Comment: Rochelle, I think your comments are bit off the mark. It seems to me that those of us who can afford children make the decision not to have a ton of them and people who can LEAST afford them have more of them. Case in point, my cousin doesn't have a penny to her name and popped out 4 kids by 4 different daddies. Consequently they have been taken away by the state. My husband and I (mostly I) have decided 2 is enough for us for various reasons. They ARE expensive if you want to give them a good life. Our children travel with us, the more children we have the less travel opportunities they have in their future. I want them to go to good private schools if our public schools don't cut it. It's about choices and our empowerment in this country is not going to come from more of us popping out more babies we can't afford. You certainly don't have to rich, but you should be in a position to give your child everything he or she needs without begging the government for a dime.

Comment: OK, EUR was it a man who decided that "knocked up" and "pregnant" are synonymous. Please tell me it's a man because I can't imagine any woman in her right mind not being offended by that statement. Like Rochelle said "knocked up" has a negative connotation to it. It implies you're pregnant and didn't plan on it.

Comment: If Solange got pregnant a second time she wouldn't be knocked up but the first time she was knocked up. I don't think she planned on getting pregnant and was not married when she got pregnant. That is why she got married so quick. Personally I didn't pay too much attention to the word knocked up when I read the article. I guess I didn't put that much thought into it since it was about Solange.

Comment: How exactly does one get "knocked up" any damn way?...How do these two words equate to a pregnancy?....Knocked up..Pregnant...Knocked up...Pregnant..The Sh*t don't make sense!

Name: jornar
Comment: Rochelle,MDhornet...right on. That phrase definitely has a negative connotation. In my "opinion", I think most women would agree.

Comment: Please a lot of women get pregnant and didn't necessarily plan on it-actually I do see it as a negative that Solange (married or not) would want to be pregnant again so fast, I am glad for her that she isn't. We live a lot longer now a days and young married couples don't tend to have longevity-particularly with children involved, so I hope for their sake, they do some serious family planning and make it work for them as a couple. Good luck to all the parents of the world, it ain't easy by no means.

Comment: What does it matter either way the meaning is the same. What I don't understand is where were all these folk when they had that marriage annulled right after the kid was born. If the meaning of knocked up is pregnant and not married, if Solange were making feet for stockings the term knocked up would be appropriate.

Comment: Rochelle, EUR uses ghetto terms cuz it is a ghetto site *smirk*

Comment: Pricless, I agree with you. LOL! Now, EUR sure did shut Rochelle up! LMAO! I agree with EUR (I can't believe it) on this one. LMAO at Rochelle bringing up immigration! LMAO!

Name: Priceless
Comment: McNasty, I didn't even remember the marriage being annulled ... how long were they married?

Name: Priceless
Comment: TesticAl, I have a harder time believing this chick thinks the answer to the immigration problems is to have more kids to be a more significant minority, WTF?!

Comment: I find it funny that on this site people call Condeleeza a coon, 50cent an ape, and just about every singer and celebrity is gay but EUR says Solange might be knocked up and people are crying sensitivity... puleeze.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: I feel you Priceless, I have two already and can't afford to get "knocked up" again LOL. If it were CNN that stated "knocked up" then I would find it offensive. But, this is primarily an entertainment site. So, in my opinion, it's all good. Heck, if you find this offensive then please stay away from the message boards.

Comment: I don't think that Solange is married anymore. I think they were only married to cover for the pregnancy.

Name: Victornator
Comment: That first marriage was a sham to cover up her having a baby and not being married. They did not want Solange to appear as your run-of-the-mill "hoodrat chick" who has babies without being married.

Comment: Priceless - five minutes!LMAO

Comment: She's pregnant, she's knocked up, she's got a bun in the oven, she's about to start swelling, she's with child. They all mean the same damn thing! Who really gives a sh*t? She's preganant (yes, I said "preganant")- say congratulations and move on!!! You people get distracted by the most unnecessary sh*t, I swear. Do something about our oil and gas prices getting knocked up on us...

Name: MER82
Comment: LMAO at PHScott-preach it!

Comment: As for the immigration issue, well, I am sure in the end it will not be to our benefit. It's just allowing more people into the country to compete for a small number of jobs available to unskilled laborers. Vicente Fox said they'll take the jobs we don't want and everybody got mad, but it was true. I don't see too many brothers working at the car wash or landscaping lawns. I don't see many sisters cleaning hotel rooms. Those are good jobs and it's better than not working at all. Let this immigration issue fall by the wayside and your futures will fall with it. South-Central LA was predominantly Black 10-15 years ago; now it is predominantly Hispanic and LA has an Hispanic mayor. On top of that, they changed the name (removing Central) to remove the negative ties it had when it was mostly us there! They made sacrifices to accomplish a larger goal, something Black people don't understand nor are willing to do. When one of us "makes it", we rarely reach back to help other Blacks. We feel that we've "escaped", and that's our main problem. Other races don't do that- they pull the others up with them, which only serves to strengthen their own position.

Comment: I missed the Priceless comment on immigration, but that said it all... For those of you wondering why it's an issue, if you live in California you KNOW why. If you live in Texas, you should also have some idea. Like EUR said, that a whole 'nother issue.

Comment: "Knocked Up" is tacky and EUR once again you show how little class you have.

Name: poeticalduchess
Comment: I agree with Rochelle. Knocked up is negative. Thats like saying "bastard" and "illegitimate" mean the same as "born out of wedlock". I am young, I have 5 children and they are all by my husband and after the first two people started looking at me sideways and asking when was I going to get my tubes tied. Black people do act like it is a curse to have children. People say I must be crazy to have all these damn kids and make little smart comments all the time!
