Comment: Thank you Steve for knowing that the feelings of loss never go away, we just learn to live with them. I think of my mother kindly and often and remember the words she used to give me my wings.
She let me know before she made her transition that I was the exact person she raised me to be and not to let anyone tell me differently (I have 3 elder sisters). She imparted a little more wisdom and after she passed and I grieved I realized what she had done for me and my life took on a whole new meaning and I felt that it was for me to carry the torch now. Happy Mother's Day Mother Dear.

Comment: My goodness did you ever hit the nail on the head!!!! I lost my mom 11 years ago and I still think of her every single day. I would not have had the courage to do the things I have done in my life without her encouragement and belief in me. Mother's Day is a particularly tough day for me. Thank you so much for this article.

Comment: Steven, Thank you! My husband lost his mother 4 years ago, and he has not been the same. It is still a daily struggle for him. I can only sympathize with those that have lost their mothers. I wish all those mothers here and in spirit a Happy Mother's Day!

Comment: One of my best friends died in 2005, and her mother died in March 2006. She was a mother and inspiration to so many, not just her own children. I've already been thinking about how this Mother's Day will be. Thank you for a thoughtful column.
