Comment: Like the singer "Monica" this has been a shock. She may have to take some serious time off to get her and the families head right.

Comment: I can't imagine the pain that the family is going through. It kind of reminds me of the Left Eye tragedy. Ashanti is going to be messed up for a good while, I hope that she knows that this wasn't her fault, but she's going to blame herself, poor thing. My heart goes out to the family. This is a reminder that everyone, regardless if you're in the back seat put on your seatbelts. I'm not sure if her cousin had one on or not, but please buckle up!

Comment: I agree with the seatbelts but what about the fact that there is never ever a reason to drink and get behind the wheel of a car? To compound matters it was stolen.

Comment: Yeah, condonlonces go out to the entire Snead family. Wow... One thing I think is very important for folks to remember (of course this can happen in anytown, USA) but when going to other countries you have to be even more particular and careful. I think a few items forgotten could have stayed at the hotel. As American we are not always accustomed to traveling internationally and have to take extra precautions and maybe not make the same decisions we would make if we were home -in more familiar territory. But like I said this could happen anywhere.

Comment: My condolences to the Snead - Douglas family. Sadly, there are many people who still don't wear seatbelts for whatever reason. I remember when LeftEye was killed they determined that she wasn't wearing seatbelts either.

Comment: So sad, especially when a young life is taken. What many people don't realize is that even though automobiles with seatbelts are required in the US, it is not a standard everywhere. I don't know about South Africa, but some countries don't require seatbelts, so we don't know that the vehicle she was in even had seatbelts. Even if she was wearing one, she could have died. The issue is the stupid drunk driver who hit them.

Comment: Seat belts are enforced in South Africa and every car has seat belts just like in the USA. However, South Africa like Britain do drive on the left hand side. Driving rules are also slightly different because in South Africa a driver cannot turn at a red light even if there is no incoming traffic. I was a bit surprised to learn that the car was driven by an American in a huge and busy city like Johannesburg. It would have been better if they had a South African driver because they understand the place and rules better. I am sure that if these people had seat belts on they would not have been flung out of their car, and would have probably sustained minor injuries.

Kelly is a great singer, shes just hasn't had the opportunity do her thing becase all the attention went to B, She didn't get promoted like they do B, if they put more into Kelly like they do B she would get the exposure to.

Comment: For some of you that have never been to the Motherland, seatbelts are not a legal requirement. Having traveled extentently in Africa, this is fact. There have been many a time when I had to bring a Body back of an American. The cities are bad, but the bush is much more treacherous. This is indeed sad this young lady had to die, so young.

Comment: This is in response to Monicia. First of all, Africa is a huge continent with 53 separate countries and diverse cultures which include over a thousand languages. Africa is slightly bigger than the combined size of Europe, USA (including Alaska & Hawaii) and China. Its population include Blacks, Asians, Europeans and Arabs. I doubt that you have been to many African countries, including South Africa. South Africa is the wealthiest and most developed country in Africa with an infrastructure similar to that in the USA. The first heart transplant was done in South Africa by Dr. Chris Barnard. South Africa has some of the best Universities and research institutions in the world. Money for the so-called Rhodes scholarship comes from South Africa although the world is made to believe that it comes from Britain. Several African countries are major oil producers, although that is kept at low key so that the so-called first world countries can enjoy our resources quietly, while giving bad publicity to the African continent. You mentioned that cities are bad. Well, do not make a generalization because South Africa has the best cities and roads in the world. It is for this reason that fifa has awarded South Africa the 2010 world cup, one of the world major sporting events. You also mentioned that all you enjoyed was the forest. Well, that is good because while the so-called industrialized nations are emitting toxic gases into the atmosphere, the African forests absorb these gases to reduce the green house effect so that there is not another Katrina disaster. So, stop judging Africa based on the discovery channel and the media in general. You will be better of attending the State of Black America and listen to intellectuals like Cornell West, Michael Dyson and Tarvis Smiley to mention just a few of these enlightened brothers who talk from an informed position. As a matter of fact, my wife is an AA and she is of the opinion that you must visit South Africa and then you can talk from an informed position.
