Comment: GREY'S ANATOMY's #1 fan checking in. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Loved, loved, loved the show last night. Hate that they made Izzie go semi-crazy over love though. Shouldn't one of her friends have taken her aside by now to have a chat. Can't wait for the season finale tonight. I'm confused about the time though b/c I thought it was a 2-hr season finale from 9-11, but then I'm reading Oprah's thing is 2 hours. Which is it? They better not interrupt my Grey's for Oprah. I hope they're not killing off Burke. My fave line from last night.."The only people who don't know Derek loves Meredith are Derek and Meredith." Poor Mrs. McDreamy. I feel for her.

Comment: Hey Everybody. Oprah’s special will be come on the 22nd, the “president” Bush will not interrupt Grey’s (they know better than that) With that said last night was CRAZY, off day chain. That show gets better and better. Burke aka the sexiest thing on network TV (sexiest thing on cable tv is Daniel Sunjata, just wanted to throw that in there), cannot die! I won’t allow it. Izzy is crazy as hizzell! I thought I had seen all the episodes but I do not remember Denny’s first appearance on the show so I’m goin to have to catch the reruns. I’on know how they fell so much in love. Last night I realized that Alex Karev is hotter than hottt. I know he was cute but dayum. I felt sorry for Addison, I think she just cheated on McDreamy to get a reaction out of him, which she still didn’t get. Callie, George’s Latina has always annoyed me but now she’s really grating on my nerves talking about she loves him, I mean ok fast girl. I still love Christina’s cold azz and Meredith can’t help it if boys love her.

Comment: IJA and GA fans, all I can say is gaytdayum!!!! It has been years since a tv show had me glued to it. Last night was so good!!!! That sista is an amazing writer, I love that the hottest show on tv is written by a sista. There are NO stereotypical characters in the show which is so refreshing. Addison needs to just give up on Derek cause he doesn't love her. She's a beautiful woman and can do better. I think Burke getting shot will "soften" up Christina. I do feel that their relationship is running its course though. Izzy has gone insane, it's gonna sound weird but I would love to be in love like that. I think Denny is so grateful to feel that kind of love that he's willing to die cause he'll die happy. Having said that, Izzy is out of control!! George and Callie are a big snore, how on earth can she be in love that fast?! I'm bored with Meredith and she's definately not the star of that show anymore. I was happy that Petey finished off that manager I'm just sorry that Sexualchocolate got shot in the process.

She really made me mad when she didn’t feel sorry for Meredith’s dog (I love my dog like Izzy loves Denny LMAO) so I’m glad Callie ended up letting Meredith know the truth. Lovinlife< CTFU!!!!! I said the same thing about wanting to be in love like Izzy. At first I was like, ok Izzy is off my list of people I like, but then when she broke down and was like “please do this for me” and kept saying it over and over, that was some great acting! I was like OMG Denny, please temporarily die for her! I felt so bad. And poor George, all he could do is stand there while she snapped that cable. CONGRATULATIONS on losing 5lbs girl. Keep it up. How are you and your bellydancing teacher getting along now? HOney< why do you care if the President makes a speech or not? It ain’t like you gonna be watching.

I'm focusing on rehabing my back right now and then I'll go back to it with a different teacher. A trainer that I worked with a couple of years ago is now free-lancing so I hired her again. She was good before but it was expensive going through gold's gym. This time she's going to come to my house on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help me strenghten my core and get my back healthy. I mean I'm getting up at like 6:00 and I'm not getting home til like 7:30 at night. Then I only have a window of opportunity to relax or socialize before bed. There's just not enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do. I don't know what I'm goin to do when I start grad school next August.

Comment: Lovinlife< I didn’t know you had your MBA. That’s great girl!! The program I’m looking at is a Masters in organization development and knowledge management. The program is only 18 months (thank God) so I’ll begin in August 2007 and graduate in December 2008. It's a weekend program, every other friday (5-10pm) and saturday (9-5pm). So when I start I will arrange my work schedule to have every other friday off. The marathon I’m considering is the Army 10 miler and it’s in October. The marine marathons in September and October are full-out marathons – 26 and 13 miles. I know I won’t be ready for that. I’m training with an organization that trains people to be marathon ready in 6 months…but you don’t have to run the actual marathon if you don’t want to. So, my progress between next week and September will determine whether I actually run the marathon. But, at least I know I will be losing tons of weight. HOney< don't you get arrested over a TV show. lol

Comment: US rapper DMX arrested at Heathrow
Sunday, 14th May 2006, 16:45
------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------
US hip hop star turned Hollywood actor DMX has accepted a police caution after he was arrested at Heathrow airport for abusing cabin crew.
The 35-year-old, who shot to fame as a rapper with street anthem 'Get At Me Dog', apparently refused to do up his seat belt properly as his plane made its final approach and then launched into a tirade.
The captain of the American Airlines flight from New York's JFK airport alerted police and DMX - real name Earl Simmons - was arrested once the plane had landed at around 12.15pm on Saturday.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "Heathrow Police were called at 12.05pm on Saturday to reports of a passenger causing a disturbance on an inbound aircraft.
"The plane landed at approximately 12.15pm and a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being verbally abusive to cabin crew.
"He was taken to the police station and later released with a caution."

I’m really sick about Tom cheating, I didn’t think he would do that. I’m SO PROUD of Lynette for leaving. I’m also proud of the writers for not making her stay around and scheme on him. Comment: IJA yes my company will pay for it. Yes I saw DH and I liked it. Bree dropped Andrew's nasty, evil azz off last week. He purposely got her sex addicted boyfriend in her bed and she walked in and he said "now we're even". The next day Bree pretended to drive him to a college to check it out and she left his azz at a gas station. She packed him a bag and gave him some money. I hate that little baztard. I knew Tom was cheating and I agree I like the way Lynette handled it. I like that old woman who watches her kids, she's hilarious. Susan is useless and stupid but I was checking on her abs and that bellyring, not bad at all for a 41 year old. Do you think Carlos is going to sleep with the cute asian maid? She definately wants some of him. Eva Longoria's character is so one dimensional. I know she's supposed to be shallow but it's not even entertaining, at least not to me.

For some reason it didn't look like Alfre got hit it looked like a poke. lol oh yeah, and I didn't like how Edie said that when people help whiny Susan that it doesn't mean she's loved it means that she's helpless...to me it means both. The front of it is lace so it can be glued down to your hairline and look natural if applied correctly.

Comment: Good Morning Everybody! So much happened last night on both Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy that you guys have already covered. Just now on The View, they announced that Oprah's Legends Ball will not air tonight as was originally planned but will air next Monday night (May 22nd) because of the speech tonight by the President. He will come on at 8:00 p.m. (eastern standard time), so that should leave enough time for Grey's 2-hour finale that will come on at 9:00 p.m. (eastern standard time).

Comment: Good Morning Everybody! Happy Monday!
GA was GOOD... G.W comes on a 8 but you know they have to critique his comments afterwards which takes foreva..they better be finished by 9. Furthermore, for Prison Break fans they have the season finale coming on at 8:20 (to allow for the speech). I wonder if they will cut him off mid-sentence if he isn't finished??? But, that means GA and Prison Break will overlap..*sigh*.

The stylist I go to doesn't do a hard press. She does the roots and then flat irons the rest. It's really soft when she's done and feels and looks like a perm. I have not been able to duplicate this at home. Any suggestions. Could it be that my flat iron isn't hot enough?

Comment: Morning all- OMG, OMG, OMG, Grey’s effing Anatomy. I knew that gunman was going to come back, I just knew it. I told my b/f but when the boy was walking out the door, he looked to me and said, “he didn’t come back” Then bang bang bang, shoots fired. But what I didn’t put together is Preston leaving from where he was and getting there just in time to get shoot. I was floored. And I know Sandra O is going to be so mad when she finds out because she was sooo pizzed at him and when ur mad at some1 and they get hurt, that’s the worse feeling in the world. And Izzy’s deranged azz cut that cord; What mofos would do for love. But I think he wanted/wants to die. Remember what he was saying about heaven being better than earth and so forth. Mmm Hmm. I wonder did she forgot about the DNR form that he signed. And the girl here at work brought up a good point. She thinks Preston will need that heart. What yall think, that would be a new twist.

Comment: Tenacious< Yes, this program seems to have quite a bit of group/team work -which I normally hate for the reasons you described. I was hoping that since most of the people in the program will be old it will cut down on the slacking off but something tells me that procrastination/laziness knows no age limits. lol But I'm glad it's 18 months b/c I was looking at an MA in legislative affairs but I don't know if I can commit myself 2.5 years of anything. Plus, my job isn't paying for as much as I thought. The 18 month program is only 16,000 so I'm like if my job can pay for 2-3 classes, and I get get the cost down to about 11,000 I could pay that off in a year if I needed to, depending on what my loans are like.

And Carlos has to be the most naïve man in the world; first the Nun, now the housekeeper. No wonder Gabby had him wrapped around her lil finger. And Bre just then went crazy. I wonder if her son finds out that she’s in an institution, will he try to come back and get her put away for good once he turns 18. And homegirl got stung with bees that was hilarious. I thought she was going to have an allergic reaction and die. So hopefully suzan stands on her own two feet now, and stop depending on other people.

Another really nice one is called the relaxer look if not by carols daughter its by someones daughter. Its purple and you will look like a fresh mazani relaxer. Same rules of application apply. Comment: A year later than planned, Michael Jordan's brother leaves Army
Associated Press
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - He has the same self-confidence, the same cleanly shaven head, the same famous last name. But James R. Jordan has always been his own man.
While his younger brother, Michael, made history on the basketball court, Jordan forged a distinguished career in a different uniform - Army green.
Now he has retired after 31 years, one more than required because he chose to stay and accompany his unit on a yearlong tour of duty in Iraq.
"The Army was my life," he said recently. "That's why I dedicated myself to it. I felt I could be very successful in it. It didn't require me to be 6 foot. It just required me to be physically fit."
Jordan, now 48, rose to become command sergeant major of the 35th Signal Brigade, the Army's only airborne signal brigade, based at Fort Bragg. That's the top job for an enlisted signal soldier.
"Jordan may be short in height when it comes to his brother, but, man, he scored a slam dunk every time as a sergeant major," said Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph Allen, the senior noncommissioned officer of Fort Bragg and the 18th Airborne Corps.
When Michael Jordan became an NBA star in the 1980s, his older brother had already spent about a decade in the military.
He asked himself a question: "OK, what are you going to be? Are you going to ride a coattail or are you going to keep doing like you are doing?"
There never really was much doubt for a man who learned his work ethic during summers in the farm fields of southeastern North Carolina.
"One of the first things I learned before I went into the Army was that I was the oldest of five kids," he said. "My mom told me, 'You have to earn everything you get.'"
Jordan, who stands about 5-feet-7, became a runner and regularly ran eight to 10 miles to keep in shape. He made his own way as a soldier, never hesitating to speak up when something needed to be said and making a point of downplaying his family tie, Allen said.
"He would hardly let anybody ever come up and ask him about it," Allen said. "He would probably flame you out if you said that to him."

Comment: PART 2: Jordan entered Army basic training in June 1975 and was nearing his mandatory retirement date when his brigade got orders to go to Iraq in 2004. He talked to his family, then asked for permission to stay another year.
"When I made the decision, I knew it was the right thing," Jordan said. He believed that by staying he could keep the unit "completely focused. Plus I had the know-how. I knew everybody in the brigade."
In November, 2004, he and commander Col. Bryan W. Ellis headed to Iraq with the brigade, which provides communications ranging from battlefield telephones to global satellite connectivity.
During the year in combat, Jordan was responsible for as many as 4,000 soldiers - from Fort Bragg; Fort Hood, Texas; Germany; and the South Carolina National Guard - stationed throughout Iraq.
He visited them across the country, Allen said.
"That's the mark of a leader," Allen said. "It was never about him. He was going to check on his soldiers. He was adamant about that."
It was that dedication that made its mark on his troops and his superiors - not his name. That was evident during a retirement ceremony at Fort Bragg on April 13.
"Do you know that, even though Michael Jordan was out there, everybody was still in line to shake Sergeant Major Jordan's hand, not to pay homage to his brother," Allen said. "I thought that was so cool. It was about Jordan the man."

I think it's a done deal with Izzy though cause they already said one of the interns would be leaving and she has somersaulted over the line of medical professionalism. She should have appreciated the GA gig. She'll be posing for playboy in no time.

Comment: Arthur Bronner Sr., 89, top name for black mane
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Arthur Bronner Sr. traveled town to town, beauty shop to beauty shop selling Madam C.J. Walker hair products before becoming a founder of Bronner Bros. which, for some, is the very definition of black hair care products.
Mr. Bronner's sales route became the distribution network for Bronner Bros., founded in 1947, said his son, Art Bronner III of Norcross.
"He knew the back roads of Georgia like nobody's business," he said.
Mr. Bronner Sr. and his brother, the late Nathaniel Bronner, started the company by selling other brands and moved into developing their own products in the 1970s.
"Dad realized if they could make X amount of profit selling other people's products how much more they could make selling their own," his son said. Their first was BB Hair Food.
Though Bronner Bros. sold other brands to beauty shops, beauticians renamed them, saying, "I want some BB," said his sister-in-law, Robbie Bronner of Atlanta. "When we came out with our first product, we knew it had to be named BB."
Today, the company has 300 employees and offers more than 50 original hair care products. Its annual trade show draws thousands of stylists from around the country.
The funeral for Arthur Edward Bronner Sr., 89, of Atlanta, who died of congestive heart failure Wednesday at Piedmont Hospital, is at 10 a.m. today at Wheat Street Baptist Church. Sellers Bros. is in charge of arrangements.
When it came to business, the original Bronner brothers complemented each other. They involved their brothers and sisters in the business and over time included their own children, nieces and nephews, Art Bronner said. His father was executive senior vice president emeritus of the company.
"My father and uncle understood their strengths and weaknesses," he said. "They just balanced each other out. In a lot of ways, they were inseparable."
Ms. Bronner credits her brother-in-law for the company's inroad into retail sales as well as beauty shops.

Comment: PART 2: Mr. Bronner, whom many call Mr. A.E., grew up with 10 brothers and sisters who all worked hard on the family's farm in Kelly in Jasper County. After serving in the U.S. Army, he owned a dry cleaning store in Cleveland. When his brother said he wanted him to help start a business, Mr. Bronner gave up his store and returned to Georgia, his son said.
"Dad, as a specialty, learned how to hang signs in beauty shops," his son said. Mr. Bronner would greet the owner and stylists, tell them about the new product sign, hang it for them, clean the wall if it needed it and place the signs where people couldn't miss them, like in a bathroom, he said.
His winning ways won Bronner Bros. more than customers. When product manufacturers such as Revlon had a sales competition, Bronner Bros. always came out a winner, his son said. "His rapport with the hair stylists was so strong, they'd win every time," he said.
The brothers just had business in their blood, said Dr. Julia Glass of Atlanta, another sister-in-law. "They always listened to each other. He retired about five years ago but still would go to the business, and they still listen to him," she said.
He was a leader in Wheat Street Baptist Church and had been president of the Men Who Usher for 18 years.
"You could always depend on him being frank and honest," Dr. Glass said. "He would give you advice even if you didn't want to hear it, because he thought you needed to hear it."
People heard a lot of his stories, too. "The Army, the farm, school — he never forgot stories from way back," his son said.
"He was full of jokes," Dr. Glass said. "He would laugh at his stories more than the people he was telling it to."
Other survivors include four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Comment: Third Duke Lacrosse Player Indicted in Rape Case
Monday , May 15, 2006
DURHAM, N.C. — A third Duke University lacrosse player has been indicted for his role in the alleged rape of a 27-year-old exotic dancer.
Senior David Evans is facing first-degree charges of forceable rape, sexual offense and kidnapping.
FOX News had learned from defense attorneys that Evans planned to surrender himself and post bond immediately once an indictment does come down. He and his family plan to make a formal press statement in front of the Durham county jail once he is formally charged. A 2 p.m. EDT press conference in Durham was expected.
Evans' lawyer, as well as five to 10 other Duke lacrosse players, will accompany him before the cameras in a showing of solidarity.
Defense attorneys insist all the players are innocent. However, they said last week that they expect the grand jury, which meets every other Monday, to consider indicting another player this week.
"I tried to meet with the D.A. this morning, and he was unavailable," defense attorney Joseph Cheshire, who represents one of the team's uncharged captains, said Monday. Durham prosecutor Mike Nifong has said little about the case in public, and Cheshire has previously complained Nifong has refused to meet or communicate.
Sources close to the prosecution and the defense say the latest DNA report expected to be released Monday shows a match — albeit not a perfect or conclusive one — to the third player. This player's DNA was found underneath one of the fake fingernails retrieved from the bathroom of the house in which the alleged attack took place. The third player is the same one that the accuser identified with 90 percent certainty in an earlier photo line-up.
Defense attorneys have stressed that the DNA results do not conclusively match that of any member of the team.
During Monday's proceedings, which ended around 12:30 p.m. EDT, the grand jury in the case were expected to hear witness testimony; it's possible they may also have heard from the accuser. The accuser's family also was expected to be in attendance.
Two other members of the Duke men's lacrosse team have been indicted in connection with the rape case. Sophomores Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty were charged a few weeks ago with rape, kidnapping and sexual %*$ault; Seligmann is due back in court on Thursday, while Finnerty's next court appearance isn't until mid-June.
A black female stripper has accused three white lacrosse players of raping and %*$aulting her on the night of March 13 at an off-campus house party at which she was hired to perform. The accuser, who attends North Carolina Central University, claims she was attacked for at least a half hour in the bathroom and that she used her fingernails to help fend off her attackers.
|
|
|
Name:
StormyMonday
Comment: PART 2: Defense attorneys have said DNA evidence thus far has exonerated all 46 white members of the team; the 47th player is black and he was not tested.
FOX News has confirmed that the DNA found inside the accuser during a rape exam belongs to her boyfriend. This DNA is separate from that found under the fake fingernail found in the house.
According to a search warrant executed on March 16, police recovered five fingernails from the house, but it was unclear where those fingernails were found or whether they included the one containing DNA.
"Let's wait and see the fingernails and see if they match up to the way she describes the attack took place," said Cheshire, who represents the team captain who has not been charged in connection with the case.
After the first round of tests came back from a state crime lab without a match, Nifong said that in 75 to 80 percent of all sexual %*$ault cases, there is no DNA evidence. In those cases, prosecutors had to proceed "the good old-fashioned way. Witnesses got on the stand and told what happened to them," he said last month.
On Sunday, thousands of students celebrated their graduation at Duke, where university Provost Peter Lange blamed the "sad events and relentless media coverage" of the case for tarnishing the school's image.
Some graduates at commencement had jersey numbers of Seligmann of Essex Fells, N.J., and Finnerty of Garden City, N.Y. written on their mortarboard caps.
There were 11 seniors on the Duke men's lacrosse roster, but it wasn't clear if they were among those at Sunday's ceremony.
The rape allegations led Duke to cancel the lacrosse team's season and accept the resignation of coach Mike Pressler. Duke President Richard Brodhead also initiated a series of internal investigations, one of which concluded administrators were slow to react to the scandal in part because of initial doubts about the accuser's credibility.

Comment: Bullying Keeps Overweight Kids From Exercise Sun May 14, 7:08 PM ET
-- Overweight kids who could benefit from sports and regular exercise are often discouraged from doing so by taunts and bullying, a U.S. study finds.
"We found that as rates of peer victimization among overweight kids went up, rates of physical activity went down," lead author Eric Storch, assistant professor of psychiatry and pediatrics at the University of Florida, Gainesville, said in a prepared statement.
"When you speak to overweight kids, one of the things you often hear is just this. Kids are targeting them. Kids are picking on them," Storch said. "You're going to end up avoiding these types of situations. The problem clinically is, if kids are avoiding PE (physical education) class or playing sports because of fears of negative peer relationships, their health status is affected."
He and his colleagues studied 100 children, ages 8 to 18, who were overweight or at risk of being overweight.
About a quarter of the children reported significant problems with bullying in the two weeks before the start of the study.
Not only does bullying make overweight children want to avoid gym class, sports or other situations where they face ridicule, it also can lead to depressed feelings that keep these children from wanting to take part in activities.
"When you think about it, it makes intuitive sense, when you consider the hallmark signs of depression -- sadness, fatigue, lack of interest in things you used to like," Storch noted. "When kids are having a tough time with peers, and struggling with depression, then this can translate to reduced rates of physical activity."
The study appears in the April online edition of the Journal of Pediatric Psychology.

Bausch & Lomb Pulls Contact Lens Solution From Market
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bausch & Lomb Inc. said Monday it has permanently removed from the market a contact-lens solution that has been linked to an outbreak of fungal eye infections that can cause blindness.
"Bausch & Lomb's top priority is the safety of our customers, and we want them to have complete confidence in our products," the eye care company's chief executive, Ronald Zarrella, said Monday.
Federal health authorities said Friday that the number of confirmed cases of Fusarium keratitis has climbed to 122, most of them contact-lens wearers who reported using Bausch & Lomb's newest cleaner, ReNu with MoistureLoc MultiPurpose Solution.
The company halted U.S. sales of MoistureLoc on April 13 after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it was investigating an unusual spike in infections in Americans using the product.
While the CDC reiterated that the origin remains a mystery, some eye specialists theorized that MoistureLoc's unique disinfecting and moisturizing agents could have played a role in the outbreak, which first surfaced in the Far East.
Of the more than 30 million Americans who wear contact lenses, nearly 11 million use MultiPlus, which was launched a decade ago. Another 2.3 million people use MoistureLoc, which was introduced in late 2004 and accounted for $45 million in U.S. sales last year. Bausch & Lomb also makes contact lenses, ophthalmic drugs and vision-correction surgical instruments and generates more than $2 billion in annual revenues.

Comment: Arkansasgirl, it has been announced continously on ABC that Grey's is 2 hours tonight. Elsewhere on the web, rumor has it that Cristina gets put in charge of the ER. Also the interns are working under a new attending named Erica who may try to act like Bailey but just can't pull it off. Derek will be the one operating on Burke.

Comment: StormyMonday -My friend here at work has been going in and out the hospital because of this contact lens solution. He was, I think, the sixth or seventh person in the us diagnosed from this. He was real lucky, because they new what it was. But she said that his eyesight will never be the same and he has to go through surgery even though they’ve already scrapped his retina. I had this same solution sitting in my desk, but luckily, it was my backup and I’ve never hardly used it.
