Comment: good morning everbody. I guess I am the first to post today. I hope evryone have a great day today.
I have something that I want to discuss with the people who post on this board. I want to know if anyone saw Oprah on yesterday and if so did they see Gloria Vandernilt? Her face looked like pure hell. you can see that this lady has had so much cosmetic surgery and it looked just like a lnndslide in her face because it really looked like she had only one cheek bone and the other one had slid down. She looks so awful to me. She need to go and get her money back from whoever did her surgery. Man her face looed caved in. she definitely was butchered up. I feel so sorry for all these celebrities who get cosmetic surgery and it looks a hot mess. I cannot believe that she was on Oprah's show showing that face looking like that. I also did not know that Anderson Cooper from CNN was her son.
If anyone saw this please let me know what you thought about her face.
It is 3:26 a.m. in Georgia.

Comment: Yo...I'm posting this on all the forums:A heckler found that out the hard way after shouting at the actor-comedian last week
during a forum at the University of the District of Columbia,
the latest of about 20 cities to host a free "Call Out with Bill Cosby" symposium
for black parents and community leaders.
The heckler, whom news reports called "a self-described community activist,"
started shouting from the audience. He derided Mr. Cosby's "watered-down dialogue"
and demanded answers to Michael Eric Dyson's highly publicized book, Is Bill Cosby Right?
Or Has the Black Middle Class Lost Its Mind?
That's when Mr. Cosby lost his cool. The 68-year-old former college athlete jumped off the stage,
wireless microphone in hand, and raced up the aisle to loom over his somewhat astonished questioner.
"I'm sick of you and your Dyson," Mr. Cosby declared. "Dyson is not a truthful man."

Comment: I got this from a friend. Does anyone know if it's true. If it is, it's outrageous.
The "Certificate of Completion or Attendance" that is being offered in
lieu of high school diplomas, is a part of Bush's "No Child Left Behind".
This is how it works:
It is for students who are unable to pass both the Language Arts and Math
portions of the 10th grade ISTEP. Students must take the same 10th grade
test over in the 11th and 12th grades until they pass both portions. If
they are unable to pass the 10th grade test by the 12th grade then they
have two options:
1. Drop out and go to a GED program or,
2. accept a "Certificate of Completion" - it is NOT a diploma. Once a
student accepts it, they cannot ever get a diploma or a GED. A
certificate of completion means that a student can never (as long as they
live):
1. go to the armed services
2. go to college
3. go to trade school
4. go to journeyman's school
5. go to beauty school
6. go to culinary arts school
7. get a federal loan in their lifetime
This is the portion of NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND (2001) that Bush slipped in
during the 2004 revision of the NCLB bill. It has not been publicized. At
a high school in Indiana, in 2005, there were 87 seniors in the graduation
class. Five got diplomas and 82 got "Certificates of Completion".
This is being referred to as the "Paper Plantation". It is better for
students to drop out and get into a GED program so they may seek other
forms of education, later in life, if they desire to do so. All 50 states
have "Certificates of Completion or Attendance".

Comment: Yes, MDHornet. I've heard of it and it's bulls****. I equate that certificate to being an eviction notice, with no chance for relocation. But the way around it is to keep your kids and in line and make them take their butts to school every day, pass them tests, write them papers, go to gym and cooking and get out of the school the same way generations did before them. People can will offer you anything, but you don't have to take it. We may not be able to systematically revoke it, but if we impress upon our children the importance of staying in school, then this certificate will only be worth the paper it's printed on. It's like an eviction notice, I swear, leaving you homeless forever. EDUCATION IS THE ONLY WAY OUT OF POVERTY OF THE MIND.

The description is as follows: No middle ground here; you'll either love or hate Requiem for a Dream. Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans are best friends and amateur drug dealers looking for a big score. Trouble is, they're their own best customers. As they descend into the nightmarish hell of addiction, Leto's mother (Oscar-nominee Ellen Burstyn) also finds herself hooked on barbiturates. Not for the squeamish.

Comment: Rape, brutality ignored to aid Congo peace By Jeff Koinange CNN Wednesday, May 24, 2006; Posted: 8:09 a.m. EDT (12:09 GMT)
BUKAVU, Democratic Republic of Congo (CNN) -- At a makeshift
recreation center at a hospital
here in eastern Congo, about 500 women surround one of their own,
who's lying on the floor. She clutches a cane as she struggles to get up. The women begin
singing, slowly at first and
then the song picks up momentum. Before long the young woman lifts
herself, drops the cane and
begins to walk around the room as if in a trance, singing and
clapping. The other women clap
along with her as the singing gets louder and louder. The young woman's name is Tintsi and she's barely 20 years old. She
arrived at the hospital
three weeks ago on a stretcher carried by relatives who walked 100
miles to get here. Doctors
weren't sure Tintsi would ever walk again. Tintsi, like everyone else in this room, is a victim of the worst kind
of sexual violation
imaginable.
"Some of them have knives and other sharp objects inserted in them
after they've been raped,
while others have pistols shoved into their vaginas and the triggers
pulled back," said Dr.
Denis Mukwege Mukengere, the lone physician at the hospital. "It's a
kind of barbarity that only
savages are capable of." He added that "these perpetrators cannot be human beings."

Comment: The alleged perpetrators are men in uniform, part of the Congolese
army. These troops are a
compilation of various militia groups that had been fighting each
other for years until a truce
was reached two years ago.
A recent report by the United Nations found that Congo's own soldiers
were responsible for the
nearly seven dozen complaints of crimes and human rights violations
over the past two months.
Among the crimes committed were extrajudicial executions,
disappearances, rapes and brutal
beatings, according to the U.N. report.
'I wish they'd killed me'
Tintsi turns to the other victims standing near her and says in a
soft, but defiant voice, "They
can take away my womanhood, but they'll never be able to break my
spirit."
Some women nod, others shake their heads. Some weep openly.
Also in the room is 28-year-old Henriette Nyota. Her spirit is all but
broken. Three years ago,
she said, she was gang raped as her husband and four children were
forced to watch. The men in
uniform then disemboweled her husband and continued raping her and her
two oldest daughters, 10
and 8. The %*$ault went on for three days. "I wish they'd killed me right there with my husband," she said, "What
use am I now? Why did
those animals leave me to suffer like this?"
Nineteen-year-old Nzigire bears the result of repeated sexual
violations -- her year-old
daughter, Ester. The teenager acknowledges she often contemplates
putting an end to what she
calls a death sentence.
"I sometimes feel like killing myself and my daughter," she said. "I
look at her and all I see
is them. I look at myself and all I see is misery."
'Only revenge can make me forget'
Misery permeates this tiny hospital in this huge country the size of
Western Europe. Last year
there were more than 4,000 reported rape cases in this province alone,
or about 12 a day,
officials say. And it's not just women who are being raped; so are some men with
equally devastating consequences. Fifteen-year-old Olivier was sitting down to dinner with his family
when the front door of their
house was smashed in. Olivier's father was the first to be killed
followed by his mother, right
in front of the children. They then raped Olivier's three sisters, and when he tried to fight
them they turned on him. One
at a time, more than a dozen in all, he said.

Only revenge can make me forget what happened to me." Mukengere takes us from ward to ward, where the beds are filled with
sexual abuse patients in
various stages of recovery. Colostomy bags hang off their cots and bed
pans are everywhere. Once
in a while, you hear a woman scream in pain as she's raised by the
team of tireless nurses to
have something to eat or drink.
Mukengere, who attends to an average of 10 new cases a day, explains
bed-by-bed the cruelty that
has become the Congo.
"Helene, over there, is 19 years old. She first came here five years
ago after having been
raped," he said. "We treated her and discharged her, and off she went
back to her home village.
Five years later, she's back after being attacked and sexually
violated over and over again.
This is pure madness."
Equally troubling is that aid money designated for victims of sexual
abuse here may run out at
the end of June despite the relative success of this program, the only
one of its kind in the region.
"It's so tragic that the world can afford to sit back and let these
atrocities continue like
this," said aid worker Marie Walterzon of the Swedish Pentecostal
Mission. "Possibly because it
involves poor, voiceless Africans," she said. Sadly though, many of the people responsible for these rapes -- what
is being described as the
new weapon of war in a time of peace -- have yet to be arrested, tried
or convicted. The peace
process is too delicate at this stage, officials say.

Comment: Good Morning Y'all! Anyone ever been to Pandora.com? It is a cool music site where you type in the name of a artist or song you like and it plays some of thier music or music similiar to it! I love it. Mary J., Mariah and Ne-Yo make really cool listening stations. I just put Cherelle, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and Ready for the World in there and secretly, I am having WAY too much fun!!

Comment: MDHornet - That hurts to read such things, my goodness!! I seen a lot of the stuff about men raping over there on this show Oprah had and it was awful. I will never forget a show where a black woman from the US had adopted this infant over there who was gang raped at 5 MONTHS because the men were told by a doctor that having sex with a virgin would cure them of AIDS. At the time my daughter was 7 months old, I looked at her and cried. I cried for days I think because I had no understanding. By Gods blessing the little baby survived, she will never have kids or anything, but they showed an updated picture of her and she was happy, smiling, and healthy! I was sooo glad to see her and the woman who saved her. I still have not watched Hotel Rwanda, although we own it, because I just can't handle watching stuff like that!!

I was so moved when I saw Hotel Rwanda, but now there are so many other crisises going on (Darfur and elsewhere) and I feel so helpless. I mean, what do you do? Money is needed to help the survivors, but more they also need help to stop the madness. I don't know what ordinary people can do to convince the UN to get involved, send in troops. If you don't have something the rich couuntries can benefit from then you're just forgotten.

Comment: I am just grateful for these United States of America. With all of its shortcomings, with all of its faults, the bad history of slavery and Jim Crow laws...the modern day slavery (Certificate of completion -in lieu of a genuine high school education and the drug trafficking) -- even with the Katrina fiasco. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It is so sad. News like that hurts me so, anyone ever watched Tears in the Sun with Bruce Willis.... phenomenal movie. It depicts this type of brutal rape and crimes against the black women, Mother of the earth. Women are raped, the nipple of the breasts are removed so that babies that aren't killed cannot feed. White men in all they have done, the black men in the Congo, Africa, Haiti, and Liberia subject our women to far worse conditions. These men are not human. I mean even in Iraq with all of its suicide bombings, such crimes against women are few and far between...unheard of. The Arab nations have no AIDS or AIDS related deaths.
I read stories of such and I thank God for being ADAS (African by Descent, America by Slavery). Liberia is a small African country started by slaves that returned to Africa after obtaining freedom and there is no running water there. Yesterday morning, I was almost moved to tears, I thought of these stories as I removed my five year old from the tub and I just offered God a praise of thanksgiving. In lands where Kings and Queens of the Zulu tribe once reigned, now only orphans and AIDS victims (4 out of 10 are HIV positive) occupy the land. In Haiti, gangs rule the streets, Mothers have children by the dozen, but there isn't food to feed them. Men do not have descent nets by which to fish with.
I am divorced, with two children and I am not poor by any means. I do not take it lightly the fact that I can feed my children, educate my children and work my job.

Comment: Well, as I asked earlier: where do you start?! Something has to be done. I would say this is similar to all of the countries and people who sat by while our ancestors were enslaved here in America. These people's freedom to live are just being taken away from them and we're just.... here! I wish someone just knew where we could begin to help these people. I agree with MDhornet, if the gov't can't benefit from the country - they won't intervene.

Comment: Governments can be forcibly removed from power. If the U.S. or Great Britain or any of the other nations sent troops, a change could be wrought. Even more if they left troops for a while as they've done in the oil-producing nations. Since the cold war ended, many of the big nations have no need to use these African nations as pawns anymore. They've milked them for all they're worth and now they've left them to rot. Many of those monsters in power were put there and financed by the Americans, the British, the French, the Dutch to name a few. They put people in place who could help them accomplish whatever their missions were at the time and then when they were pulled out they left the monsters in place. They ripped whole societies apart, put European systems in place that would benefit their purposed and when they were done, they left abruptly and left many of these countries with no infrastructure to speak of. What did they expect would happen?
