Comment: Michael Woodard, you are on point. If more Black men don't step up and prevent a total image hijacking then there is no one to blame but self. Young Black males need more mentors -- why aren't more Black grown men taking on mentorship roles to guide young boys into becoming MEN. Rap/hip-hop and the media have corrupted the Black male image big time and if more Black men don't step up to protect, invest in, and be proud Black men, then come what may...........

Comment: thank you michael woodard for that....you are a real man because you have the maturity to see that you can't blame someone else for your own problems....black women are always being blamed for stuff that really isn't our fault when it pertains to black men, don't get me wrong we have stuff that we need to change as well but i am tired of being the blame for everything that black men do because they don't want to take responsibility for the things they create themselves.

Comment: Well! I can't take issue with anything Mr. Woodward wrote and agree with his %*$essment of what the brothers should be doing. It appears that 'man up' is more than a notion in Mr. Woodwards life and what better person to have written this feedback than one who recognizes our accomplishments as well as being confident in the person he looks at in the mirror to the extent that he understands what brothers priorities really are.

Comment: Brotha James looks a little sweet himself......maybe it was his mother fault for that....Black men are failing the black race so bad, but they can't see it. Going to jail is the modern slavery and they have fallen right into it.

Comment: Does anyone know exactly who these "feminazis" that DJ is talking about are? And what are they doing or what have they done that's got DJ so upset? I mean, DJ even said himself that their movement is failing so why even bother with writing an article and sparking debate about them?

Comment: I usually don't come on to this board, but I have been checking it out as of late. I really do understand a lot of Darryl James points he makes about the sistas (trust me...I know), but also know that the bruthas have to really do their part in this. I am going into public schools to actually talk to the young brothers about being good citizens and just have repsect for one another. There need to be more role models than just rappers and athletes.

Comment: Thank you Mr. Woodard. I give you props for speaking as you did and thank you for every woman who ever held a brother, father, uncle, nephew or son down. It is so gratifying to see you come out as a real man -- one who is at least accountable. If and when black men learn that who they are are not what they go through, then they will be able to accept the love that is given to them and use that love to propel them forward. Thank you for confirming what I believe -- that there are many decent brothers out there. None of us asked to come here, but once you get here, the world don't owe you nothing. Each of us are where we are because of the choices we make. Some of us are where we are because of circumstances. In each case, each day you can change your circumstances and make new choices -- choices that build up and not tear down. Your mom should be proud of the values she has instilled in her family.

Comment: Very well said. I'd like for my 2-year old son to grow up with similar common sense to that of Mr. Woodard, and not that of Darryl James.

Comment: Hate to rain on anyone's parade but if you read Darryl's columns all the time he has talked about men with issues as well. In fact he stated the exact same thing Mr. Woodard is talking about. He writes many very thought provoking articles in general, and that's what they are geared to do, start a dialog---of course not to start a name calling dialog where no one gets any point across except how clever one is in insulting each other. To me the last two are not IMO bashing women unless you fit that description. Darryl has written far worse articles about how women sabotage relationships, but again it is not like these women don't exist. Just like the men that RealLuv talked about exist as well, but it isn't all men, it isn't all women. It's all about experience, so it's kind of difficult to argue about experiences, cause your opinion is formed by them, you would be arguing forever and no would be any closer to agreeing.

Comment: yes, Darryl has written various articles addressing male issues HOWEVER somehow he always ties it back to the black woman being responsible. Somebody pointed out a couple days ago on the message board that Darryl hates women, and you can tell by the way he posts responses to people that it is true. The other day he brought a female poster's name into something she had NOTHING to do with it. Then he goes on to use words like wench and all that to demoralize her. He's verbally abusive and to me, fits the stereotypical angry black male image that he claims to be trying so hard to debunk. He can't handle it if you disagree with him and have the ability to argue on his level or one that surpasses it so he resorts to verbal violence. I find it odd that EurWeb can post site use rules that include rules about the cordial way in which we SHOULD address each other but then post the ramblings of a writer who, 1. uses bad grammar and 2. fails to flush out any of his points and 3. verbally attacks all those who disagree with him

Comment: SMH. People, feminazis exist in our community on this board too. SweetieDarlin, I hear ya. Bro Mike, understand u but heh your moms or women like that weren't feminazis and DJ clearly wasn't describing women like your moms. Bro Mike asked good questions but take it to EUR. When columns speak to our good few of us comment but we can't wait to criticize when it's not the way we want to hear it or when someone's life isn't the way we want it and that's b.s. right there. People still attacking in some of these posts here tryin incite more mess. Thanks MER82 for saying we should look at DJ's old columns. I did. My questions.. when will peeps read thuroughly b4 responding? when will peeps wait for clear heads b4 responding? STOP the ATTACKING and that means EVERYBODY!!! Scuse me, time to attack this long weekend. Have plenty.

Comment: Does anyone find it odd that 99.9& of 'women' responding to this agreed w/what Wood said? Does anyone find it at least 'interesting' that Wood is now considered what a 'real man is' based on his post? If men won't acknowledge their problems and women won't acknowledge theirs, who are those 'real' men/women out there? That is, keeping consistent w/the newly found definition of a 'real person' is(one who fully admits/acknowledges the error in their ways and don't seek to blame the other sex for their problems) It seems as if BOTH sexes have a problem acknowledging shortcomings. Acknowledging is NOT telling your boyz or your girlfriends...it is to your partner. I have seen the postings of some women directed at some men on this board and they were the same (if not worse) than D's article and his responses to attack. So, if language and direct attacks are the guidelines, I having a hard time understanding who's worst. I think we both are our own worst enemies. We men will NOT admit some things to you..and you women will not admit some things to us. What you condone, you become and since these juvenile, ridiculous battle of the sexes seems to find no end in sight, we at least need to find a middle ground. If Wood and Sweetiedarlin at the 'exceptions' aren't we all doomed?

Comment: Actually I find it more odd that some of the men on this board can't just acknowledge what this brotha, Mr. Woodard, wrote and instead want to align themselves with someone who is more about separation than joining together. But then again wonders never cease.

Comment: Hello All, I appreciate both the positive and negative feedback to my letter to Bro. Darryl James. It's interesting to note, that he is the founder of Rap Sheet. A publication that I have read on occasion. Now I can't say that I've read every article he's written, but i wonder since a portion of his career is based on Rap Sheet, has he ever addressed the misogony of hiphop or would that affect his bread and butter. I'm just tired of my fellow brothers using our women as escape goats because they can't man up on their own situations. A woman can't solve a man's problem no more than the black community can expect white people to solve its problems. My response to Bro. James wasn't an attempt to ridicule him or any such thing; but rather to get him to pause a moment and realize that as much as he THINKS he's saying something, he's really just talking loud and barking with no substance that only proves to be counter productive.
As for the person who said Bro. James was clearly NOT talking about my mother and women like her, what makes you think so? You think women have only began to stand up in the most recent years? Women have always waged their battles, bet it the stradegy changes with the times. Not all women are perfect. Not all men are perfect, but its clear that he's a bitter %*$!( and a himinazi, and I say that because thats what we would call our female counterparts with the same gripe: bitter %*$!(es and feminazis. Get it together brothers or get left behind. It's a simple as that. We are the laughing stock of the world and yet we find nothing better to do with our time than to carry on about what black women have done. Black women have done nothing but carried our black %*$es time and time again. So for all of you little boys who take issue with what I say, you can either step up or step on, while real men actually make a difference in the lives of our community and families. There's a child to be mentored.
