Comment: you know, since i'm the only one that is on this post, i'm going to voice my opinion on this issue of Oprah and the hip-hop genre: I think she should have a special talking about the issues concerning young people in the community and the effects hip-hop has in society. this cannot be ignored. hip-hop has taken over all media, it's too large to ignore. now there has been a lot of flack about O and her not wanting to recognize rappers on her show, but the thing is, she cant ignore it anymore. there are issues that needs to be addressed like shootings, why some of the rappers end up in jail, why are the women downgraded to byeochs and ho's, the lifestyles of a rapper and what should parents do to teach their kids about hip-hop, rap, gangta rap etc. a discussion needs to be met. Is Oprah scared to have rappers on her show, or is it that she just really don't care? if it was Phill Donahue still on TV, i bet every rapper would be on there. it's time to come out of the silly shows about your new house, how to loose weight with the lastest diet craze. if she could have superhead on there, she can invite several rap artists on there to interview too. i love the Big O, but, it's time for her to come out her brand new house and see what is really down the street!

Comment: I watched the show where she had "superhead" on. I felt it was a waste of air time.
What I would like celebrities to do is start a program where inner city kids can be taught how to purchase stocks & bonds, along with understanding every aspect of the "all might dollar". We all have seen celebrities homes, who cares- Enough is Enough!

Comment: Thanks Rayne and bigchassie>I read this awhile ago and didn't feel like it was worth commenting about. But you both are right. We all know you are blessed financially Oprah but leave shallow discussions to MTV and BET. There are more important things to discuss.

Comment: Ditto Southernbelle I was gonna by pass it because I didn't feel like arguing over it. I like O but she can be a bit pretentious and she is when she thinks by not inviting rappers on her show they will somehow dry up and blow away. She is a mover and a shaker and if everything she touches turns to gold who knows what kind of force she can be with them in trying to influence cleaner thoughts and cleaner lyrics and not so damned ragtag as they are now.

Comment: Fif was right: Oprah is geared toward White women 30 to 55. I have no real use for Oprah's show other than when she has the occasional man-friendly guest. And that's OK. There SHOULD be shows for women only. Oprah paid the cost to be the boss; she's just not MY boss...PEACE.

Comment: I like and respect Oprah and she's done more for her people than any other wealthy black person has done. I really don't feel that she has to have rappers on her show if she chooses not to. If they themselves don't use common sense and clean up their act why should Oprah have to tell them. I'm sure they've heard it over and over again about their lyrics, violence, crime, tacky videos and stupidity so what make any of you think that Oprah could possibly save them.
