I have no problem believing she put the weight on for a role. In her field, image is everything and she's kept hers up for years with/without controversy surrounding her. I find it hard to believe she'd just suddenly put on 60 lbs for no reason. 20 or 30 maybe, but when someone like Janet puts on 60 pounds, there's a reason. Black folk do know how to knock their own down though. White celebrities have done this before. Gained weight for a role or gained pregnancy weight and lost it in record time and they don't get as much hate as we give our own. Janet, love ya girl. Keep doing you.

Homegirl is a fat girl in her heart and if she didn't have the money for the lipo and trainers and nutritionist she'd be big as a house. Comment: I was thinking about this topic this morning, for whatever reason. I have always wondered why empowered women like Madonna, Mariah, Janet, etc. feel the need to exploit themselves. But then I think about how I feel about my body when it's tight. I want to show it off. It's not sexual, it's pride, I guess. I think the female form is a beautiful thing and to me (a free spirit), there is nothing wrong with it being seen. However, we have to be cognizant of the way Americans, specifically American men, view the female form and to them it's strictly a sexual thing. That is a shame. But as such, we have to be careful how we portray ourselves. Oprah had an article in her last magazine issue about women and how some flaunt their bodies and even how men view it - at work/on the street. I think that at Janet's age and with her stature she shouldn't have to do this and it's a shame she feels she has to.

Before Damita Joe she had the biggest hit of her career with "All for You". People make it seem as if she hasnt had a hit since Rythm Nation.

Comment: I don't believe Janet gained that weight for a part in a movie and did not even get it? That does not make sense. I thought if an actor decides to physically change his appearance for a role he/she knows they already have the part. I like Janet but this does not sound right to me.
