Comment: The gubment doesn't have to mobilize to save me, common sense and the ability to know when to be on the move will do that. Otherwise I'd be a sitting duck just like the blacks in the 9th ward. When disaster looms you don't wait for somebody to tell you to move or somebody to come get your azz either. It's a given that so many didn't have to be lost if these folk had followed their intuition instead of depending on the gubment and Nagin.

Comment: I think Katrina taught many of us a valuable lesson. Those of us who living in the New Orleans area won't take the warnings lightly. One reasons many people may not have left is due to the fact that evacuating is a way of life in this area. We do it at least once a year. We had a close call just a couple of weeks before Katrina. We get so many close calls that people sometimes ignore the warnings. Unfortuantly, Katrina was more than a close call. But, I believe this was a lesson well learned. If there's another storm lurking we won't wait for the government. N.O. will empty by any means necessary.

I was there in New Orleans working at the convention center in 2003 and yes kneegrow I went to the 9th ward - got some great cue and had the opportunity to see what I saw. Comment: Some folk thought to wait out the storm and said that if the levee's had held they would have been okay. Others said they didn't have transportation and others planned to stay - you see they still had looters laying in wait for the city to be empty. The fact is even if Nagin hadn't said a word, the national weather service gave plenty of warning. Being raised in tornado alley, I know what kind of notice you get and I know what kind of work it takes to evacuate. Renegade find something more productive to use your words for - you should get tire of calling folk out on this board only to get your dumb azz smacked down.
