Bush they can be built in a matter of day's, so we must attack right away. WTF? I guess this disinformation fooled Americans about the WMD's in Iraq, why not try again. Nothing but Lies from America's most corrupt group of Politicians, Dem or Repub.

For Halloween she's probably likely to play Vampira! lol! If she walked into a room filed with real life vampires and ghouls, they'd probably back up off a sista wid da quickness! lol! They'd give her all the space she needs! Hsssssssssssssss!

Comment: Difference between her parents and mine? My Mom went off on the store clerks and explained to me that I will probably have to do the same. I was not sheltered from racism. Most responsible Black parents would NEVER do that. The probably thought they should spare her but all that did was to make Leezy think that since she was not affected then she could keep looking forward and not around her.
SoulMusic: You are so right. The only reason Blacks hate Leezy is because she's the front woman for her ignorant boss. She defends them over all the awful things they've done from Iraq to Katrina. How could anyone support her??? Color has NOTHING to do with it and shouldn't. I don't care if she was my sister, I'd still have the same opinion.

Comment: (Late 2 the party) SmokeyBones makes the point I have always made. Condi Rice is someone Black people want to have in the forefront. Unfortunately, it ain't her and it's due to her political affiliations. She's made some admirable accomplishments, but we cannot acknowledge them because she has abandoned us for the power of the upper one percent. I, for one, will NOT accept her back (like we did OJ) when the shiznit hits the proverbial fan. On another note, that picture of her is something else: a picture only a mother or a very desperate man could love. A picture that belongs on a box of Lemonheads...
