Comment: Finally, I agree with Brother Phillips. REAL Mac and Cheese takes it's rightful place, center stage at the African-American feast. This article was truly "slammin"!

Comment: Great article! I love me some good homemade macaroni and cheese, My mom always used Tillamook cheese, it was the bomb!

Comment: Oops! I almost forgot to mention my friend Ms. Melba's Mac and cheese, the girl can really throw down! She also uses Tillamook cheese!

Comment: Love the article.....getting memories of home!!! I used to love when my Aunt Priscilla made homemade mac & cheese, I would eat most of it...no one was allowed to have any until I got mine first. Now I'm away from home and my daughter's great-grandmother knows how to put her foot in some baked mac & cheese.... she uses buttermilk....I'm getting hungry

Comment: My homemade macaroni and cheese is so good it will make you ask for more. Thanks for another tip, I usually use sour cream but I might just try some Tillamook cheese. There is an art to cooking from scratch, sad to say it's becoming a lost art!

Comment: Great article! I learned to cook mac and cheese from my grandmother. I have perfected my own recipe and for years now, every holiday and family gathering, it's "understood" that I make the mac and cheese. My mother even asks me to make it for her when she has to attend a pot luck. Like JCP, I don't believe in boxed mac and cheese. It's not allowed in my house.

Comment: JCP...you ain't never lied about how cherished MAC n' Cheese is in the black household. The funniest part of the article is when they threw old girl's 'version' of MAC n' Cheese out. Black folks will do that in a heartbeat. Great article. Now, I'm feining for some MAC n' Cheese. Guess I better go call moms (LOL)!

Comment: I am a Southern Girl, and mac and cheese in a box is an insult! When I was in school in New England, the mother of one of my friends said she was going to make "baked" macaroni and cheese. I looked at her strangely, thinking that saying "baked" was being redundant. I had never heard of mac and cheese made in a pot (yes, some folks do this, grimace) and I had shunned the box stuff as a child. Mac and cheese is one of my favorite dishes, and if you serve it next to some baked ham (from the oven, not Honeybaked) I might fight you for it!
