Comment: BENTON, Tenn. - A bear attacked a family at a camp site in the Cherokee National Forest on Thursday, killing a 6-year-old girl and injuring her 2-year-old brother and mother, authorities said. The attack took place near a pool of water on Chilhowee Mountain, said Dan Hicks, spokesman for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Witnesses described the bear picking up the boy in its mouth while the mother and other visitors tried to fend it off with sticks and rocks, Hicks said. The mother was injured before the bear was chased away. The girl ran away during that attack, but was found dead a short time later with the bear nearby. A park ranger fired at least one shot at the bear before it bolted off. The woman and her son were flown by helicopter to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, where both were being treated for wounds consistent with a bear attack, Hicks said. Hospital officials did not immediately return calls for comment, but Hicks said the boy was listed in critical condition. The victims' names were not released.
Forest Service employees, TWRA game agents and several hunters were searching for the bear in an area spanning several thousand acres.
The 640,000-acre park runs along the southeastern Tennessee border with North Carolina, southwest of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Comment: Did anyone see any of that SpringBling on BET last night??? I saw the Revamped @7:30...They have dance groups come in to audition to work with LoriAnn to "revamp" a video she picks. GARBAGE!!!!!!! LoriAnn was a mess on Making the Band and she was a mess on this show. Looking simple with her mouth hanging open all the time and whinning nonstop when she speaks. They had one of those boys from Ugly Oscar(that's Pretty Ricky for the rest of you)as a judge, scared tears to my eyes!!! I couldn't stand anymore.

Comment: HAPPY, HAPPY FRIDAY EUR. What's up BREEZY? I have work to do, but it can wait. I was up late redoing my hair after this hairdresser messed it up. She was so sweet though I din't have the heart to get upset. I don't think she realized my hair wasn't straightened and by the time she was washing it out and realized it was really curly, I think she got confused. It just went downhill from there. I was sitting in the chair knowing my hair would be a hot mess by the time I left, but she's a student and I could tell she was trying and I just even though I wanted to get up and say "Never mind. Lemme get home and get a head start fixing this", I couldn't do it. Any other time, I would have told the hairdresser to please take her hands out of my head and I would have left. When I got home, I had to rewash my hair because it was literally matted down to the roots. I couln't even pull a comb through it. LOL. Poor thing. I know she felt bad and the other student stylists staring at her and my hair didn't help I'm sure. It took every fibre of self-restraint I had not to bust out laughing everytime I saw my hair in the mirror. It looked like a really huge brillo pad sitting on top of my head. This is why I avoid hairdressers. Most don't know how to handle natural hair.

Comment: Court records revealed that Wise was familiar to area police. More than a dozen charges, including burglary, theft and agricultural vandalism, from 2004 are pending in Lancaster County Court. In September, police used a stun gun to subdue Wise after he allegedly punched a man and stole $20 from him at a fair. He was charged with third-degree robbery and simple %*$ault, court records show. Wise went by the nickname "Jay," has a baby daughter who lives with her mother and worked at a supermarket until a couple of weeks ago, said his relative, John Sean Adams. The victims apparently died of multiple traumatic injuries sometime last weekend, prosecutors said. They were found after Wise's grandfather, Jessie L. Wise, 60, called Adams from New York on Wednesday and asked him to check on his family, whom he hadn't heard from in five days. Adams went into the basement ahead of police, and stopped halfway down the steps. "They're all dead! All six of them are dead!" he yelled, police said in court papers.
The dead were identified as Jesse Dee Wise's grandmother, Emily Wise; two relatives believed to be his aunts, Wanda Wise, 45, and Agnes Arlene Wise, 43; two of Emily Wise's grandchildren, Skyler Wise, 19; Chance Wise, 5; and 17-year-old relative Jessie James Wise, authorities said. "If he killed his little 5-year-old cousin, he has no heart. He has to go down for it," Adams, 24, told The Associated Press.
Three of the victims were hit in the head with a blunt metal object and the others were strangled, police said in an affidavit. One of the bodies had obvious head wounds, according to the affidavit. One body was at the bottom of the steps wrapped in a comforter secured with a phone cord. The affidavit also described blood in the rooms and bone fragments. In a guitar case at the home, police found two 17-inch pieces of metal wrapped at one end with cloth, "which had the appearance of a homemade weapon/club, capable of causing death if used as a weapon," the affidavit said. Police said it also appeared to have blood on it.

The troubled ex-champ, 39, decided to check into the $4,000-a-night Meadows clinic in Phoenix for 30 days after being inspired by a recent trip to Chairman Mao's tomb in China. We went to cosmetology school for a couple of periods a day. It took three years to get all of our hours, but we both passed the boards upon graduation from highschool. My sister got hers in '81 and I got mine in '91. My license has probably expired because I haven't been to a Continuing Ed class since the late 90's. My sister, on the other hand, has been a stylist for 25 years, went to Dudley's graduate school, is on the State Cosmetology board for SC in an officer capacity, and is a salon owner so I would HOPE she is making Madama CJ Walker proud. hehehe I, on the other hand, am probably making Madame CJ turn over in her grave! lol

Walter S. Fordyce, 58, of Uniontown, remained jailed without bond Thursday on a charge of criminal homicide. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
Fordyce told police he began arguing with his live-in girlfriend, Mary McCann, 58, early Thursday.
After throwing her to the floor, Fordyce threw a microwave oven onto McCann's chest after she refused to heat up sandwiches for him, he told police. Fordyce also said he stomped on McCann's chest repeatedly then banged her head on the floor until she lost consciousness but that he also said he didn't mean to kill her, police said.
"It was an accident. I didn't do it on purpose," police quoted Fordyce as saying.
Fordyce ran to a neighbor's house for help, but couldn't find anyone there to call 911, police said. After returning home and checking McCann for a pulse and finding none he went downstairs and drank a beer before going to another neighbor's home and asking them to call 911, police said.
Autopsy results were not immediately available.

The recording, obtained by The Associated Press, is of the voice of one of the first police officers to see the woman the night after the alleged %*$ault.
Police attempted to search dorm rooms occupied by members of the men's lacrosse team, the school's president said Friday, who cautioned he was just learning about the effort and still seeking details himself.
"I am aware that police attempted to enter those rooms and I am now about to leave this news conference to learn the whole story," Richard Brodhead said when asked about the Thursday night searches.
The searches would be the third made by police as they investigate allegations made by a black 27-year-old stripper who told police she was raped and beaten by three white men around midnight at an off-campus party thrown by Duke's lacrosse team. The racially charged allegations have led the university to cancel the team's season and accept the resignation of its coach.
Police had previously searched the home where the party occurred and the Duke dorm room of lacrosse player Ryan McFayden. The search of McFayden's room came after police obtained a vulgar and graphic e-mail sent from his school account shortly after the alleged %*$ault.

Comment: The taped police conversation, which took place about 1:30 a.m. March 14, occurred about five minutes after a grocery store security guard called 911 to report a woman in the parking lot who would not get out of someone else's car.
In an interview with FOX News earlier this week, Durham attorney Bill Thomas, who represents one of the lacrosse players, alluded to the fact that the woman was drunk and that perhaps she made up the story about being raped to get herself out of trouble with the police.
During the recorded conversation, the officer gave the dispatcher the police code for an intoxicated person and said the woman was unconscious. When asked whether she needed medical help, the officer said: "She's breathing and appears to be fine. She's not in distress. She's just passed-out drunk."
No charges have been filed, but District Attorney Mike Nifong has said he believes a crime was committed. Attorneys for the players have said DNA tests failed to connect any players to the alleged attack, and they have urged Nifong to drop his investigation.
Since the allegations were made, there have been protests at both Duke University and North Carolina Central University in Durham, where the alleged victim attended school.

"We've been dealt the cards that we have, we're going to play with them," Bell added. "I'm convinced this city of Durham, this county of Durham, is going to be a much better community when all of this is completed."
Bell added that any racial tensions that may exist is not representative of Durham, nor is it unique to the city. But community and school leaders are working to ease those tensions.
"What we're doing is really [dealing with] a national issue, it just so happens you guys have come in and made it a Durham issue," Bell said, directing his comments toward the media.
Several defense attorneys say they expect the district attorney to ask a grand jury Monday to issue charges. There has been no official word, however, on whether Nifong intends to present the allegations then. His next opportunity would come until two weeks later.

The description of the woman's medical exam — which Nifong has said is his basis for believing a rape occurred — does not mention her being drunk. The woman has told police she and another stripper hired to dance at the party arrived at 11:30 p.m. March 13. The pair reportedly left the house a short time later, fearing for their safety. That's when she said she was dragged into a bathroom and raped, beaten and choked for a half hour.
At 12:53 a.m., police received a 911 call from a woman complaining that she had been called racial slurs by white men gathered outside the home where the party took place.
The defense has said it believes the second dancer at the party made that call. The 911 call from the grocery store security guard was placed at 1:22 a.m.
In it, the caller says, "Um, the problem is ... it's a lady in somebody else's car and she will not get out of their car. She's like, she's like intoxicated, drunk or something. She's, I mean, she won't get out of the car, period."
Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael declined to comment on the contents of the radio traffic.
The case has focused intense national scrutiny on Duke and the lacrosse players and has sparked protests on the elite private university's campus and elsewhere in Durham. The school last week canceled the highly ranked team's season and coach Mike Pressler resigned after the release of the graphic e-mail sent by a team member.

I ordered about 100pks of them off ebay after Halloween a couple years back. I guess they wanted to get rid of them b/c they had Halloween advertising on the box, but they were the same brand I was buying in the store. Anyway, I trim them with cuticle scissors. I think the glue quality matters more than the eyelash quality. As far as looking foolish…just get someone to look at you, the same way you would after doing your makeup. Then just get a routine down…I always cut them the same way, and always use the same brand. I was actually looking into trying the eyelash extensions they do at salons for those months when I have a lot of events to attend with him.

At first, she broke down, crying harder than she ever had since the night nearly three years ago when Anthony Warren fired three rounds at the house where she was sitting on a porch.
After a sip of water and some consoling from her mother, Kai spoke.
"What you done to me was wrong," she said to the man seated just 10 feet away. "But I still forgive him."
Warren, 29, of Boston, had been scheduled to go to trial on six %*$ault and weapons charges last month. He instead pleaded guilty to all charges Thursday.
Prosecutors say Warren, his brother and others had an argument with people who lived on the first floor of the three-family house where Kai lived with her family. They left, then Warren returned around 11 p.m. on July 1, 2003, and fired three rounds at the house.
One of the bullets hit Kai - then 3 years old - as she sat on a third-floor porch with an older sister. The bullet shattered her spine, permanently paralyzing her from the chest down.
After his guilty plea, the girl, her mother and two sisters gave emotional statements to Judge Margot Botsford, who then sentenced Warren to 13 to 15 years in prison and five years' probation.
